INTRODUCTION Organizational Behavior is the learning of human actions in companythat helps in setting organization and behavior of employees in it. It studies individuals’ behavior in the Company. It is categorized into three ways such as individuals in organization, work group and the behavior of organization. Report will include Company, power politics and culture which influenced team behavior and individual with their performance. It will also includeprocess and contenttheory of motivation. Furthermore, it will include relationship between culture, politics and power that enable team to succeed in the organization. TASK 1 Organization's culture, politics and power that influence individual and team Behavior and performance According to theChumg and et. al., (2016)organizational culture consist of values, beliefs and principles that is governed by the people in the organization. It also includes norms, systems, symbols and environment in the organization. As culture plays an important part in company. If the culture is good then employees are motivated to do work effectively and efficiently. Culture influences the individual and team behavior as is there is no employee engagement in the company and employees are not known to each other. As ifin organizationif the behavior of employees is not good towards work then it will influence culture of the organization. Due to changes in the policies and procedures by CEO performance of an employee is also influenced by it. It influences individual behavior as an employee is not interacting with other employees that will create conflict between them. Team behavior can be influenced as employees are not familiar with each and other so they are not behaving well with 2
others.Sodevelopingagoodorganizationalculturehelpsinenhancingthebehaviorof employees. Behavior of employees also affect their performance as if employees are not talk to each other than in problem there is no one to help them and that will affect their performance. As per the viewCoccia, (2015) organizational politics is defined as improving personal and organizational interest that influence working of the company. Politics exist in every organization. Politics influence individual and team behavior as it create negative impact on behavior of employees. As politics deals with the relationship in the organization as if the relation of employee with the manager is good then it behaves well with employee and enhancing its growthin the Company. Through this type of behavior individuals are affected as they are getting disappointed with company's policies. As there is a conflict between employees that will disturb environment of the company. Kitchin,(2017)statedthatorganizationalpoweristhepracticethatisorganized according to one's perspective that give order to someone else to do work. It is mainly used in the organization where manager is assigning task to employees and they have to complete that task. Astherearedifferenttypesofpowerthatinfluencetheorganizationalbehavior.Asin organizationif manager assign task to its subordinates then it has power to control things in the company. Power gives negative impact on employees and through this behavior of employees also changed and that will affect their performance. As changes done by CEO inCompanywill affect behavior of employees. There was launch of new policy with use of CEO’s power including more control over department. So building up of team which will be solving issues of motivation and other problem within organisation is very much important. This will be considering all the aspect like that of politics, culture and power within organisation which is impacting team and individual behaviour. So there are certain motivational theories which could be applied within organisation including both content and process. Process and content theory: 4
Process theory is mainly concerned with how a motivation should occur and what type of process can have influence on the motivation of the employees in an organisation. With the help of process theory, the behaviour of employees can be enhanced in order to improve the sales performance of the employees. With the help of content theory an organisation can focus on why a changes is to be implemented in the organisation but it does not explain hoe a change is to be implemented. Content Theory of motivation:Content theories are focused on what the organization is providing to its employees. This include Mas low's needs hierarchy theory. Maslow'sNeedHierarchyTheoryofmotivation:Thistheorystatesthatevery individual is having five needs that is being fulfilled by the company. These needs are physiological,Safety,Social,Self-esteemandSelf-actualizationneeds.Byapplyingthe motivational theories can help in achieving the goal or addressing the issues of the organisation such low employee satisfaction in sales department, improving the quality of performance of sales department and to develop the organisational culture within the organisation. These issues can be addressed by Maslow's Need Hierarchy as explained below: Physiological needs:These include the most basic needs of an individual such as food, water. If these needs are not fulfilled then employee can't work properly. These needs are necessity for performing the sales for the company. If organization fulfill these needs them employee will perform well in the company and there is growth in organization that will lead to achieve sales targets within the company.When the psychological needs of the sales department are met in the effective way it will improve the quality of sales performance of the employees which will ultimately increase the level of job satisfaction for the employees in the organisation. Also, if the 5
new CEO considers these need it will increase the quality of employees performance andwill results in employee engagement of sales department. Safety needs: This includes shelter, health and wellbeing. If physiological needs are fulfilled then this need arises that is safety needs. Nothing is important than safety at the workplace. So Organization have to provide proper protection and safety to its employees so that they can help in achieving the goal of company. If employees feel secure then it will enhance their productivity that will help Organization in growing for future (Quinn, 2016).It is important for the organisation to provide job security to the sales men and this will increase the level of job satisfaction in them. Is sales men feel secured with their job if they do not perform well or increase sales this increase the job satisfaction level among the sales department.Also, if the new CEO provides job security to salesmen it will motivate the employees to improve their performance in the sales. Social Needs:This includes sense of belonging, affection. If both the above needs are fulfilled then this need come in an employee. Employee in Organization will be given love and affection so that they will not alone. As it is important that employees to be loved otherwise they will not work properly. If there is a sense of belonging in Organization then employees are more involved in the activities of company that will help in achieving goal of it. As through this sales also increases and helps in achieving target of sales department.By fulfilling the social needs of sales team plays an important role in increase in the level of job satisfaction. As sales team works hard in order to motivate customers for purchasing oforganisation'sproducts and after working so hard it is the duty of organisation to develop a sense ofbelongingnessamong the employees. will result in high level of job satisfaction in a team. This develops the organisational culture of the organisation in which CEO plays an important role. Esteem Needs:This includeself-respect, being valued and appreciated by others. As employees in want self-respect and valued in the organization. If employees are not respected in the organization then they feel demotivated and cannot do work properly. Esteem needs helps in achieving goals of sales department as if they are respected by other than they will give their best inn achieving success (Hunter, 2018).Fulfilling the esteemed needs of the sales department could help in developing a positive organisational culture by not scolding them and respecting the efforts and motivating them for improving their performance in the future. This will increase the status of the salesmen and they will feel that they are the important part of the organisation. This will motivate the sales team to improve their performance in the future and will also increse their job satisfaction. Self- actualization:It includesdesire to grow and having high level of needs. This is desire to gain something in the company. As if these needs are fulfilled then employee is doing its work to its fullest potential and achieve goal of sales department in company.It is important for the new CEO of the organisation to provide opportunities for the sales department to grow and develop within the organisation. If employees grows it will also improves its sales performance and their quality of work. Due to this sales department will be able to achieve their sales target on or before the target date which will definitely improve the level of job satisfaction in sales team. Therefore, if all the above needs of an individual is fulfilled then it will help in achieving the goal of sales department and that will lead to growth in company. This theory defines that people will be treated equally and are motivated too. It will be considered that they are given fair cost to their work. In this people compare their work, cost and benefits with each other in company. According to this theory every employee will be treated equally in providing salary, reward, promotion. If there is inequality at the workplace that will reduces quality work by the employees. If employees is treated equally in company then it will help in achieve goals of the company. Inequality at workplace it demotivate employees in Organization. Employees feel secure if they are treated equally in the company(Elsmore, 2017). Effective application of behaviour motivational theories, concepts and models According to theSelamat, Nordin and Fook, (2016)motivation concepts are of two type’s intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation can be defined as which came from interest of an individual from inside. In this concept motivation arises within inside of an employee. Extrinsic motivation can be defined as which comes from outside of an employee. These include money, rewards, grades etc. These concepts of motivation will influence the behavior of an individual at workplace. As if employee is motivated from inside that will help Organizationin growing for future. Self-motivation plays an important part in the company. It helps in enhancing the work for company and done work effectively and efficiently. These conceptsinfluencebehaviorasemployeesometimesgetdemotivatedfromoutside.Self- motivation also an impact on its behavior in the company. As motivation is an effective application that will influence behavior.
