2OVERSIGHT ISSUES IN EMIRATES GROUP
Introduction
Regulatory oversight issue is a major governance issue faced in Emirates Group
(Emirates 2020). Sometimes the board of directors of this organization are unable to
understand the expectation of their shareholders who are from different backgrounds
(Labonte 2016). Loss of business sales and reputation are the outcomes of oversight issues.
The current corporate strategy which is practised in Emirates Group is the horizontal
integration, however, there is a flexibility issue which is being faced in this company due to
the selection of this corporate strategy. The main purpose of this formative proposal is to
identify the current challenges and opportunities of Emirates Group and to identify the exact
tool which can help to address the oversight issues which is being faced in this organization
for a longer period of time.
Importance of corporate governance
The effectiveness of the current business practices can be identified using corporate
governance (Bossu and Rossi 2019). It can be said that the expectation of each shareholder
has to be understood before the selection of corporate strategies which can address oversight
issues.
Loss of business reputation is having a huge impact on both the business sales of this
company, along with the long term objectives of this business which is to increase the market
share of this organization without compromising their high-quality services.
Emirates Group is recently suffering from oversight issues and it is having a direct
impact on the employees working in this organization as well. It is apparent that Dubai Civil
Aviation is losing faith in Emirates group due to their oversight problems.

Literature Review
The appropriateness of the corporate strategy selected by Emirates Group shall be
evaluated using models and theories in this literature review
Dickins et al. (2018), swot analysis can be very much useful to reverse the weakness
of an airlines organization. Bossu and Rossi (2019), stated that the internal environment of
the business has to be analysed using SWOT analysis before that selection of a corporate
strategy. Thus, SWOT Analysis tool can be used by Emirates to understand the challenges of
their internal environment such as their ambitious future growth plan, hidden weakness of the
organization. The premium travel segment is one of the most significant opportunity of this
airline to have a competitive edge over the other similar organizations in the Middle East.
Being one of the largest airlines group in Middle East, Emirates Group focusses
mainly on focus-leadership strategy. Clark and Hussey (2016), stated that focus leadership
strategy focuses mainly on temporary demographics, hence it might lead to governance issue
such as the oversight issue. Sulaiman (2017), stated that focus leadership is very much
associated with oversight issues, and strategic planning is directly associated to each of these
concepts. The researchers stated that weakness or the threats of the internal environment has
to be analysed to address these challenges.
Kravet, Bailey and Pronovost (2018), stated that McKinsey 7-S framework can also
help an organization to select an effective corporate strategy which can address their
oversight issues.
I will be applying McKinsey 7-S framework to identify the exact corporate strategy
required to address the oversight problem in Emirates Group.
