INTRODUCTION
The professional and personal development (PDP) is necessary to enhance the knowledge
and skills for personal development and advancement of career (Tseng and Kuo, 2014). The
goals , strategies, outcomes of learning and training is set out by individual by means of PDP
plan. In order to meet the challenges and desire goals the organization and individual engage in
the process of learning. The health and social care (H&S care) in UK is related with the services
that are given by health and social care providers. It is the duty of team manager to ensure PDP
while treating young children with disabilities.
This report will evaluate the key approaches to self-managed learning in order to gain
lifelong development. The current skills and competencies against professional standard will be
evaluated in this report. The personal and professional development plan will be implemented in
this report. The report will also suggest work-based problems solution and ensure smooth
functioning along with various strategies for time management.
TASK – 1
1.1 Evaluating the approaches to self-managed learning
The best possible way to learn about self-managed learning is to by observing the current
business, examining the issues and conducting an investigation to find out what is going in the
business environment (Thompson, Amatea and Thompson, 2014). For self-managed learning the
seminars and conferences are the best ways as the experiences and ideas can be shared by people
by attending the conferences and seminars. This will enhance the personal and professionals
development .Due to sharing if ideas and knowledge people come up with new things. The
confidence of people will be improved as they will become more confident to speak in the public
and this is very essential in the organization. The person will be able to present its knowledge in
more efficient way. The social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter can also help to
develop the self-learning as in today's time people use this platform to share their ideas with
other humans so this will help them to learn new skills and will be beneficial for the betterment
of their personality. By surfing the different websites on internet people could gain
knowledge .The personal and professional learning can be encouraged in the health and social
care by doing self-managed learning (Nicholls, 2014).

1.2 Ways by which personal and professional learning can be encouraged.
The self-analysis can be done in order to help to develop good confidence and enhance
the communication and terms with people. The help in the professional learning can be gained by
conducting SWOT analysis personally. By doing this the strengthen, weakness, opportunities and
treats of a self can be known (Kunter and Hachfeld ,2013.). For an instance the strength will
determine the good learning skills, efficient communication etc. Weakness will determine the
short tempered behaviour of the person. The opportunities will determine the better environment
and better job etc and threat may be recession in health, money etc.
The growth in professional and personal learning can be gained from continuous learning
as they include experiences and events .The new skills, new understanding and new knowledge
as there is a constant evolution with continuous learning. The effective leadership goals help in
lifelong learning (Nicholls, 2014).. In this one can learn how learners can influence other people
in a group to do focused things. The goals of the organization can be achieved with the help of
effective leadership.
As in modern companies most of the companies are multi-cultures so it is a complex join
to communicate with distinct people in the similar organization. In order to observe different
pole and communicate with them, also is a type of self-learning. In order to perform a task such
as planning, organization, leading and controlling people the effective communication plays a
important role for managers in the organization. In order to get things done in organization
communication is essential. A good time need to be devoted in communication to make it a
lifelong learning in their life (Huffman and Moller, 2014.).
1.3 Evaluating the benefits of self-managed learning
The benefits of self-managed learning are many and the positive impact on the individual
learning and organization will be developed with the help of self-managed learning. Through the
individual past personal and professional experiences it will help individuals to acquire a
decision-making skills. In a professional manner the individual learner can learn from their
personal experiences that will be the advantage for the organization. The individual will learn to
work in team as the by attending seminars and group discussion. The reason behind the success
of may organization is good team work. The skills of team work will be beneficial for both
company and individuals (Gess-Newsome, 2015). By attending seminars and group individuals a
individual will enhance their communication and confidence will be built to present the

presentation which will give the chance to talk in front of other and express the knowledge which
would be beneficial for the growth of business. In order to fulfil the objective of organization the
self-managed learning help to establish communication and writing skills which is very useful
for individual?
4.1 Work -based problem and selecting solution to that problem
As team manager in an H & S care there is a conflict among the team members in order
to take care of the young people with liabilities. The ideas of individuals are different from each
other. This conflict among individuals is creating a negative environment for the patient and
other individuals who are visiting the hospital. This problem among individuals needs to be
solved in order to ensue that positive working conditions at the health and social care. In order to
examine problems, recognize the severity of problems the effective problem solving skills can
enable employees. The workforce training will help the employees to work-in coordination with
other workers, to understand the perception and ideas of co-workers that is working with them in
a team. This training session will enhance the efficiency of workforce (Busse, Aboneh and
Tefera, 2014.) .To resolve issues in constructive manner the trained participants will learn to use
available resources. The brainstorming sessions can be conducted in the organization in order to
propose solutions to the problem that is face by employees. The main goals of brainstorming
session will be to work I a group to discover problems and then discover action plan to solve it.
4.2 Implementation of learning style to solve the problem
In order to solve the problem of workplace the Kolb's learning style can be used in the
workplace. In 1984 the Kolb established the learning style model. On the two levels the Kolb's
experimental learning theory works. The two levels are -: A four stage cycle of learning and the
four different styles of learning. In range of situations the acquisition of abstract concepts can be
applied flexibly (Boud and Brew, 2013). By new experiences the impetus for the development of
new concepts is provided. By four stages learning cycle the Kolb's experimental learning style
theory is represented typically in which all bases are touched by the learner. In the concrete
experience a new experience of situation is encountered .In the next stage that is reflective
observation, by viewing the environment from different prospective the observation need to be
make before a judgement. In the next stage abstract conceptualization, the logical analysis of
instead is needed. The last stage, active experimentation the things are done by influencing
people .The four-type definition of learning style are as follows-:

Diverging (reflective and concrete) - The imaginative and innovative approach are used in order
to do things. The concert situations is viewed from many prospective.
Assimilating (abstract, reflective) – The number of observations is pulled by and thoughts are
integrated as a whole
Converging (abstract, active) – The practical application of ideas and problem solving is used.
The technical problem is refereed over interpersonal issues.
Accommodating (Concrete, active) – The trial and error is used. For the changing circumstances
it is good at adaptation (Gess-Newsome, 2015). .

4.3 Effective time-management strategies
The time-management strategies are essential while working in the organization as it will
help to complete the work at specific time period. The best possible use of time needs to make in
order to complete the task that has been assigned in the workplace. The organization works on
deadlines. Within the stipulated time frame the individual constantly needs to finish off
assignments. The employees need to understand the importance of value of time in the
organization. In health and social care the time need to be managed of various strategies have
been made in order to ensure that work is done on time by employees. The list can be made of
each work that is assigned .The on the basis of list the priorities can be given to the task such as
low, medium, top priority. Based on these priorities the time can be set. The top priority work
need to be done first, then medium and then the low priority work. Based on time-schedules for
the task the top, medium and low priority work can be done (Time Management Strategies,
2017).
The strategy of scheduling time works for me as a team manger of health and social care
in providing treatment to young people with disabilities as it will help to examine the time that is
available in order to give treatment to these people. The essential task can be blocked. The high
priority can be given to urgent-tasks and to handle unpredictable events and emergencies some
extra time need to be schedule. The priorities can be delivered in order to achieve the goals. So,
time-scheduling can help to complete the work at desirable time.

As a team manager in health and social care ,the management is needed to bring people together
in order to achieve there required goals and objective of organization. The planing, controlling,
organizing, staffing and controlling are included in the management.
To meet the goals and objectives of organization the different skills that are needed can be as
follows-:
Technical – The person need to have a information regarding the specific field. As the team
manager of the health and social care I need to have the information regarding treatment that
needs to be given to people, their needs , staff management etc.
Conceptual – In order to resolve the issues of organization it needs expertness to use the contents
.For betterment of the organization the various opportunities need to be acknowledged.
Communication - The skilled such as effective listening and questioning, displaying skills and
spoken arrangement is needed to modify ideas into words so that they can understand easily
Confidence- The confident leader can make more secure decisions for the team

The self-reflection, personal leadership is required for developing the personal and
professional needs.
Self-reflection – The opportunity is provided to think with the own personal and
professional priorities and the achievements and learning need to be examined with the help if
this. The regular record about personal reflections with re[sect to work place can help to develop
professional practices (Gess-Newsome, 2015). .
Personal leadership – A number of learning benefits can be provided by it. The coaching,
mentoring ,development of team is included in it. By pursuing self-mastery and, maximizing
their impact personal leadership help individuals to work with highest potential. The reading of
books, newspaper can enhance the knowledge (Thompson, Amatea and Thompson, 2014.).
2.3 The development opportunities to meet current and future defined needs
To identify the needs of development is very complex. One of the major development
opportunity will be goal setting (Austin and Sorcinelli, 2013 ). Once the goals is set the skills can
be built by using the concept of SMART concept. To enhance the skills of presentation I will

take opportunity to participate in various meetings in which reports are presented .On daily or
weekly basis the member of staff represent presentation which will en chance my knowledge on
area that need to be focus and will also make my presentation effective. I will identify the
opportunities to make my communication skills more efficient .In future,I need to take my
personal development to the another levels of understanding in the future. Over the next years
every skills is important. This may involve development of employee,strategic planning and
managing change etc.
2.4 Personal and professional development plan
In personal and professional life planning is very important. For the professional development
plan the various stages can be as follows-
SWOT analysis - The personal analysis need to be monitored repeatedly by making use of
SWOT analysis - The strength, weakness,opportunities and threat can be identified.
The self-learning process can help to solve and neglect the weaknesses and threats.:
Time-frame analysis – In the professional development the time frame analysis is also helpful.
The personal and professional life can be developed by attending various seminars and learning
programs.
The creation of personal development plan
The personal effectiveness such as decision-making ,time-management, networking
influencing etc can be improved by making short-term, mid-term and long-term goals.
The business skills such as planning and organization of resources can be achieved by
developing skill's and knowledge .
The leadership ad management skills such as change focus, strategic influence etc can be
achieved by making short-term next steps, long-term and mid-term next steps.
The self-analysis can be one to find out the strength and weakness and this will also help
to work on the weakness in order to overcome it.

Some sort of personal and professional development scheme is use by the most
organizations (Gess-Newsome, 2015).
Scope and content of the plan
The context and scope of development plan is to be used by staff. This will encourage
individual by using competencies according to their development needs.
Purpose of the plan
The specific purpose should be there in the personal development plan in order to
performer better in the existing job. Related to the individual need this approach will motivate
them to consider their personal and professional effectiveness.
Implementation
In terms of implementation and support the personal and professional plan may face two
issues. A lot of efforts in communication and training support as the plan is applied to all
individuals. The another issues is self-managed learning, as some of the employees require help
in thinking throughout their own judgement for development. The considerable amount of
support is need in both causes.
Impact
The cultural change was observed due to personal and professional environment. About the
personal development approach the employees and the managers were mainly keen and its link
with business development (Bayar, 2014).
3.2 Undertake and document development activities
The initial thought will be gathered in the document while creating it. All the information
and the requirements will be there in the document regarding the plan. The meeting notes and
actions will also be continued in the document. The result of all meetings, the coming thoughts,
notes and concepts need to be document. The drafted document need to reviewed with other
members of team (Austin and Sorcinelli, 2013 ).. By finding loop holes will help to enhance the
current process. It is very important to represent the documents to other members as all the
things that are not been put in the documents can be reminded by them. A good impact on
professional and personal development plan can be created due to introduction of some new
ideas by the team members.

The personal and professional development plan improved my thoughts, ideas and
knowledge. I came across the aims and objectives of personal and professional development
plan. I came across goals that need to be set for personal development plan. I also learn that
managing time is very important in any organization. The various strategies need to be made
such time scheduling, assigning prioritization etc so as tom mage the time in organization. I
learned how the self-analysis can improve the performance at workplace. The group discussion
can help to enhance the communication at workplace. The time spend interviewing will help to
understand more about professional and personal skills. A clear image can be made of how one
want to achieve .I came across that leaders can help the organization to achieve the goals of the
organization by keeping the team focused on the particular task.
