INTRODUCTION
In this report is has been mentioned that how various motivational theories can be
implemented in the cited entities. So that organisational objectives can be achieved further
situational and behavioural approach and its advantages and disadvantages are also mentioned
therein. In this report various organisational structures has been explained with different kind of
cultures and it also addresses the relationship between organisational structure of Oticon and its
cultures and further it also explains that how does it impact over its performance (Nutbeam,
Harris and Wise, 2010). This report is based on case study of Oticon, Nice Cars and Shijitsu in
which there is a comparison of organisation structure and organisation culture that have impact
on organisation performance. Furthermore, there is an also discussion on motivational theory and
also comparison of different leadership style.

1.1Comparison among organisation structure and organisation culture of two companies
An organization is a group of people who comes together at one place focusing on some
common objective and undertaking the various operations to achieve the desired goals and
objectives which in corporate world is known as vision and mission of the organizations. The
action of organizing something which is common to everyone who is working in the group is
called organization. An organizational Structure is a kind of system which portrays the levels in
the organization. A structure basically defines that there are how much levels in the
organizations and where the power lies. It is basically showcasing the hierarchy of the company
which identifies the job and its functions and where it reports to within an organization. A
organizational structure shows how a company operates and assists its task in order to attain the
goals and objectives for the current and future growth. Organisation structure is typically a
hierarchical line of authority that describe the duties and rights of an employee within the
organisation. There are various type of organisation structure among which the Oticon Company
adopts that are as describe as follows-
There are various types of organisational structures that the management can opt in an
entity. Organisational structure defines the designation of an employee and his position in an
enterprise. Further, it also provides the path in which work is divided and delegated to
subordinates by the superiors. Organisational structure also provides the direction in which
employees of a cited entity can transfer their information.(Brown, 2013)

Organisational Structures
 Matrix Organizational Structure: Under this organizational structure there is reporting
levels both at horizontal and vertical level. In this type of organizational structure a
person can serve in the team of production also being the software department person.
Full flexibility is provided in this structure.
 Functional Organizational Structure: Here in the functional structure proper hierarchy is
followed which is it starts from CEO or vice president and than followed by manager of
human resources and than accounting, marketing manager, purchasing manager and
engineering manager.
 Product Organizational Structure: Here the product is taken as medium to show how
organizational structure is followed and thus the structure followed here is like if a kraft
product would be responsible for every product under that label- Dressings, meats,
sauces, etc. Geographic Organizational Structure: For organizations that cover a span of geographic
regions, it sometimes makes sense to organize by region. here the hierarchy follows as
per the regions that is north region manger will be different and south will be different
and central and east region will be different.
Organisational Culture
 Task Culture: In task culture, management of organisation forms team to manage the
typical tasks of cited entity. These teams include such persons who have same kind of
interests and goals. Each team consists of four to five members. In task culture,
employees in a team needs to do work equally. Oticon has opted the task culture so that it
will become easy for employees to work in the business environment which has more
than 1200 employees as they have separate team which has different task to perform.
Thus, their work has been allotted equally in each task.
 Role Culture : Role culture is a culture where employees has given a role by their leaders
and managers. These roles are delegated as per the educational qualification, skill, and
specialization of employees. In such culture employees finds the best qualities inside
them and they voluntarily accept the challenges.

 Person culture : Person culture is actually an unusual culture. It is generally not found in
every organisational structure. This type of organisational structure can be illustrated as
loose clusters. Focus point of this structure is considered on individual personnels.
 Power culture : it can be illustrated as web of spider. As in spider web, spider sits in
middle and control over the entire web just like that in such culture a single individual
commands over different task in an organisational structure.
1.2Explaination on relationship among Oticon's organisational structure and culture can impact
on their business performance
The main elements that are adopted by each organisation for its success is the effective
organisation structure and organisation culture. It directly impact positive on company as they
can easily control work, make quick decision and able to organise work procedures effectively.
There is a direct relationship among organisation structure and culture as if the firm culture is
effective that make sure structure is able to improves that leads success in their business
(Suppiah and Singh Sandhu, 2011) . The Oticon Company adopt horizontal organisation
structure and task culture that supports each other that leads to create positivity within
workplace. In the horizontal structure it influence the worker to done their job in a team by
contribute maximum efforts and it support task culture which are follow by firm. It also
encourage the employees to done job in a team that enhance company's productivity.
The relationship among Hierarchy structure and task culture that impact on their business
is that is an effective communication among each other members. They can easily express their
views effectively that develop the best solution that able them resolve various issues that arise
within workplace. Furthermore, the worker perform job in a team which helps them to complete
task within time frame that directly leads to enhance company productivity.
1.3 Discuss factors which influence individual behaviour at work
Organisation is a group of individuals who are from different countries that have vary in
their perspectives towards company. Therefore, in the Oticon company there are some factors
that influence the behaviour of individual at workplace. These are described below-
 Leaderships- The leader play a vital role that may influence the behaviour of an
individual and it has a responsibility to give proper direction to its employees. In the case,

it has been identified in the Oticon company is that the staff workers are now dissatisfy
with their work due to strict bosses. For this reason, leader have to become democratic to
encourage the workers to share their viewpoints and provide them knowledge so, their
satisfaction level regard to job improve.
 Skills- Individuals work in an organisation have a difference in their skills, attributes as
well as competencies that directly influence in its behaviour at the workplace. Therefore,
difference in status level among individual vary in their skills that create conflict if one
individual not get any growth opportunity.
 Work Culture- Organisation work culture needs to be positive as to create healthier
environment the company have to encourage their employees. Also, respect the
individuals for their ideas and they also have to follow code of ethics. The most important
factor is a equal opportunities that highly impact on workers behaviour as there
confidence improved that leads to increase firm's sales. Therefore, it is a right of
company to provide them growth opportunities according to their performance in a
company.

2.1 Comparison the effectiveness of different leadership styles in different organisation
Leadership style is used by organisation for the purpose of give the proper guidance to
the staff members so, they can done their job in positive manner. For this reason, the Nice Cars
and Shijitsu are two different organisation but done same type of business and they adopt
different leadership styles that are mention below-
Autocratic leadership style- The Nice Cars adopt a autocratic leadership style in which
they make decisions by their own and they does not like to involve staff member to participate in
a decision-making process. It is very effective for the firm at that time when company require to
make decision in uncertainties and other situation. Along with that, They don't ask for any help
of clue in making any decision with any members within the organisation. The main advantages
for the company is that it saves time, because they can take quick decision as per their own way
solve that particular problem at certain situations with successful results. This type of leadership
is appropriate when leaders need to take decision quickly. But it becomes complex if the
situation demands team input. So Nice car should consider these facts.

Democratic leadership style- The Shijitsu adopt Democratic leadership style in which
they allow the team members to participate in their decision-making. It facilitate all the
individuals to express their views and opinions that helps them to develop a effective solution
that are need to resolve problems in effective manner. It create confidence among members for
which they put their maximum efforts that directly leads to attain goals in desired manner. Along
with that,

inspire all their followers in completing their tasks within a given time frame.

Organisation theory is that disciplined that are need to examine the structure and help in
designing the system which provide suggestions how the business becomes effective. There are
various type of organisation theories that are adopt by Nice Cars that are describe below- Scientific management- The cited company underpin this scientific management theory
as it help the Nice Cars to make analyses and combine work (Teh and Sun, 2012). The
main aim to adopt this theory is that to help the organisation to enhance economy and
improves labour productivity. The Nice Cars apply in its manufacturing process that
reduce wastage that arise at the time production of products or services. Along with that,
with the help of scientific management it help the company to transfer a craft production
into mass production. It also facilitate them to transfer a knowledge of one worker to
another that improves company efficiency. Human relations theory- It is a that type of theory in which they said that the workers
are a part of support team that help organisation to enhance development and growth. The
Nice Cars apply this theory within the workplace for the purpose of motivate the workers
by give them a special attention. It will only receive when they perform work effectively
which increase motivation that help them to enhance productivity that resultant into
improves work quality. Thus, this theory influence the company to give special attention
to workers and give them recognition. It also support motivational theory in which it ties
with the human relations theory in which they provide basic needs. Contingency theory- The Nice Cars applied this theory in the workplace which they
provide organisation that are open that required to satisfy management. It facilitate them
appropriate way to satisfy and adapt environment challenges effectively. It has been
asserted that to manage the things but it is effective in those situation where there is a
change in environment as well as any uncertainties arise. Administrative theory: This theory was given by Henry Fayol according to which he
has propounded 14 principles of management. As per this theory, the Nice car company
have the option of bringing various improvements that can help in bringing the better
practices. Besides this, it will also help in making a team spirit and division of work as
per specialisation. This can be a good approach towards making effective working
environment.

The Nice car organisation is applying the Contingency theory which is suitable for it. It is
more suitable for it as it gives enough opportunities to make adjustments in the dynamic
environment to bring effectiveness in the work.
2.3 Advantage and disadvantages of the different approaches to Management
There are various approaches which can be followed by Nice cars for better
administration of its organisational structure. Several approaches and its advantages and
disadvantages are mentioned below :
 Japanese Approach : An organisational structure is basically a pattern of various stuffs
like input, output, flow of information etc. Success of Nice Cars and its operation totally
depends on the approaches which it follow to administrate their business operations. This
approach considers three elements; input, process and then output. All these elements are
interlinked with each other. Leaders and managers of nice cars needs to take care of all
these three elements. They need to make such strategies so that all these stages can easily
work and that can give the ultimate output. The advantage of this approach is that its
efficient it defines clearly the responsibilities to each employee (Brown, 2013) . But it
has certain disadvantages also. This approach doesn't clarifies the interdependence as
well as nature of interaction. This process has a slow reaction against unwanted
situations.
 Western Approach : This approach defines that employees can be motivated for many
aspect other than just to earn money and to set good human relation among the
organisation. Shigijutsu have been the key in motivating the people of nice cars in
earning the money for the business by facilitating them with such type of structure they
dfeel flexible in any circumstances. Through various techniques leaders and managers of
Shijitsu can change the negative behaviour of its employees so that it can achieve its
desired objectives. The advantages of Western approach is its easy to imply in practical
life and its easy to understand. Shijitsu has applied this approach in its organisational
structure as it is easy to apply and simple understand. Further Shijitsu has taken many
quick decisions in past few year because of this approach. But there are certain
disadvantages of this approach, like its never too easy to change mind of behaviour of
any person. And the most significant drawback of this approach is that it doesn't
considers the feelings clients.

The cited company adopt motivational theories that enhance motivational level of
employees that are discussed below-
 Maslow's need hierarchy theory- The organisat(Suppiah and Singh Sandhu, 2011 )ion
adopt these motivational theory in which they satisfy the lower needs and after higher
level of needs. There are various level of motivational in which Physiological, safety,

love, self-esteem and self-actualisation needs. In which the firm need to satisfy so, they
can motivate towards worker that leads to attain firm's objectives in effective manner.
Therefore, in the first lower level of needs in which there is a need to satisfy the
physiological needs of employees by increment in the salary(Suppiah and Singh Sandhu,
2011 ). Furthermore, after the company need to satisfy the safety needs in which
employee give them job-security and take safety measure so, they can done work in
healthier manner. The another higher-level needs can be satisfy by the firm through
recognition, praise, promotion and career growth opportunities.
Abraham Maslow has propounded this particular theory in order to meet the higher
expectations and needs of all individuals working in the business for the betterment of an
organisation. The needs of all the employee are classified into five needs such as self esteem,
self-actualisation, physiological, safety and love needs will be used as one of the important
parameters in evaluating the current business performance of an entity.
 McGregor theories X and Y- The company adopt McGregor theory in which there is
two assumptions that help in motivating the employees that are based upon this. It can be
categorised into two theory X and Y there are some assumptions in which the company
motivate its employees. In the theory X in which there is an assumptions that who are are
dislike to do work, avoid responsibility and the nature is selfish. Therefore, in the theory
Y in which there is a worker who are highly motivated in which they take responsibility
by take step further and show their interest towards work that leads to attain goals in
effective manner.
This two dimensional theory has different aspects which are considered as two important
pillars used to evaluate the overall performance of an entity such as motivating and hygienic
factors in assessing the overall performance of the business. These X and Y attributes gives right
direction to an entity in motivating their employees.
There is clear cut relationship among both the motivational theories used in improving
the overall performance of an entity such as Maslow need hierarchy theory and Herzberg X and
Y theory. Both are interrelated in terms of motivating factors as both the theories aim for
improving overall performance of an entity within a particular time period. The life style of an

Most effective motivation theory out of the above theory is Maslow's need hierarchy

contrast to this, the McGregor's theory in which there is two assumption that are set up by

Therefore, it is only possible in this theory is that they offer a compensation benefits to
the workers that include bonus, incentive plans, increment in salary and promotion of
worker that increase motivational level among workers( Huczynski and Buchanan,
2010 ). After that they also provide them job security through which they put their more
efforts that enhance their performance. According to this, the lower level of needs of an
employee satisfy and the employee are hunger of of respect as well as status. It is a

 Attain organisation goals- The company adopt McGregor's theory X and theory Y
through which they motivate the dissatisfy worker who are not active in their work.
Therefore, this theory facilitate the company to improve the overall productivity of
company as all dissatisfy and satisfy worker are highly motivate through which they
contribute their maximum efforts that leads to attain company's objectives effectively.

employees in the organisation will help in retaining all the till the longest time period in the
business. Needs and expectations of all individuals should be meet by an employer as recruiting
employees in the firm is an important activity started by an entity owner in order to generate
higher business outcomes in the near future. Personal interaction sessions will be taken by the
mangers in order to bring out inner feelings, thoughts and opinion of a person who are working
for the betterment of the organisation. The suggestions of all employees whether bad or good
will be consider by the top management to facilitate all of them in meeting their needs and
demands.

Each and Every organisation have their own group that help them to run the business
operation in effective manner. The Zico computer have a two type of group are described below-
Formal group
It is that type of group that in which they are formed generally in formal within the
organisation. It is usually formed with the various rules and regulation that are to be followed by
all the individual that leads them to run the business function in systematic manner. The flow of
communication are generally flow from top level to low level of management as there is a long
gap but there is a less chance of barrier. Therefore, the communication are transfer from top level
management in systematic manner in the form of report and document so, there is a less chance
of confusion . The company adopt hierarchical organisation structure in which the are various
procedures that are not easy to modify.

Informal group
The company are formed in in which there is a informal flow of communication that are
allowed to transfer from each department. They can easily express their views and opinion to
each other that develop a unique solution that enhance company's value ( Mohammad,Habib and
Alias, 2011). It sometime create conflict among each other due to informal interaction.
Therefore, the in this company there is a democratic leadership style that are adopted by the
company in which decisions are to be taken by invite the member to participate in this process.
The nature of group and the changes that come in the behaviour of all members of group can be
understood with the help of Tuckman's model. As per this model, there are four stages of
formation of group which are as follows:
 Forming: This is the first stage of group formation because of which every one is new for
each other. According to this, there are lots of confusions and trust level is also less
among the members. As a result, all of them use to ask large number of questions with
leaders. The behaviour outcome of the members is very different where they show
anxiousness about the tasks which will be allotted to them.
 Storming: This stage often shows various types of conflict between the team members.
At this stage, the members start getting their individual tasks. The nature and style of
working of each member is different because of which the conflicts may arise. If these
conflicts are not resolved early and appropriately, it may lead to frustration among
teammates.
 Norming: The team moves to the norming stage in which the group members start taking
initiatives to resolve their conflicts. All of them start knowing each other in better way
through which strong bonding start taking place which shows the characteristic of social
loafing. Thus, at this stage, the team members show more commitment towards the
organisational goals and objectives.
 Performing: This is the stage where entire group start showing their efforts and hard work
to accomplish the objectives and tasks set by the leader. At this stage, all the set processes
start taking better shape and give better support.
 Adjourning: This can be understood as the end stage where the groups formed for
particular objective gets dissolved after fulfilling the aims. The members may feel it as a
difficult stage where they have developed a close relationship with team members.

4.2 Discuss factors that may promote or inhibit the development of effective teamwork
Each and every type of factor that are impact on organisation in positive and negative
manner. The Zico computer promote or inhibit the development in team work which are as
follows-
 Group size- The group are generally formed due to difference in the behaviour of
workers and their perception as well as attitudes. There are two type of group that are
formed is smaller and bigger to solve the biggest problem in effective manner. It has been
asserted that the small group is smaller than the big group in which it can resolve the
complex problem in effective manner. It enhance the company's productivity and lead to
remove the deadlocks.
 Group Norms- The organisation have to follow the informal guidelines that are required
to operate the business function in smoothly. Therefore, there in this group an employee
take an advantage of benefits that are given by company in which the worker who follow
rule and regulation. The company provide them a reward through which they contribute
their major efforts that leads to success organisation.
The effectiveness of a team can be understood in well manner with the help of Rubin,
Plovnick and Fry's GRPI model. As per this model, four things are essential to be included by the
leader:
1. Goals: Here, it is crucial for the leader to make clear all the teammates about the goals
and objectives that have to be achieved. Besides this, there must be clear communication
regarding priorities and expectations from them.
2. Roles: Each team member in the said company must be clear about his roles and
responsibilities within team to perform appropriately.
3. Processes: The leader in mentioned company must be clear about all the works that are
required to be done as well as they have to be clear about decision making on time.
4. Interpersonal relationships: For effective teamwork, it is significant aspect that there is a
good level of communication, reliance and flexibility among the team members.
The major factors that can promote effectiveness in the teamwork at Zicho computers is
diversity, better level of communication, effective leadership etc. The factors that may inhibit the

effectiveness are poor communication level, undefined roles and responsibilities and targets to be
achieved, ineffective leadership etc.
 Thus, it can be summarised that goals, interpersonal communication, better
defined roles and processes are key drivers for effective teamwork.
4.3Evaluate the impact of technology on team functioning within organisation
In the modern era, there is an advancement of technology due to which the Zico computer
adopt the latest technology that are describe below-
 Team communication- The company use latest technology such as computer in which
all the individuals can share or express their view over the internet. There is a less chance
of confusion arise and effective flow communication among each other ( Nicholas,
Rowlands and Jamali,2010). The manager can easily transfer company policy over the
internet to all the levels of management.
 Training to staff- The company adopt the latest technology in which they provide
training to its staff workers. They used on-job-training in which they provide them
training over the computer, online-learning and software programs. They ignore the class
room training due which participants can easily enhance their skills through technology.
The role of technology is considerable as it brings a number of benefits like fulfilling the
demands if customers as per their requirements. It is evident that the cited organisation uses
advanced technology because of which it can give the productivity with high quality and fulfil all
the required services. The traditional forms of the technological roles posed different challenges
according to which the work process was complex and the development was slower.
The use of latest technology enhances the functioning of team according to which the
virtual team starts taking shape. There are various benefits of this team as it brings lower office
cost, help in retaining the employees, increased productivity, lower costs of operations.
The major limitations of this virtual team is increased cost because there is a use of high-
tech equipments. Besides this, there can be the situation of social isolation among the team
members.
CONCLUSION
The above given report is having focus on the organisation behaviours of ZICO
computers and OTICON and NICE cars. They are having adopted different types of
organisational structures as per the needs of them. Hierarchical structures is most suitable for the

big structured organisation so they have to adopt these structures to execute their work in more
fine way. Organisation have to use democratic leadership to make better decisions for their
organisation. Maslows hierarchic can be helpful to manage proper communication in all level of
management to produce better work form their employees.
