1.1Title Movie tickets online booking information system 1.2General Description A local cinema theatre has introduced online movie ticket booking system. It is named as MTOBIS. The aim is to give a good ticketing experience to the customers and improve the system’s efficiency. The information system is associated with several tasks: 1.Sign up for new customers and sign in for existing customers. To book ticket there is no need to sign in but loyal customers will receive offer so signing in is necessary (Urquhart & Fernandez, 2016). 2.Movie searching. Here also, no need to sign in to search movies. They need to choose type such as name of the movie, time of the show, type-2D or 3D, etc. 3.Ticketing. Payment can be done online for ticket booking using PayPal or credit card. If the online booking has been processed successfully, customer will receive an email with an attachment containing the booking confirmation. 4.Movie information update. The cinema manager will operate this. He or she will update the new movie information regularly. 1.3Users and Uses A user is the one who is accessing the information system. The user can control, update, or delete information in the system. The valid users who are associated with the movie tickets online booking information system are listed below. User 1: Information system Admin Use 1: The information system admin is responsible for managing customer’s account. Use 2: He is also responsible for managing the payment options and booking tickets for the users. User 2: Cinema Manager Use 1: Responsible for updating movie information regularly. Use 2: Update customer’s list and booking arrangement (Bonham-Carter, 2014). 1.3 Instance
Looking at the term ‘information system’ broadly, it does not only include information technology such as IT, hardware requirements and software products. Information system is a source of information to a wide number of recipients (Laudon & Laudon, 2015).The information system used in online movie ticketing uses various ways to deliver information to the customers. The customers are updated with new movie lists every day. The customers can book movie tickets from anywhere at any time. The customers who are not registered can also get access to the system to check about movies, time, and type (Sousa & Oz, 2014).Google Health is a real world example of information system. The Google health maintains data and information about various people’s profile. Their blood pressure, weight and many more details are kept in Google Health profile. There is an ‘Edit’ option which is provided to personalize the profiles. The manager of Google Health is responsible for giving updates and maintains activity record of the information system. These are available on the Google Health Website (Laudon, & Laudon, 2015).
2.ExternalDescriptionoftheInformationSystem There are inputs and outputs in an information system. By getting an input from the user, the information system pushes it for processing. The users get into work to give output. 2.1 User 1: Information system Admin a.Name of Input 1- sign in. The existing customers sign in to book ticket. The user gives relevant information about the movie he wants to book ticket for. b.Name of Input 2- New sign up. A new customer signs up for booking ticket online. The user is responsible for storing his account credentials. User 2: Cinema manager a.Name of input 1- update new movie list The existing list of movies is updated along with updating time for the show, type of the movie, etc. b.Name of input 2- updating booking The customer’s bookings for each and every movie are updated from time to time. The seating arrangements are also updated so that the status is shown on the information system(Urquhart & Fernandez, 2016). 2.2 Output User 1: Information system Admin a.Name of output 1- Customer’s account The customer is successfully signed in and viewed the movie list. He booked tickets if there are available seats and did the payment on PayPal (Laurini, 2014). b.Name of output 2- new customer’s account The account is opened and details are given by the customer. He gets access to movie lists and other statuses. User 2: Cinema manager a.Name of output 1- movie list updated The movie list is updated with new movies and their schedules and show time. b.Name of output 2- booking page updated The booking page gets updated after every booking.

The information stored here is used for reverting to customer’s booking. The security is also applicable for maintaining a secured database within the system (Romney, Steinbart & Cushing, 2000).

4.2Information Stores InformationStore 1: database files It is a type of internal information store. It deals with storing all the incoming and outgoing data within the system. InformationStore2: Persistence It encrypts data and helps the database to store information securely. 4.3 Communication Networks ExternalCommunicationNetworks The external processors communicate between each other to make the system work. Data is sent to movie list. The movie list is updated and the updated data gets stored in the database. Again, the customer’s account gets updated from time to time.
