INTRODUCTION
Personal and professional development are considered as those activities which improves
our knowledge and identify, enhancing quality of life in contributing towards the realisation of
dreams and aspirations. An individual is setting out their own goals and strategies in order to
achieve something in their life. PPD is an alignment which study the professional programmes
and encounter the requirements from specifies regulatory bodies. PPD plan should be made
effectively where individuals can easily design their goals in simple manner (Calderhead, 2012).
In present assignment Marriott hotel is taken which help to individuals in attaining their goals
and objectives as well as own also. Besides this, in present report different approaches of self-
learning has been explained. Furthermore, personal and professional development plan has been
made after identifying the needs. Along with this, different time management strategies have
been discussed.
TASK 1
1.1 Evaluating different approaches to self-managed learning
Self-managed learning is that approach whereby learning of individuals is encouraged
and knowledge is achieving with their own efforts. As there are different approaches which can
be used by individual and gives opportunity to them opportunity to attain their long-term career.
While using these techniques it improves the existing performance and contribute their efforts in
attaining their goals and objectives. There are various ways which has been discussed in brief for
evaluating self-managed learning:
Internet source – It is said to be an unlimited resource for gathering information from
different sources (Cottrell, 2015). There is different type of internet sources which are using by
individuals for gaining lots of information and know the area which were not aware to them
earlier.
Attending various seminars and conferences – Nowadays difference seminars and
conferences are organising by organisation which provide opportunity to individuals to enhance
their knowledge. Along with this it also gives confidence to people to represent their thoughts
and ideas in front of expertise.

1.2 Ways for boosting lifelong learning skills for individuals
Lifelong learning is that process where individual can adopt different tools and
techniques in order to identify their basic needs. As it is all about continuous learning which
develops the personal capacity of individual for performing task in effective manner. Lifelong
learning skills will help to me to analyse my SWOT through which I can take various action in
case if any deficiency is found. Below mention are some ways for encouraging lifelong skills:
Learning through self-reflection – This is to be considered as inner motivation and drive
for the individuals that if he or she good things around their surroundings, then surely they will
work upon that in effective manner (DeSantis, 2012). As it helps in better learning in all areas
and assist in attain their set goals and objectives.
Self-motivation – This is considered as key factor where individual can be motivated
through self also in some cases. This technique is used by individuals when they are suffering
frustration or depression throughout their life.
1.3 Advantages of self-managed learning to individuals and organisation
Self-managed learning to individual in analysing their self-assessment. It helps to people
to know about those areas where they develop and expand the horizon with their skills and
capabilities. Here are some benefits of self-managed learning in context of individual and
organisation.
Team work – As it encourages the individual in performing task in effective manner
while they are working in a team. In simple words, it encourages and motivates individuals for
acquiring useful information and increase their skills.
Communication - This skill is acquired when individual gets motivated towards the path
of self-learning progress and development exercise (Desimone, 2011). With the help of this skill
they will able to interact and develop his communication so that they can persuade with others.
Also, it will also reduce their hesitation while talking with team members.
In nutshell self-managed learning is considered as significant tool where individual can
identify their current skills and update their new competencies for attaining their goals and
objectives. While working in Marriott hotel it will also give advantage to them in attaining their
target in innovate way and desired set period of time.

3.1 Process and activities which are required in implementing development plan
There are different process activities which can be adopted by individual for properly
implementing their development plan. But it is their responsibilities to monitor them on regular
basis so that they can find out the difficulties which are facing by them (Graves and Epstein,
2011). Below mention are some activities and documents which are needed in implementing
development plan.

qualitative results can be achieved by them.
ď‚· Manager is responsible for conducting training and use the resources in such a manner

3.2 Undertaking and document development activities as planned
In Marriott hotel it is major responsibilities of manager to make proper development plan
where they can improve the efficiency of employees. Else the manager has to conduct proper
training session through which employees will become aware about the rules and policies, code
of conduct (Janssen and et. al., 2013). Below mention are key points which has to be considered
by manager at the time of preparing documents for the development of planned activities.

so that proper decision can be taken by them regarding plans of activities.

Management of time – While performing the activities time should be managed in such a
manner where I can prioritise the work accordingly. As it will help me to complete my task in
desired time period.
Objectives – An objective which are set by me are attain with the help of strategies which
are adopted by me. Along with this, other employees are supporting me to do task in such a
manner to target them in time period.

3.4 Updating development plan based on feedbacks
At the time implementing development plan I have received both positive and negative
feedback from others. While updating the areas which need to be develop through which I can
overcome with my weaknesses, assign the task within time frame. Along with while working on
these objectives I have to make list down the areas for evaluating the feedbacks in proper
manner. Furthermore, I have to work upon on those areas which makes me weak in front of
higher authorities. As whatever plan which will make by me should be comprises with several
objectives and based on skills for achieved them in time period.
