INTRODUCTION
Organisational behaviour is the study of human behaviour which shows the way people
behave within and outside the organisation to create more efficient business practises. This
present report will going to cover organisational behaviour in BBC company in past or present.
Under this report influence of culture, politics and power on the behaviour of others and factors
which motivate individual and team to achieve organisational goal is to be discussed in this
report. Further, in this report an understanding is provided about to work effectively with others
in organisation and also concepts and philosophies of organisational behaviour is to be explained
in this report.
TASK 1
P1. Organisational culture, power and politics behaviour of managers in BBC
According to BBC case study previously there were no effective organisational culture
and behaviour of managers towards employees was not at all bearable. Employees started
leaving that organisation because behaviour of managers towards employees was not good. They
are facing lot problem regarding sexual harassment, bullying and many more.(Taylor, 2018.) But
as of now culture is totally different and to understand that culture Handy's culture typology
model in applied and under this model four types of culture is given which is to be applied in
most of the organisation.

Power culture- under this type culture power is only in the hands of top authorities of the
organisation. Employees of the organisation do not have power to express their view and to share
their view in organisation. All the responsibility regarding decision of the company or to
delegate job to the employees.
Task culture- under this culture employees are given right to share their views in the
organisation and also team are developed in organisation to achieve targeted business goals.
Under this culture work is totally depended upon team performance of the organisation.
Person culture- under these types of culture more power and importance was given to the
employees of the organisation. Individual are more concern to achieve their own profit over
organisation's profit.
Role culture- under this culture job assign to employees depending on their qualification,
education, knowledge to achieve organisational objectives. Under these employees are ready to
take challenges achieving targeted future goals of the organisation.(Mester and et.al., 2018. )

Previously under BBC they applied Bureaucratic model which is similar to power culture
which is not at all suitable for to run organisation operation in business market. After the
appointment of Dyke, he applied models and culture which is exactly opposite to bureaucratic
model. They work with the ethical manner and also applied Mckinsey 7's model and managerial
process model to achieve profit in the organisation and which also gets successful. To test
organisational durability they applied structural functional model by which they able to develop
effective solutions of the issues running in an organisation. Now employees of the organisation
are motivated and also taking challenges in achieving targeted future goals of organisation.

After effective changes have applied, a new organisational culture is developed by
managers in order to apply creativity in organisation. In past history of BBC there is no effective
and better relationships between employees and top authorities are only deciding power and
culture by which overall decision making strategy influenced in organisation and several
problems are faced in the culture of workplace. But as of now organisational culture is
completely different from the past culture of BBC.
TASK 2
P2. a) content and process theories of motivation
Motivation theories applied by organisation just to motivate employees to take
organisational challenges and to achieve targeted future needs of the company. To get the best
out of employees BBC managers have applied both content and process theories.

 Content theories
Content theory applied by BBC to find factors of the employees which is preset in them to work
with full energy to achieve organisational objectives. Under these managers have applied
Maslow's hierarchy of need theory into management assumption. In which managers find several
needs of the employees. These theories are divined in two factors that theory X and theory Y.
under first category which is theory X managers developed dominant management approach in
which certain assumptions are developed by them which include employees tendency of avoid
work load, to develop efforts most people controlled, threaten and punish employees. These are
the misinterpreted factors which applied by most of the managers.(Fallatah and Syed, 2018.)
To overcome with this issue managers comes with theory Y which is exactly opposite of
theory X. Mentioned factors in this includes that work is need to be natural in organisation so
achieve targeted goals. For getting work with employees threaten and punishment is the worst
process, peoples only work when their basic needs gets fulfilled which motivated them to work
and to take challenges of the organisation.

According to above observation theory X leads to Maslow's deficiency needs and theory
Y tends to fulfil development needs of the employees.
 Process theories
Process theory applied by managers to analyse the process in which person work process
in followed to identify inner skills to sustain them in organisation for long term purpose. Under
these, two theories are applied that is Reinforcement and Goal setting theories and Expectancy
and Equity theories.( Vito and et.al., 2018.)
Reinforcement and goal setting theories
Under this theory people only get motivated when they accept specific challenges and
goals and also feedbacks to rectify their work. Two factors are considered under this theory that
is positive reinforcement of work where rewards, and higher motivation is provided to employee
in getting effective output. And another one is negative reinforcement where work performance
get weaker by punishment strategy.
Expectancy and equity theory
Under this theory expectancy focuses on individual behaviour of doing performance and
outcomes. In this individual will decide whether work job can be accomplished or not. To get
the desired result individual will decide whether to work in groups or individually to achieve
targeted goals of the company. People tends to improve their work when they get reward for
doing work which motivated them to work hard in the organisation.
These are the two theories by which the best work will be achieved by both individual
and team members to achieve organisational objectives.
b). Impact of motivational theories in improving effectiveness of team work in BBC
In the past work of BBC, many employees leave company by complaining that they are
getting bad behaviour from the managers of the employee. In their compliant they have
mentioned that they are facing harassment and bullying by the management teams. To overcome
with these issue new leaders have been appointed in organisation to get the best effective work
from employees and also to sustain them in organisation.
By applying both content theory and process theory company will able to maintain
employee loyalty and also will able to motivate employees to work in the organisation. Both this

theory help managers to establish trust and confidence among employees regarding their job
security which encourage them to work hard for the organisation to achieve future goals. Content
theory helps to identify basic needs of the employees and by developing that needs company will
able to sustain employee for long term purpose.(Crowston and Fagnot,2018.) Many employees'
complaint about the harassment and bullying they face in organisation therefore, it is essential
for company to provide them full job security in both health and in their occupation. Providing
effective security helps company to get the best effective work as possible.
In order to encourage employees in BBC organisation, different motivational theories
applied by company like Maslow's hierarchy of needs, two factor theory, expectancy and equity
theory by which they able to motivate employees and also able to sustain them in organisation by
developing long-term relationships. By giving rewards in their performance also motivated
employee to work hard in the organisation. Use of these theories provide satisfaction among
employees regarding emotional intelligence development and also effective leadership, power,
and culture of organisation helps them to work with proper accuracy and in proper time.
To improve the productivity of the employees of BBC company also have applied
Behavioural model and organisational behavioural model by which employee will able to
improve their productivity of work and provide best the best result to organisation. To develop
effective communication between top authority and subordinates, behavioural model has been
applied by the organisation to understand needs of the employees. Another theory that is
organisational behaviour modification has been applied in organisation to develop effective code
of conduct in workplace and also to find employees needs. This theory provides an effective
result in BBC which has almost finished bureaucratic powers in the organisation.
TASK 3
a. Identification and explanation on the differed kind of the team within BBC and why it is
important.
Teams is for with the group of people and they works as to achieve the one common goal
to the enterprise. The main object of BBC in terms to enhance the ability of employees to have
the participation in planning, problem solving and decision making serve the customer in better
manner. Thus, team are defined in the following manner as are-

Problem solving teams- This kind of the team are usually frames for the some period of time
and put their major consideration over solving the specific issue. In addition to this, it relates
with the group of people that works as to resolve the issues. BBC framed team for the temporary
people of time by incorporating staff from different organisation levels with the relevant skills
set. It helps to deal with the issues as they arise.
Functional team- In this, the functional team is composed of the number of organisation
members from the several vertical levels of organisational hierarchy that performs functions
effectively. In addition to this, functional team have various subordinates and manager and they
have authority to manage internal operations and external relationship for the particular
departments and division of the enterprise.
Virtual team- This are the team who belongs to group of people and they have to participate in
the common projects with help of making collaborative efforts. These are the effective team
while they work as they are highly independent. The main purpose of virtual team is to manage
the all work so that they can contribute maximum to the enterprise. Thus, the main purpose is to
achieve the share goals and believes.
Hence, it can be said that the BBC is taking various initiatives in order to conduct the activities
of the team in the sufficient mode. This is one of the effective things that helps to conduct
operations effectively.
b. Description on effectiveness of team in the BBC with the use of appropriate theory.
Team to the enterprise must be formed in order to carry out the business functions in
proper manner. There are various appropriate model that develops maturity ability and establish
relationship in terms to make changes in leadership style. In this, Tucksman model will be
helpful in developing team performance and it has to be defined in the following manner as are-
STAGE 1- Forming- They are having high dependence on leader for guidance and directions.
The roles and responsibilities of the leader are not so clear. Under it, individuals has not yet
gelled each other. In this, leader must be clear about the answer the lot of questions about the
purpose, objectives and external relationship of the team.
STAGE 2- Storming- This is the second stage of development. Under it, team needs to put their
consideration over the goals to avoid becoming distracted by relationship and emotional issues.
Furthermore, conflicts occurs as personal agendas in order to light the impact over the

performance of the team. In addition to this, members to the team asserts themselves and start
questioning the decision and challenging the authority.
STAGE 3- Norming- In this, group finds the ways in order to resolve the conflicts and being
emerged as the cohesive unit. This is one of the effective phase in which the team members starts
to come together, developing processes, establishing ground rules and clarifying the things in the
effectively. In addition to this roles and responsibilities are needed to be cleared so that leader of
the BBC can perform their business functions effectively.
STAGE 4-Performing- The team of the BBC should have clear vision and mission and they
must be capable in terms to spending the team activities effectiveness. The performance is
delivered with the help of people working effectively together. In this, the confidence grows in
terms of both the individually and with other members of the group as they perform towards to
achieve one common goal to the enterprise. In addition to this, it can be said that team requires
the delegated task and projects from leader.
TASK 4
a. Description on organisation concept and theory and suggest how team performance and
productivity can be improved within BBC.
The enterprise as BBC can improve its team performance and productivity with the use of
path goal theory. They must perform their business function in terms to influence and
complement the followers skills towards overcoming the weakness areas. The leaser need to put
their major focus over the motivating and encouraging teams so that activities can be conducted
effectively. In addition to this, BBC can have the use of model so that he is able to bring

improvement in productivity and performance. Thus, it is defined in below presented manner as
are-
Path goal theory- This is one of the effective theory that is argued that there must be
systematically specifying the style and behaviour in which the employees can fit in the work
environment towards attending the one common goal to the enterprise. The performance of the
employees depends over the working of the team and they will perform their work effectively if
they are satisfied. In order to motivate the employees it is essential to reward the employees in
timely manner so that performance can be effective and common goal can be achieved. Thus,
style of path goal theory has been defined in the following manner as are-
 Directive path- It refers to the situation in which leader must have idea that what is to be
expected from the employees and how to perform the task efficiently. This is very
effective term that is assistive in order to get rid of vague and unclear job responsibilities.
Thus, it is the situation that must be followed at the time of the unstructured and complex
situation and at the time when follower is inexperienced. In this, it can be said that
behaviour plays the essentials role at the time of demanding the performance that helps to
achieve one common goal.
 Supportive leadership- In this, leader has to put it major consideration over the needs of
the follower and it also showing the concern for the welfare and creating the effective
working environment. Thus, it is the system that is inclusive of enhance the follower self
esteem and work as to make the job more interesting. Thus, BBC should work as to
promote the high growth to the enterprise.
 Participative leadership- In this, leader of the BBC should work as to make the
effective consultation with the followers and take their ideas into the account in order to
make the decision effectively. This is the effective term that is helpful in performing the
task action carefully. This will be the effective approach at the time when followers are
the expect and they able to achieve the each common goal to the enterprise.
 Achievement oriented leadership- Under this stage, there is need to setting the
challenging goals and this both will be helpful in work and self improvement of the
individual. Under this, high standards are expected and demonstrated. In addition to this,
leader shows the faith in capabilities of the follower to get succeed. This kind of the
approach will be helpful in order to lead the organisation activities in expert manner.

Hence, it can be concluded that there have made many changes in the culture of the BBC
throughout the years. There was as ineffective system of communication across the differ
department and it is also helpful in terms to improve profitability and productivity to the
enterprise. In this, the lack of uniformity presents in the management and this all creates an
unhealthy culture in BBC. It is crucial to bring improvement so that all things can be done
effectively.
B. Description on the main barriers to effective performance within BBC.
In the organisation as BBC, was facing with the various issues on the part of the
employees, staff members so that effective performance can be conducted effectively. In addition
to this, it can be said that there was problem in terms to the communication so that productivity
and performance of the workers can be improvised. Therefore, it is essential to create unhealthy
culture at BBC. There are something that helps to conduct the activities of the enterprise
systematically as-
 Improper working environment- The working environment at BBC is so improper.
There was so many issues in terms to bullying, harassment and discrimination among the
employees. This all kind of the factors creates negative impact on the working of the
entity. This all act as let to create the barriers in performance in the enterprise.
 Lack of proper management- Th management at the BBC musty have proper skills and
competence so that they are able to conduct the business activities effectively. In this
term, there was issue against the equality between the genders. This all are must be
improvised in order to perform functions effectively.
CONCLUSION
Based on the above report it can be concluded that organisation behaviour plays
essentials role in terms to create the positive working environment. The ineffective working lead
to create the negative impact on the working of the enterprise. In addition to this, report has
cover the business activities of BBC, and also things as organisation theory, team development
theory and handy four theories has to defined so that all things can be conducted effectively.
