INTRODUCTION
Organisational behaviour involves structure and culture of any business and workforce
motivation effectively. The report will cover influence and impact of organizational behaviour as
well as culture on performance and behaviour within BBC. In addition to this, the report will also
demonstrate an overview of culture, politics and power in BBC using relevant examples and
models which affect the behaviour of business and employees at workplace. There is a critical
evaluation included in this report which describes the relationship between culture, motivation,
power and politics. Process and content theories are also explained with motivational techniques
that help to achieve team and individual goals. In addition to this, key componenets of a effective
and an ineffective team will be discussed in this report along with their differences. Development
theories, Tuckmen team development model and relevant models are also included in order to
complete concept and philosophies of business behaviour and how they affect in terms of
positive or negative within BBC will be discussed in this report.
TASK 1
P1 Organisational culture, politics and power influence on individual and team behaviour
performance
It can be said that there is an impact of business politics, power and culture upon team
behaviour and performance which affect the performance level and behaviour of both
business and employees at workplace effectively.
INFLUENCE OF CULTURE
Culture has three major factors which affect the behaviour and performance in BBC in
terms of role, person, task and power culture which are classified by Handy:
The power culture: Power culture is described Handy as Web. The concentration power
of firm is reflected by family businesses which can be small or large in nature. The main
roles and responsibilities are depended on family members as they are the owner of
business. There are only few members who have adequate knowledge of business
strategies, concentration power and decision making. Thus, the strategies and plans are
formulated by family members but implement by any outside members due to the lack of
implementation strategies and plans on their own. This will have trust on individuals more
than any group or committee members that it also changes very quickly.
The role culture: The role culture is also defines as a Greek temple in which the apex of
temple makes place for the decision making process in business and pillars are the
functional units which help to implement decisions regarding apex. According to this,
pillars are the important aspect that these are the strength of business which helps to stand
and stable itself which is also run by paper system method. The roles culture is only
suitable for that firm where the business makes regular changes. The role culture is crucial
and important for government departments, public utilities and sector and for the local
authorities as well.
The task culture: Task culture represents BBC characteristics and involves development
and departmental activities which are so dynamic for the business such as extensive

research. BBC is also able to become a part of anticipation with the specialties, integration,
communication, functions and liaison between departments effectively and efficiently. It
can be said that the task culture has an impact on decision making as well as performance
for team and individual in both positive and negative terms.
The person culture: The person culture is a characteristic and part of the model or
structure of organisation management consensus, where the determination of path and
structures within individual is pursued by BBC. Reporting relationship will help to
determine suitability of culture towards management and for the groups also. The person
culture is not suitable for BBC that it reflects the culture of a person within the business
effectively.
INFLUENCE OF POLITICS
Decrease production: It can be said that political changes affect production process
managed by employees at workplace which also has a great negative impact on
profitability. Individual plays politics at workplace lose their concentration as well as
attention towards work. This will decrease the production effectiveness. They are
disturbing elements in business pay their attention towards back biting and leg pulling
which affect behaviour of their subordinates effectively.
De-motivate employees: Politics at workplace will affect motivation of employees
towards their individual work and rewards benefits as well. This will also decrease their
individual skills and knowledge and they lose their attention and interest and attend office
just for sake. The best performances are also get unnoticed in the presence of politics
between employees.
Stress and wrong information: Individual within firm finds more difficulties and issues
while communicating with their fellow workers dues to the effective fear of leaking
information and secrets effectively. Individuals do not trust each other in the presence of
politics. , human resource management is crucial for firm in order to select and use
appropriate resources in operations which will help employees to improve and develop
their individual performances that helps to increase skills and knowledge.
Influence of power: It can be said that power is an authority which is provided by top
management or business to managers or leaders handling all the work in order to manage
performance of organization that helps to increase production and profitability. It can be
said that there are a lot of activities considered by business in order to run company
effectively and human resource department plays an important role in this by providing
business services which helps to enhance production and anticipated profits. Power
influences the culture and behaviour of employees at workplace if used negatively.

The motivational theory was developed by Abraham Maslow in 1940 which is the earliest and
widely known theory.
Physiological needs: These are the basic and common needs of an individual in his or her life
which is necessary for surviving in this world. These are water, food, shelter and sleep. In the
lack of these needs a human being is not able to work effectively.
Safety and security: Health and safety of employees at workplace is important for BBC
business in order to assure workplace safety. . The key of business success is all about effective
management and control of different operations and activities involved in firm that helps to earn
profitability. This will also help business to achieve its desired goals and objectives which will
provide strength to business other functional activities.
Self-actualisation: Self actualisation can be described as a desire for an individual in order to
grow and develop with his or her full potentiality. It is analysed that people are likely to select
best opportunity for them in terms of versions, task and position. These are essential for an
individual and should be satisfied at each and every level.
ALDERFER THEORY
There are three needs are described by Alderfer which are known as ERG and defined
below:
Existence need: It can be said that these are the individual physiological needs related to health
and safety with all the necessities. Existence of such needs affect life of an individual as well as
living standard.
Relatedness need: Every individual needs a good relationship with family members, superiors
and peers. These can be described in the form of Maslow hierarchy needs.
Growth need: These are the important as well as essential needs of an individual in order to
improve and develop personal growth which helps towards self improvement and progression.
This will also help to enhance skills and knowledge in workers.
HERZBERG TWO FACTOR THEORY
The theory describes some motivational factors which helps to enhance satisfaction
towards work and motivate an individual to reduce elements of hygiene of dissatisfaction
effectively. Thus, the theory defines that feelings are not each time opposite to each other.
Expectancy: The theory describes that an individual believe in his own efforts which he is
making at workplace towards task will lead towards success. The theory believes in hard work
done by employees at work place according to their performances.

Instrumentality: An individual or a person believes that there is a certain connection between
goals and activities which can be only fulfilled by instrumentality. An individual is also able to
take rewards and incentives by performing well in task effectively.
Valence: It is known as a degree which an employee gets for performing best in task in order to

profitability.
ADAM’S EQUITY THEORY
The equity theory by Adam define that all the individuals and employees working in the

does not take their roles and responsibilities seriously which affect their operations and
production. Team members in an effective team try to achieve their goals and objectives
which improve skills and knowledge. Here are some characteristics of an effective team
and it members.
Open discussion: A group of effective team and its members participate in all activities
through open communication and other soft skills which will help them to communicate
ideas and thoughts. They try to put their hundred percent in efforts and communication and
also prepare for listening and learning. Such types of open discussion will help to make
team members effective and also provide organisation to achieve its common goals and
objectives.
Situational leadership: Effective team members also use situational leadership in order to
manage their operations that help to enhance production and profitability. This will also
help them to achieve goals and objectives.

thoughts.
Performing: Team members make plans and strategies in order to achieve their target and
objectives as soon as possible and they does not require any help from other. This will help
to improve their performances.

It can be said that the business behaviour concept is considered with path goal theory in BBC. This
will help to improve and develop productivity and profits. The theory is based on those leadership
styles and behaviour which is suitable for the employees at workplace. This will help workers to
work with peaceful environment in order to contribute best efforts that help to achieve individual
goals. The effective and efficient management of human resource activities and employees
feelings will help business to increase its strengths and power to compete others in the
market
Path goals theory: It can be said that a business is successful when it remain stable in the market.
It is very important for the growth and development of market expansion in order to achieve BBC
goals and objectives effectively. The theory also helps to identify leadership style because it is
made by formers. This helps to create effective environment at workplace within employees which
helps to achieve production goals.
Communication: Communication is in formal and informal way will help to convey information.
