INTRODUCTION
The main motive of health care institutions is to enhance the quality of care and services that
they provide to patient in order to bring most positive outcomes out of the efforts made. Hence
the regular practice toward improving the health as well as care plan of patient is essential. This
best practice within the health care term is defined as the best way for identifying, gathering,
evaluating, disseminating as well as implementing the information as well as monitoring the
outcome of the health care interventions that are being tried over the patients and defining the
indication or condition (Bain and Fowler, 2020). So, the practice based initiative is all about
improving the health care practice through the evidence and experiences in order to improve the
quality of services delivered to the patient for enhancing the quality of care and improve their
health care. In order to further develop understanding about the importance of practice based
initiate within improving the care services for the patients this study is conducted which is based
on NHS which ia a health and social care institution.
NHS is a publicly funded health care system which is headquartered in United Kingdom.
This name is combinedly operated under four system one within each of the four countries of UK
which includes NHS in England, NHS Wales, NHS Scotland and Health and social care within
Norther Ireland. It offered range of services such as primary care services, ambulance, mental
health services, social care and hospital services. NHS is best known for its health care services
and practices (Hyde, MacVicar and Humphrey, 2020). But as the issues related with health care
is increasing day by day it become very much essential for the health care service providers to
improve their services in order to [provide better cure and treatment to the patient. The care
practices can be improved with the help of enhancing the practices adopted by the health care
practitioners. Hence to determine the role of practices-based initiative in improving the health
care services this report is conducted.

This topic has a wider scope for the health and social care sector as it help in developing an
understanding about the need pf improving the health care practice in order to enhance the
quality of services offered to the patient. This in turn also help in improving the health and social
care sector as well as the performance of health care practitioners. Other then this the study will
also remain helpful in uncovering the fact about why the initiative toward improving the health

care practice is essential for NHS and manner in which it will support in improving the overall
structure of health and social care sector.

Project plan
The current report is based on performing investigation to identify the role that a practice-
based initiative performs within improving the quality of services that are delivered with in the
health care setting. To determine the feasibility of report firstly the literature review will be
performed that help in developing an understanding about the area of study and also support in
determining the feasibility of study. As literature review help in evaluating the findings
performed by some other scholar previously by critically evaluating about their view points. This
help in developing a base understanding about the area of study whi8ch is going to performed
based on previously established knowledge. This will support in identifying that whether the area

the study it remain very much necessary for an investigator to choose right set of approaches for
executing the research activities that help in directing toward a path to accomplish the objective
behind study. the set of method and approaches used for performing an investigation act as a
guider to support investigator in performing a research appropriately by guiding over the
pathway. On the other side the set of methodology and approaches used by the investigator also
support the reader in determining the validity and reliability of study conducted (Wiek and Lang,
2016). So, the approaches and methods used for this investigation are mentioned below:
Research philosophy: The philosophy within an investigation is consider as a set of beliefs
that are being established by the research community to guide over the investigation performed
by people in order to follow some set of practices. The most commonly used philosophies within
the investigation are realism, positivism, interpretivism. Among them all the positivism
philosophy will be used to perform this investigation as it support in gathering as well as
analysing the information that are gathered in the form of quantitative data. this in turn support in
presenting the more accurate and reliable information which help in accomplishing the main
objectives of the study.
Research design: The design adopted for performing an investigation support in

converting the data int meaningful information. The approaches used within a particular
investigation are mainly of two kind such as inductive and deductive. The choice of approach
within an investigation is based on the type of investigation method adopted by the researcher for
conducting the study (Mackey and Gass, 2015). As the current study is based on quantitative
method of research the deductive approach will be more suitable for the research. This is so
because it help in evaluating the numerical data effectively and convert it into meaningful
information in relation with the aim and objectives decided for the study to help in justifying
them and proving them right to complete the research.

Data collection
The data collection is that section of an investigation which presents detailed about the
sources that are used by the investigator to collect the information. There are number of sources
which are used within an investigation in order to collect information but as per their
chrematistics these sources of data collection are categories within two categories such as
primary and secondary. The primary sources are one where the information is collected for the
first time and actually generated directly from the person or place over which the investigation if
performed. This is also known as first hand approach of data collection as the information is
collected for first time which is not yet been access by nay other person. The sources that are
used for gathering the primary information are interview, questionnaire, focus group, brain
storming, survey, group discussion etc. On the other hand the secondary sources are one where

the information is already presented by some another person previously and now used by the
researcher with an aim to develop an understanding from the previously established knowledge
within this are of study (Walliman, 2017) . This information is mainly known as second hand
information as it is secondary to the researcher. The sources used for gathering the secondary
information are books, articles, blog, records, journals etc. In order to conduct this investigation
both sources of data collection will be used. Among them the secondary information will be
gathered using sources like article, blog, web pages, journals and books in order to critically
review the view point of scholars about study area.
On the other hand the primary data will be collected with the help of questionnaire as it
support in collecting the larger amount of information in less possible time period by gathering
the view point of huge number of people. In order to collect the primary information with the
help of questionnaire the sampling method will be used which is a process of selecting group of
people that are related with the area opf study and support in gathering the most relatable and
appropriate information. There are mainly two methods that are used for performing sampling
such as probability and non probability sampling. Among them the probability sampling method
will be consider for performing this study. This is so because the probability sampling help in
avoiding the chance of biasness by providing equal opportunity to each individual out of whole
population to being selected. The probability sampling method help in selecting the respondents
on random method basis. The sample size for this report will be 30 respondents who are the
health care practitioner that are working within NHS.
Data analysis:
It is refers to the procedure which is used process all the gathered data so that it get
evaluated effectively and then convert into meaningful information (Tuohy and et.al., 2013). The
data collected will be analysed by making use of thematic analysis where each discussion will be
headed with a theme that provide an idea about the discussion to be made next for helping reader
in understanding things effectively. Other than this the primary data will be presented using
graphs and chart to make it more explanatory
e. Wider reading and use of literature
Literature review is defined as that section of an investigation which support in gathering
information from the previously performed study in order to develop an understanding regarding
the area of study so that further plan for investigation can be performed. In this section the view

point of several authors get critically evaluated over the similar topic from tehir previously
performed investigation and presented findings. This support in developing a base of knwoeldge
about the study area and that further help in determining the pathway to be adopted to further
perform primary investigation and make justification based over the previously established
understanding for the current area of study.

as the best way to ascertain, collect, analyse, disseminate as well as implement information
regarding heath care and monitor outcomes of the interventions for patient and define

health care, there are some types of practices including private practice, group practice, hospital
based practices which helps in improving the health outcomes. The physicians who are hired by
hospitals will either work in a department of hospital or in hospital on practice itself. The

The importance of taking initiative for NHS to improve quality of services

like National Health Services to take initiatives that helps in improving the quality of services. It
initiatives is very important as it support in improving the health outcomes and also maximizing
the efficiency of system. It is significant for the health care organisation to indulge in specialised
method as well as tools that help in improvement. Intuitive and simple electronic medical records
software assist care professionals to get more reliable and efficient process of healthcare and
devote more time for providing satisfactory services related to health care. Apart from this,
taking effective initiatives also leads organisation to emphasize on needs and expectations of

based on more knowledge and understanding about the particular health issues. The NHS can
improve its quality of services by regularly improving the practices adopted for delivering the
services and taking care of the patient in rightful manner. Therefore it can be said that the
practice based initiative remain helpful in improving the quality of health care services as well as
care user. So, NHS can improve its quality of services by adopting the practice based initiative
where the health care practitioners can adopt the evident approach toward performing tehri
practices in effective manner. in this they can use their research in field as well as experience
they learn from working to encourage more different ways and practices for delivering the care
to patient. This in turn help in improving the overall outcome of the efforts made by the health
care practitioners in delivering services.
f. Dissemination planning
Dissemination plan can be stated as a plan which assistant disseminating the findings of
research to those individuals who will utilise the information in practice. There are some
stakeholders of NHS including patients, insurance companies, government, pharmaceutical
firms, physicians and other healthcare professionals. Disseminating the information to those
stakeholders is very necessary so, for communicating the information appropriately, the tools
like emails, telephonic communication and messages are used.
g. Report presentation and structure
The report structure is defined as one of the most crucial part of a research proposal that
represent the further flow of report for the final project after getting approved over the proposal.
It is consider as the blue print of the number of sections that are involve with the research project

current study for identifying the actual role played by the practice based initiative in improving
the overall performance of health care services and improving the care plan of patients, the

of investigation where the actual conclusion out of the data evaluated and findings extracted
from the analysis of primary and secondary data. This is actually a summary of report which
represent whether the objectives set at the starting of study will get accomplished and achieved
with the data gathered or not. Other than this, from the finding of the report the recommendation
is provided over the issues over which the study is based as well as for the further research to be
conducted from the findings that has been extracted throughout the study.

Reflection
My experience through out the journey of 6HC508 and 6HC511 was great as I become
able to develop my skills and knowledge in several manner which support me in enhancing my
practice and help in improving my overall performance. To explain my experience and learning
through this journey I am using Kolb reflection cycle which support in expressing whole
experience that I gain in effective manner.
Concrete experience : I was assigned with the project i.e. research and evidence based
practice in order to develop our understanding toward the importance of evidence based practice
within health care sector. While I was assigned with this research I was quite nervous as I do not
have much practice within conducting the research and I also worried about my performance
(Fewster-Thuente and Batteson, 2018). But then I decided perform it well by taking guidance
from my tutor and other mates of mine so that at the end of project I would be able to learn
something better which support in future practices. So, for performing this investigation I
prepare certain objectives on which whole study depends and for gathering information I make
use of secondary sources. This activity help me in having a good read over the past findings that
enhance my knowledge toward the importance of practice based initiative in improving the
quality of care delivered to patient.
Reflective observation: While conducting this investigation I observe that the practice
based initiative support a health care practitioner in improving the quality of services. This is so
because it help in improving the direction and activities used for treating patient as per eth
learning developed through experience and implementing the most effective way to treat patient.
This minimises the chances of discomfort of patient by making them more relaxed while
treatment and this practice based initiative also support in removing the wrong practices (Lehane,
2020). Other than this while performing investigation I realise that my time management skills
are inappropriate as the time which I decided was not going with the activities I was executing.
Other than this I found that my researcher skills are also required to be improve as when I was
gathering data from secondary sources then it was becoming more difficult for me to present data
in appropriate manner. As everythi8ng I was reading seems important to me from the view point
of study and due to this I gathered so many of data which I was difficult to short hand. But
throughout this work I realise that my communication skills are great as I was quite much good

in expressing my doubts in front of tutor and my other guides which support me in getting their
valuable support to perform my work effectively.
Abstract conceptualisation: From the journey of performing evidence based practices
research I realised that the practice based initiative is essential for improving the services quality
which a nurse deliver. For this the health care practitioners must focuses over the evidence and
experience that are gained through the experience and evidences that are gathered after treating a
patient so that the next one get more improved services (Morris, 2019). This help in
understanding eth importance of reflective practice. Other than this I found that for enhancing
my overall performance I need to learn the reflective practice and try to implement in my
working that help in enhancing my skills and knowledge for delivering a better care services.
Other than this I also need to overcome my weakness such as time management and researcher
skills which is essential for performing well.
Active experimentation: From the findings that I gathered through my experience I
realise that I have to work over improving my practices. So, I have decided that I will be using
the reflective practice after each of my action performed so that I can determine the strength and
weaknesses of mine and implement that effectively on my work for improving the quality of
performance (Grady, 2017). Other than this I decided to schedule the activities which I required
to perform each day to develop my time management skill and also put more emphases toward
performing research. This will not only support me in enhancing my knowledge but also help in
earning tactics to perform investigation in best possible ways.
