INTRODUCTION
Operation management is the process of any organisation which provide contribution in
reference to continuous improvement of different types employees. It relates to the area of study
that is concerned with the administration of systems and processes which are involved in
production of goods and services. There are including conversion of inputs like raw materials
into output in efficient manner. Thus, it work at technology, work systems, location and facilities
planning, quality assurance as well as improvement. The main ail of the project to translate the
workers and material into goods and services. The present report is having two scenario and in
the first scenario selected organisation Hot point, which is American and European brand
company. It is connected to different types of process like marketing, manufacturing and selling
of home products. For second scenario selected organisation sunshine drinks, which is
manufacturing and selling fruit drinks into market. The presented report focus on critical
evaluation of effectiveness of operations management principles. There has been applied the
concept of continuous improvement in the company context. Furthermore, apply project life
cycle and critique the application of PLC used in a given context.
TASK 1
P1 Critical review regarding implementation of operations principle
The performance of the operation management will mainly emphasizes on the process of
marketing and operations. They can manage all appropriate information to establish and produce
the business strategy. The principles which related to firm should follow in order to obtain the
positive results, the principle stated as below -

1. Principle of Reality According to this principle a manager can focus on the
different tools rather than to problems because there is
no solution but tools can work any time (West, 2017).
2. Principle of organisation In the organisation every department interrelated to
each other and tackle their work in effective manner.

3. Principle of Fundamental Every organisation set their specific goals and
objectives in order to achieve their target production.

point to achieve their goals and objectives.
4. Principle of accountability In the particular principle refers that regarding to roles
and responsibilities. The particular task allotted to top
management to the employees. To every employee get
their roles and responsibility from their superiors in the
firm.
5. Principle of Success In the principle refers that success is equal to volatile
market. The success is depended on the different types
of demands and requirement of the buyers to fulfil the
expectations to produce new product in the market as
per their choices (Mok and Yang, 2015).
Six Sigma
Six sigma is one of the main methodology which is used by firm to sort out different
types of problems in reference to making improvement through tools and techniques. The
methodology utilise to solve problems which is getting support from power and strong tools. It is
mainly focused on the problems to remove in effective manage and manage all operations. The

Control This stage will maintain the process which is improved

business activities. Through the plan analysis the
processes and system. In reference to Hot point can launch
new product in market after that check whether the
product is having potential opportunity.
Lean Principle
Lean production is one of the important approach which is applied by management to
reduce the cost of unwanted things. It can provide products as per best quality and services after
reduce waste. These principles are used any organisation to create process and develop
innovative quality products in the subject to production. The firm hot point can be capable to
develop new product and quality goods to increase its productivity. Therefore, there are some of
the principle which can provide benefits regarding to new products. There are mentioned some
principles -
Define Value In the particular stage firm has been created value of new
product to present in front of different types of customers.

taste & preference.

new product is done n order to take feedback from the customer that whether the product is
fulfilling their expectations or not. There are defined some operations which has been followed
by the firm in order to improve the product
Priority to employee's need – The operation manager of Hot point search out about the
customer taste & preference after that put on the first priority. It can provide help to firm
regarding to improve efficiency. This is important to provide importance to their staff members
because they are time to time communicate, maintain interaction with customer on the behalf of
an organisation.

P 3 Each stage of the PLC to a given project
Product life cycle is the progression of an item through the four stages of its times on the
market. It is a combination of two forms in which first is product & second is life cycle of
product. PLC is helpful to enhance the quality of products which increase its value in the market.
As Sunshine Drink wants to come up with new energy drink with the name of spring water.
Company has various energy products which are available in the market. Organisation is
emphasis to satisfy the needs of consumers by providing quality products. As there are four
stages in product life cycle which are mention below:
Introduction stage: It is the first stage where the product is new in market and company
emphasis to aware the people about the product so that its sell can be maximize. In this stage
organisation does not charge high price because product is new and firm does not know
consumers will like it or not. As Sunshine Drink is launching new product and focuses to satisfy
the needs of consumers by providing quality products. In this stage, the cost of investment is
generally high and returns are generally low.
Growth: It is the second stage where sales of company is increasing as a result it can
earn higher revenue. The firm is emphasis to achieve economies of scale in order to enhance the
profits. In the stage management of Sunshine Drink is focuses to maintain quality in products so
that needs of consumers can fulfil. The firm make plans and strategy in order to earn higher
profits.
Maturity: It is the third stage of PLC when product reach to the maturity and in that stage
changes of growth are not higher because it has reach to the highest level. In that case Sunshine
Drinks wants to sustain in the market so that profits does not goes down.
Decline: In fourth stage of product life cycle product growth is goes down and growth
can be negative reason being popularity of product goes get disappear as a result sales of will
reduce. Consumers does not want to buy the product of company because they think they are not
getting value from it.
Project methodologies: According to this, variable task is cost, scope & time is constant.
As framework is done in order to initiate the project for gaining best results. For that purpose at
the time of implementation of project, needs & scope are require to be adjusted in order to get

problems and opportunities which can be arise in front of company.

enter in market with new product so that Sunshine Drinks can capture more share in the market
which help it to maximize the sales. For that purpose it is launching new product which is energy
drink with spring water.
Solution to the opportunity: In this regard it is important for the management of

PLC effectiveness is based upon two factors that are reliability and suitability. For that
purpose Sunshine drinks is launching energy drink with spring water. For better understanding
this water can be used and there are various stages of it which are as mention below:
Requirements: It emphasis to the idea in context to the launching of new product. As
Sunshine drinks have idea to launch new energy drinks with spring water.
Product design: This stage has emphasis to product design and for that purpose Sunshine
drinks make design its product so that maximum number of consumers can attract towards the
company and it leads to higher profitability (Turner, 2016).
Implementation: As Sunshine drinks make implement the idea of launching new energy
drink with spring water and it help the company to satisfy the desires of people.
Testing: In this stage product is tested and for that purpose review of consumers are very
helpful and through it Sunshine drinks can know products is valuable or not.

As from the above report, it has been analysed that it is require for an organisation to
manage to operations effectively so that project can be managed successfully. Operation
management principles help the corporation to achieve the goals. As continuous improvement
plan is beneficial to achieve the objectives. There are various stages of PLC which are required
to be analysed so that better project can be made. It is important to analyse the effectiveness of
PLC so that objectives of company can be accomplish as per the requirement. Work breakdown
