INTRODUCTIONOrganization behaviour is considered as the study of human behaviour that exists indifferent cultures of business enterprise among the group of individuals. It is also analysed assubset of management functions that involves understanding and influencing behaviour ofemployees within organization towards achievement of organization goal (Katzenbach andSmith, 2015). In present report, the organizational culture of BBC has been analysed by usingvarious cultural tools and typologies. Earlier culture of enterprise has been discussed along withthe changes which are made by authorities to overcome the problems at workplace. Along withthis, the impact of culture, power and politics on the culture and behaviour of employees withinBBC is also explained which provides an understanding about various strategies which areformulated and implemented by director human resource management. Various motivationaltheories and techniques have been recognised in order to assess the effectiveness of teams andimproved level of motivation within enterprise. Moreover, organization theory has also beendiscussed in order to provide an understanding about the improvement in productivity andprofitability of organization.PART 1TASK 1P1 a) Earlier organisational culture at BBCAs per the effective research, organization is considered as group of individuals that worktogether with an aim of accomplishment of organizational goal. Employee coordination andcooperation within organization is essential for smooth functioning of business enterprise(Phillips and Phillips, 2016). They have to deliver their level bests and achieve the set standardswithin stipulated time duration. In this context, the earlier culture within BBC was realized aspower culture in which the authority to take decisions was only remain in the hands of superior.It can be explained with the help of Handy’s typology of organizational culture.Power Culture: In this, Handy has described that this culture as the spider’s web in which all theimportant and big spider reside in bottom of the web. From the organizational context, all themajor authorities and individuals remain in the middle of the organization. In BBC, the earlierorganizational culture was considered as authoritarian which more focus on power. Employeesat operational were not provided any authority as the power was also remains in the hands of3

some senior managers and they were only focused on maximizing profits. Most power full andtop authorities were surrounded by those workers who want some power at workplace. Size isconsidered as the problem for power cultures. Senior employees have found it difficult to linkmajor task and retain control, they have always achieved success in business operations whenthey establish new business units with freedom and they usually retain financial control in theirhands. Vital decisions have been taken by senior authorities as they have all the powers. Theyhave also enjoyed special preferences which created situation of dissatisfaction and conflictamong different individuals in BBC. Apart from this, due to this culture employees sufferedvarious like workplace harassment and torture by senior authorities. This situation has createdmajor problem as many employees had left organization. It also provided major impact onreputation of company and also decreased the level of growth and development within industry.Hence, it can be said that the power culture within enterprise has harmed the business reputationand influenced the employees of organization and them negative feeling to leave the workplacewithout making another solution.P1 b) Influence of culture power and politics within organization BBCFrom respective case study, it has been clearly analysed that there is major impact ofculture power and politics on business operations and culture within organization. It also playshuge role from development of strategies to the communication among the employees atworkplace (Russo, Linhares and Santos, 2013). The organization culture at workplace hasrepresented that only some specific employees at senior posses the power and authority to makeplans and strategies. It was also considered as dictatorship within BBC. Moreover, manyemployees were harassed and abused by these authorities. It had affected badly as theseemployees have left the job and brand reputation of company had started to diminish rapidly.Further, the politics at workplace was normal but those personalities who possess the power havenot taken any initiative to provide motivation to employees which has impacted negatively.Other than this, they were used to motivate the individuals on the basis of coercion for loss of joband punishments.Further, the top level management of BBC has hired new director in HR department namedValerie Hughes D’Aeth which has aimed to remove the negative power culture from BBC andchanging it to people’s management. Through formulation and application of some importantstrategies and making changes in some policies and activities of human resource management, it4
