INTRODUCTION
Personal development planning refers forming an action plan according to the awareness,
values, reflection, weakness for the personal development within context of carrier. All these
creates professional identity with the help of attitude, beliefs and experiences. So that an
individual can anticipated themselves. After formulation of PDP, personal skill audit needs to be
carry out (Var and Gunn, 2020). The present report is based on Travelodge hospitality company
of United Kingdom in order to understand the term PDP and PSA with example. It was founded
in year 1985 by Scott King. They operate their business across globally in order to provide
services to each and every individual. This report is going to discussion about benefits of
ongoing professional development towards stakeholders as well as the expectation of employer
for skill, competencies and various learning or development concepts. In addition to this a PDP
will be designed on the basis of skill and knowledge.
MAINBODY
Learning outcome 1. Analyse the importance of ongoing professionals
development and self-directed learning for increasing the professional
identity along with career opportunities.
P1 Analyse the key benefits of ongoing professional development for different stakeholders.
Ongoing professional development is also knowing a regular professional improvement.
It is a documentary process the notes the skill, knowledge and experience that an individual gain
in both formal and informal manner (Chetana and Mohapatra, 2017). Due to the changes in
course, it become vital to considered this for the sustainability and improvement. It is a
continuous process of improvement and aids an individual in attaining their goal within smaller
period of time. In context of chosen firm, they prepare an improvement session to their workers
so that they will be able to enhance skill and knowledge according to the requirement that are
needed to combat with competitive edge.
Benefits to employees: Job satisfaction level: From this improvement plan, the employee will get benefits in
term of job satisfaction as it helps them in improving skills and knowledge for their
continuous development. In relevance to chosen firm this plan provides a lot of benefits

to their employees as it encourages and motivates them for performing better and gives
strengthen to perform with full efficiency. Which leads them in attaining their personal
goal along with organisational objective (Blair, 2019).
Benefits to employer:
Skilled workforce: This will aid employee in retaining the skilled & talented workforce
for the business growth and development. Which saves money and time in hiring and training the
new employees and that ultimately provides benefits to employer. PDP will help employer in
identifying the two performers within company.
P2 Investigate professional employer expectations of skills and competencies
In current period of time, employees of selected firm expect various things from their
managers for a firm with regards to various skills knowledge and competencies (Rhoda, 2019).
Therefore, some of the prominent capabilities and skills of employers are obstinate below:

Communication skill- It is the most crucial and important skill which need to be acquire
by all the employers in term of managing and handling all task within firm. Such as the manager
of company needs to deal with various clients at regular basis includes those people also who are
not familiar with the languages like English. Along with this, mangers need to provide clear and
accurate information or guidance to their employees is the key requirement of selected firm.
Team management: In order to maintain the workforce environment and to manage
employees of company, manager need to have a good leadership quality. A good leader will able
to provide clear guidance to their team members so that they will be able to perform task in
effective way with full efficiency (Choi and O’Brien, 2019).
Competencies:
Work with ethics: A prominent competency that is required in manger of selected firm is
work ethics. It means all task and projects need to be completed with ethically manner by
considering all aspects such as punctuality, accountability with professionalism. The reason
behind all these is the to maintain the workforce environment in positive and healthy manner. In
context of hospitality industry, the consumer prefers those company which have ethical,
passionate and considerate workforce so that they will happy with their choice. Therefore, it is
another expectation that may be expected by employees or consumers of Travelodge.
