INTRODUCTION
Inter-departmental cooperation is being considered as one of the crucial aspect that every
single business organisation looks forward to have. If corporation will be there among staff
members then it can easily be said that the company will directly attain its different goals and
objectives. In present context, The Grosvenor Hotel has been taken, which is looking forward to
expand its business in Sri Lanka where hotel is going to open a hotel cum resort.
Literature Review
What kind of barriers in communication while working with staff in hotel.
According to (Hargie, 2016), communication plays a crucial role within a hotel as it
develops inter departmental cooperation at the time of performing tasks. With the help of
effective communication, high experience can easily be given to targeted customers of Sri Lanka
and other international visitors. In present context, where The Grosvenor Hotel is looking
forward to expand its business in Sri Lanka through opening a resort cum hotel, has found a
range of communication barriers that affected the organisations inter departmental cooperation
and some of these periods are given underneath:
Language – as the business expansion is being done at Sri Lanka, company had to
employ a range of staff members that belongs to Sri Lanka only in order to know the
culture more. Many of them do not know how to speak in English which affected the
communication among existing employees. This also impacted negatively up on overall
productivity and profit ratios of The Grosvenor Hotel.
Different cultural backgrounds – religious holidays, social conventions and more are said
to be some of differences that can be seen among individuals that belongs to different
countries (Jambulingamis, Sumathi, and Rajagopal, 2015). In present context, The
Grosvenor Hotel might also face this kind of issue due to the culture which is being followed
within the Sri Lanka is totally different from the Britishers. This could be considered as one of
the crucial barrier, that is going to impact upon companies communication process.
Physical distance: Business hotel named as The Grosvenor Hotel, was following English
culture which is totally different from Sri Lanka and the staff that belongs to both the Nations are
going to find difficulties with working. This might impact upon overall profit ratios and
