INTRODUCTION
The assessment of oneself helps the individuals to identify the capabilities and skills. The
personal and professional development is important for the growth of an individual where they
will have to assess the internal and external factors which affects the behaviour of the people.
This helps them in taking decisions for the career and identify the best option according to the
skills of the individual (Gray, 2015). The skills can be technical and personal which are
important for the performance of the job which are specific and they need to have the skills to
understand it and the most important skills are personal, professional, negotiation,
communication skills, etc. The analysis of the skills is important and the individual should
identify it so that they can have the right career path and they should consult the professional
which is the best option because it is an important decision. The chosen organisation for the
report is Holiday Inn which is an American British owned brand of hotels founded in 1952 in US
by Kimmons Wilson. It has 1173 hotels, 214000 rental rooms, it has more than 2 lakh employees
and are located at the best places. The UK locations of the hotel are prime. The report includes
importance of professional development and learning in identifying skills, assessing the
capabilities and different methods of personal and professional development, professional
development plan, transferable skills.

Professional development refers to the process of developing different skills which are
important for working in the organisation and they should be identified from the learning and
growth in the organisation (Mundy, Howe and Kupczynski, 2015).
Meaning
CPD stands for Continuing professional development and it the process of identifying,
tracking and documenting skills which are not included in training but are the capabilities of the
individual. It includes the record of skill. Improving it and applying it in the work and it is the
reflection of learning and development. It helps individuals to identify where he is right now and
where he wants to reach.
Importance of carrying CPD for the organisation

CPD is the part of a change and continuous improvement process which helps the
organisation in assessing the performance of employees in the organisation. The employees in
Holiday Inn be it the lower level employees or top level managers should focus on continuous
development because they are customer centric and they experience of customers are important
for the success of the organisation so they should assess the it so that they can analyse the
performance. It is not the responsibility of the employees in Holiday Inn but the organisation
should monitor and improve the performance of employees (Roberts and et.al., 2020).
