INTRODUCTION
Marketing is the process through which an organization plan about how to deliver
products and services to the end users. Marketing involves segmentation, target, positioning,
marketing plans, marketing strategies, 7P's and reactions of customers (What Is Marketing?
Definition And Meaning, 2019). If an organization do marketing process proper than no one can
stop the company to become successful. McDonald's is a successful fast food company, which
was established by Richard and Maurice McDonald in 1940 at San Bernardino, California. Now,
McDonald's is the largest restaurant chains over 100 countries. This report highlights Roles and
Responsibilities of Marketing and interrelationship of marketing with another functional
departments. Report will also describe the marketing mix and its elements. Report also tell about
the marketing strategies and marketing plan (Kotler, 2015).

Explain The Role Of Marketing
Research- It is the responsibility of marketing manager of McDonald to research the target
market which helps company to identify the opportunities and in satisfying needs of its
customers. It is the role of marketing manager to analyse the strategies used by companies
competitors and to make decisions to protect its existing customers and role of marketing
manager is tom make strategies to win over its competitors such as Burger King & Subway.
Marketing manager of McDonald is responsible to analyse target market to enhance its customer
base, market share & profitability. Role of Marketing manager is to research the market through
market data, online websites and by interacting with its customers.
Sales Support- Marketing department of McDonald is responsible to enhance sales of the
company and to increase its profitability. For that, marketing manager has to perform a role of
providing support to sales team to improve its promotion strategies and encourage sales team to
collect feedback & reviews from its customers and to interact with companies customers so that
company can improve its products according to the customers needs. Marking manager of
McDonald also gives training to its sales team to provide them promotion strategies and to give

them the content which company wants to show to its customers. Marketing manager also
responsible to appoint agencies & web providers to promote sales of the company.
Customer Services- It is the responsibility of marketing manager of McDonald to understand
companies customers and their taste. In this role of Marketing manager is to encourage customer
service department to interact & coordinate with companies customers through social media,
Email, telephone and in person to establish long term customer base (Fine, 2017). Marketing
manager of McDonald is responsible to provide fresh & healthy food to its customers and also to
provide home delivery of its beverages in all the cities it has its outlets.
Segmentation- Marketing manager of McDonald is responsible for dividing the market in
groups or in different segments such as geographic, demographic, behavioural and psycho-
graphic. In this marketing manager plays a role of doing segmentation on the basis of age, taste,
region, life style, purchasing power and degree of customer loyalty. Marketing manager is also
responsible to develop the products according to the segmentation done by it. Marketing
manager of McDonald is also responsible to establish relationship with its customers so that
segmentation is done perfectly.
Strategy Development Strategy development is an important role for marketing because it
provides McDonald's an edge over its competitors, helps in deciding the fair price for products
and services, helps in co-ordination of all departments and helps in deciding the right target
audience to make product successful.
Competition Marketing plays an important role in competition. Competition helps the
company to get to know about that where company stands and in the future, where company
wants to go. Also, competition tell the company that whose products are being loved by
audience. If McDonald's products is like by audience more than its competitor's products then
marketing will think about that how to make that product more innovative. But, if McDonald's
products is not that much like by audience this will lead marketing to change its marketing
strategies.
Branding Branding is an important aspect of marketing. If there was no marketing, then there
would be no branding. Branding means process of creating a unique name for products, services
as well as company. Branding helps marketing to make different presence in market, targets the
potential customers, attracts and retains the loyal customers for company (Lamb and Crompton,
2017).
