INTRODUCTION
Personal and professional development is systematic means by the help of which an
individual sets goals, strategies and outcomes of learning and training (Hildebr, 2018). It is
mainly used in providing large variety of professional and specialised training that assist
administration and other trainers to train employees in effective manner. Moreover, an effective
professional development provides higher growth for a particular individual's career. In this
report the organisation chosen is Travelodge. It provides various type of benefits to all type of
customers such as permanent and temporary both. It provides the opportunities to get a
membership clause too. It is basically operated by independent companies who have no
connection with brand in other countries. This report is going to analysis various approaches
which are useful in managing and self learning as well as understanding self managed learning
and development skills of an individual (Calderhead, Denicolo and Day, 2012) . Moreover,
respective organisation also measure current abilities and skill of professional development and
organisation standard as well as the process of implement and development of specific plans.
The respective report also covers the solution of work based problems and communicate in
variety of styles and appropriate manner at various levels. Evaluation is provided for the
effective time management strategies.
TASK 1
1.1 Approaches to self-managed learning
Self managed learning is a continuous and gradual process in which an individual take
effort to do something to plan effective learning (success plans/ways of reaching goals) to
improve self development. It is also known as learning by desire to do something/reason for
doing something (Elliott, 2012). There are many approaches talked about/said below through
which an individual can set their clear goals and figure out the worth, amount, or quality of their
purpose of planning and learning to complete their/reach their targets.

Seminars and Conferences: It is one of the best way to manage self learning process. If
an individual attend seminars and conferences then there is a wide chance to share ideas and self
experience. If he/she will attend meeting and share their opinions with others then there will be
more chances enhance self learning. It will benefit an employee or an individual in their
personality development and to improve personal skill. By sharing ideas and self experience,
person comes up with different new ideas. This will increase person's ability and confidence to
speak up in public. This will help Travelodge's manager to arranging various meeting and
seminar for its employees and it will helps him too in managing self learning activities.
Internet: There are wide varieties of social networks that include twitter, Facebook and
different other sites by help of which an individual can get diversified range of knowledge
platform for example, they can take advantage of sites like popular magazines, newspapers,
journals etc. (Olsen, 2015). They can acquire knowledge of various writers concerning subjects
like management studies, science sector, engineering area and business management. This will
benefit individual to develop their skills in private and professional area both. It can be used by
Travelodge manager for connecting the employees to a specific network, share opinions in group
etc. it will enhance the learning skills of employees as well as manager in management area.
Training Programmes: Training programmes are especially designed to train
individuals and employees in relational to specific skills. This will benefit each and every
individual to enhance their skills and capabilities.
Online learning: online learning will help the employees in enhancing their capabilities
and knowledge. Now in those days there are wide variety of online courses and programmes
which can be joined and attended at any time any where. These courses also less time consuming
and customized according to individuals time schedule.
Self help guides and manuals: self help guides and manuals can be provided to
individual which can be use by him at any where any time. These manual and guides can be
sepraded over a fix time period or according to knowledge level of prospective employees.
The above mention are some of the approaches of self learning that will help managers
of Travelodge in providing training to employees in self-managing and growing themselves.
Moreover, they are adopting conferences and seminar for self development of their employees.

1.2 Life long learning process in personal and professional
Travelodge are using various ways in encouraging life long learning process for its
employees so that it is beneficial for both individual and organisation. It is needed for employees
who are interested in learning and acquiring new ideas and skills for enhancing their growth and
development in personal as well as in professional life. Some of the life long learning process
adopted by Travelodge managers are determined below:
Continuous professional development: Continuous professional development refers to
the process of tracking and documenting skills, knowledge and experience that help in life long
learning process, as this help in managing and developing an individual knowledge on an
ongoing process (Zepeda, 2013). Travelodge adopt that for enhancing its employees personal as
well as professional knowledge and experience.
Apprenticeship: It is a type of training which provided on the job to employees. It helps
to enhance skills and knowledge of Individual continuously. So it is useful for both employees as
well as organization. That type of training save time for both such as employees and firm.

nature. As it is very beneficial in learning some specific skills through self learning. Sometimes
it is not accessible for individuals, moreover it will beneficial for individual to enhance ability to
deal in complex problems, expand its working ability. Which is beneficial for both organization
and individual. For example Learning while performing job task and going knowledge from
conferences and seminars.
Limitations of self- managed learning: There are various limitation too with the self
managed learning to individual, because there is always lack of a professional direction. Some
specific methods and styles can't be learnt by individual himself without a professional director.

is that it will help managers of Travelodge in reducing cost of learning process. This process

principles of good time management which I can adopt for effective time management:

Delegation
Delegation of work is a very important time management technique that can really help
to save time. I should teach my employees how to break their job into small steps that are easy to
manage. When working alone, I will do less work but when I delegate my assignment to other
staff, the work will not only be done faster but will also be done better.
Strengths: It will a major strength of the organization when employees do faster and
better work.
Weaknesses: It will became a weakness of the organization because if delegation of
work is not proper then results will not effective.
According to the scenario there are a lot of work load due to which the employee
turnover increasing day by day so that I can adopt the delegation technique for time
management so that the proper task can be delegated among employees and excess workload can
be removed.
CONCLUSION
From the above discussion it has been concluded that personal and professional
development are helping individual and organisation to achieve high growth. Self learning
