CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
Overview of Research
Cross cultural training is defined as training provided to staff members concerned to
cultural differences among nations. Awareness of which assists in running business smoothly
across nations. It is necessary for doing the business by consisting several cultures as well as
nations. It assists the people to learn more regarding themselves by learning regarding others.
Mainly cross cultural training promotes the self confidence in people and teams by empowering
them sense of the control over complex challenges at workplace. This contributes in enhancing
ability of staff members to understand others culture and values. The cross culture training
develops interest to understand background of staff and cultural heritage. They should be feel
better regarding own culture and same way staff should accept and also appreciate the other
culture employees. In context to healthcare sector, language barriers develop safety and quality
related issues for the LEP and Deaf and Hard of Hearing Patients. The barriers are related with
poor quality of the care in the emergency departments, high rate of the medical errors and
inadequate diagnosis communication. In regards to this, impact of the sociocultural factors,
ethnicity and race on clinical care is enhancing necessary in delivery of the healthcare. In
healthcare, its main focus on ability to be communicate in significant manner. It gives quality
healthcare to the patients from different sociocultural backgrounds. People with the chronic
situations needs health services therefore enhancing the interaction with healthcare systems. If in
case healthcare organisations and providers are not working to give competent care culturally
then patients are at more risk about having negative health issues. Minimum quality patient
physician interaction is related with less satisfaction with the healthcare.
Background of Research
The cross- cultural training is valuable to develop the productive and professional
relationship with the clients and patients. It helps in make improvement in the work relationship
among the diverse staff members. This facilitate delivery of the health as well as wellness related
services. Cultural training for the healthcare professionals focus on knowledge and skill set that
value the diversity and enhance awareness about the providers. Training helps in provide the

facts regarding patients culture or consists complex interventions for an instance explore
potential barriers to the care and intercultural communication skills training. The cross- cultural
training for healthcare professionals helps in improving knowledge of providers and skills for

improve the satisfaction level of patients. In some of the circumstances, patients whose providers
are completed the training have better opinion regarding clinicals.

The rationale behind conducting present investigation is to determine the ways of cross
cultural training within the healthcare services in an organisation in United Arab Emirates. The
