INTRODUCTION
Organizational behavior can be considered as the most essential term in each business
organisation and plays most effective role at work place. It is a very interesting term but it can
also determine as the most challenging for firm (Acharya, S. and et. al., 2011). This term is all
about concerning an individual or group of people who are working together in order to
achieving some common goals and objectives. For this particular report BBC is a chosen
company, which is known as most popular broadcaster public company. The firm is focused on
providing appropriate information to public in term of gaining money and growth. This report
contents the study about influence of culture, politics and power on the behavior of others in an
organization, various theories related with organizational behavior will also discussed in detailed
manner.
TASK 1
P1. (A) Handy's culture typology to discuss organizational culture
Organizational culture is a fundamental study which helps in establishing a proper
understanding about what goes on in firm and how they are operating their business function and
what strategies will be used by firm in order to enhance their working ability and performance.
Handy’s culture typology is most effective in explaining the influence of culture. This can be
classified among four different aspects which are described as under:
Power culture: This is the most important element of culture typology, in an organisation
power is held in few of individual who are having the capacity to manage it in most
appropriate manner. In this people has to play some roles as per the created rules and
regulation of power culture. This is considered as strong culture, through which quick
decision has to be made by employees in order to carry out firm’s activities in right
direction.
Task culture: In this type of culture teams are designed in order to accomplishing nay
goals and task which are more effective in organizational growth and success. In this
teams and groups are formed on the basis of different skills and capabilities of
employees. In this people are work together for achieving some common goals and

objectives. BBC is focused on creating such kind of teams in order to completion of some
specific task that has some huge value for company , As in this, each and every team
member has to contribute equally and their best so that task can be achieved in most
innovative manner.
Person culture: This is most effective culture as human resource can be considered as the most
essential assets for firm and they are contributing their best for attaining desired goals and
objectives (Adeniji, 2011). In this individual is more concerned about their own self and their
performance rather than the organizational goals and objectives.
Role culture: It refers as most significant culture, in this employees are having some kind
of roles and responsibility which are assigned by firm as per the skill and ability of
person in order to gaining some effective outcomes and results. Power and role of an
individual can be measure by the position in an organizational structure.
(B) The influence of culture, politics and power on behavior of others in an organisation.
In today’s scenario each business organisation is focused on establishing an effective
behavior among organizational employees in order to carry out firms work and activities in more
smooth way. The organizational behavior may influence through the culture, politics and power,
these three are having a huge impact on organizational performance in negative as well as
positive manner. In a business organisation, behavior is consist as most essential element which
plays essential role in building an effective working environment in order to increasing their
performance and working ability of employees at work place , so that firm can get more profit
and revenue in this competitive market. As a multinational British corporation company BBC is
focused on implementing an effective culture in which people can contribute their best and share
their experience with others who all are work with more coordination in respect of gaining a
significant position at market place.
Power and politics are also refereed as a most essential part of firm as each business organisation
is focused on implementing appropriate plans and policies in respect to moving forward towards
a right direction with proper establishment of resources and firms activities (Armache, 2012).
These roles and policies are very much effective in building an effective relationship between
organizational culture and people who are working as employee, worker and subordinates.

As a well organized and reputed company BBC is focused on establishing an effective
organizational culture in order to analyzing the strength and weakness of employee’s who are
contributing their best for gaining high growth and success. Politics are common in each
business organisation some are good for firm and its employee’s development and some are
impacted on organizational whole performance. At the working environment of BBC huge
politics arises and even these are not having any value for company or its growth. Eventually
BBC is focused on avoiding politics in order to carry out their business activities in right
direction with the help of employees or workers who are very much willing to gaining proper
knowledge and idea about organizational work. Politics may arise when employees are not
feeling comfortable or satisfied with the plans and policies of firm. So, they generate some issues
which may impact on growth and productivity of firm and this may cause various problems in
firm’s long term plan. In a business firm some people are having power in order to taking
effective decision which is beneficial for firm. It is necessary for organizational member to use
the power in right place so negative environment will not be taking place.

P2) (A) The content and process theory of motivation.
In a business organisation manager and higher authority is very much focused on encouraging
employees in order to enhancing their performance and working ability to perform any task and
duty at work place. Extrinsic and intrinsic are the most applicable motivational theories which
are most important in an organisation to motivate employees for their effective and better work.
Extrinsic can be considered as the external firm of motivation (Bolino and et. al., 2013). On the
other side intrinsic motivation can be described as internal form of motivation. Intrinsic
motivation arises when people do work as per their interest and choice because they are enjoying
it and extrinsic motivation occurs when an individual doing any kind of work or task for gaining
some outside rewards and prices. BBC is mainly focused on using two major theories which
includes motivational and content theory. The process theory is very much essential in nature
and helpful in motivating workers for contributing their best at work place, so that productivity
can be enhanced and firm get more profit and revenue.

(B) Motivational techniques which are helpful in increase working efficiency of employees
BBC widely applying two major theories for the purpose of improving working ability
and performance of employees. Content theory is considered as the most important need theory ,
which can be classified among various categories, these are evaluated as under:

Maslow's need hierarchy theory: This is the most important theory of motivation, it explains
different needs and wants of an individual that are described in a pyramid and it is more essential
in effectively perform all business and its activities is most efficient direction. Each individual is
focused on fulfilling their basic needs such as food, shelter and cloths. Mostly companies are
also concern on safety and security of employees at work place. Self actualization is also
involved in this and plays most important role in solving problem that are faced by employees in
an organisation.
Herzberg's motivation-hygiene theory: This theory is widely applied by firm in order to
encourage their employees at work place for developing their skills and ability to perform any
task and duty (Burnard and Bhamra, 2011). This theory helps in maximizing the level of job

satisfaction in an organizational firm so that employees can get more effective and efficient
responsibilities for performing various tasks. This includes various factors that provide

employee’s salary, company policy, recognition, growth, responsibilities, working conditions,

Alderfer's ERG Theory: This is also most essential theory of motivation, its mainly categorized
among three parts such as existence needs, growth needs and relatedness needs. Existence needs
are depend on all important desires fundamental desires of employees that are needs to be
fulfilled by organisation in most appropriate direction. Relatedness needs considered as to
finding social and external needs by maintaining efficient relationship with employees, co-
workers and subordinates.
Process theory:
This theory includes that how to establish motivation and encouragement at work place.
This is classified among various theories in which some are described as under:
vroom's expectancy theory: Each individual having some sort of goals and objectives which are
different from each other, these objective plays most effective role in motivating people for their
work or task in order to completing them in most effective manner. Vroom has argued that the
performance of an individual will improve through enhancing their skills and working ability at
work place by providing proper and practical knowledge about the assigned work.
Adam's equity theory: This is considered as the most effective theory which consist that in a
business organisation each employee should be treated as equal basis, so any kind of
differentiation will not take place as it has a huge impact on overall performance of an individual
by discouraging them (Coccia, 2014). Equity can be managed at work place in respect to
measuring the contribution of people which are made by them in order of accumulating result
and output. Employees are the people who contribute their best at work place for gaining some
growth and benefits.

their employees in an organisation. Company is focused on effectively utilizing motivational
theories in to their proper action just to enhancing profit and revenue in desired period of time.

to their employees in order to enhancing their productivity which is helpful in attaining high

employees so that they can work in more efficient manner without having any kind of stress and
tension. Teams are building for the purpose of attaining some kind of similar goals and
objectives of people who are involved in a single team. The business organisation like BBC is
widely concern on enhancing their productivity through implementing an effective coordination
among organizational employees. The productivity can be measured as effective or ineffective
in nature which is evaluated as under:
Effective team: These types of teams are very much essential at work place and playing most
important role for enhancing the performance of firm. The members of such kind team are
having a an effective and better understanding with each other and the knowledge level of
employees are good as compared to other team members (Collings, Scullion and Vaiman, 2011).
They work on the basis of mutual understanding of employees in order to resolving the issues

Functional team: This can be considered as the most effective team which plays most effective
role in an organisation. It has a huge control on each operational activity of firm as the team

responsibility of such kind of team is to manage a proper flow of communication in different
departments that are helpful in gaining organizational goals and objectives in well planned
manner. BBC includes various members for consisting record keeper, progress chaser,
document controller and team leader.
Problem solving: These types of teams are building just for resolving the issues and obstacle that

Virtual team: These are more effective in nature and implemented people who are belonging

through providing various products and services to their customers in order to satisfying the

creating more friendly and effective working environment for firm in respect of increasing their

them in most effective manner.
Importance of team work activity:
Implementation of team is more effective in firm’s growth and success, a well managed team
helps in reducing the workload from employees.
Building a team is effective in establishing perfect coordination among team member in order to
accomplishing goals and targets in desired period of time.
Tuckman and Jensen's model of team development:
This refers as the most effective model of team development at workplace, this is widely
applied by firm in order to building effective teams:

In order to enhancing the performance of team manager of BBC has a huge concern over
proper utilization of resources which are available at work place. BBC is widely focused on
adopting path goal theory as it is more effective for improving team performance. Its evaluated
as under:
Path goal theory:
This theory is consisting with leadership style, which is more suitable and effective in
attaining organizational goals and objectives. The basic purpose of BBC is to maximizing
employee’s engagement in various activities in order to getting employees satisfaction and
empowerment for enhancing their working ability (Kazemipour and Mohd Amin, 2012). This
theory is vastly related with vroom expectancy theory which describes that the behavior of each
individual is different from each other as they all are willing to gaining their desired goals and
objectives.
(B) Various barriers that could affect team performance.
In this modern scenario each business firm are facing various problems and issues which
has a huge impact on organizational performance. Through some effective obstacle BBC is not

Poor Communication: It is the major responsibility of firm and its authority to establish
an effective communication channel in order to effectively transformation of important
data and information in all departments. This refers as the major issue of firm and needs
to be resolved by firm in effective manner.
Lack of managerial involvement: They are considered as the most effective human resource at
work plays that plays most effective role at work place with implementing effective control over
all activities in order to carry out firms work in most efficient direction (Kellison and Mondello,
2012). It is required for manager to take participation in organisation activities in order to
creating effective decision which are beneficial for gaining high competitive advantage at market
place.
Bad behavior: It is essential for firm to measure the behavior of each individual who are
part of firm or its activities in order to enhancing their ability for performing any task.
Bad behavior may occur due to extra pressure, negative working environment, ego or
attitude. BBC is focused on resolving the issues of employees and fire most disturbing
employees from the work place.

behavior is huge as it includes impact of personality on performance; it studies about the
behavior of an individual their attitudes and leaning towards activities or any task that are
