Abstract
Target- University going students have been targeted in this
intervention and they lies in age of 18-29 years.
Dube and et.al., 2013 carried out a study on assessing the prevalence
and awareness of e-cigarettes. The study has concluded that there has
been an increase in Awareness and ever-use of e-cigarettes but there
is a need to carry out Continued surveillance for undertaking a public
health planning.
Regan and et.al., 2013. carried out a study on Electronic nicotine
delivery systems. The study concluded that there is a need to
undertake continued monitoring of these products.
Study by durkin made an attempt to analyze the impact of mass media
campaigns on promoting quitting among adult smokers. The study
concluded that Mass media campaigns are very essential to promote
the habit of smoking in students.
Hammond made a study on impact of health warning messages on
tobacco packages. The author considers Health warnings on packages
to be one of the most direct as well as prominent means of
communicating with smokers.
Rationale: Target group and Smoking health risks
Aims and Objectives
Aim: To promote anti smoking habits in university students. The
reason of promoting anti smoking habit in the context of university
students because it has decreased the serious smoking related
diseases such as cancer, heart diseases, fertility issues, tooth lose,
peripheral vascular diseases etc.
Objectives:
To encourage 98% students to attend the anti smoking campaign
This will encouraged the university students to adopt the good habits
and decreased the changes of several types of diseases he smoke.
To reduce tobacco use by youth age 18-29 years in university. The
following objective will help in create the awareness in the university
students who are between the age of 18-29 regarding decrease the
risks of dying from the smoke diseases.
To increase anti tobacco programs and policies in university. This
objective will help in develop the awareness in the university students
to decrease the interest in the smoking. It will also assist in quit the
smoking and develop the good healthy habits.
To increase the awareness of harmful effects of smoking. Smoking
has created the several types of health impact on university students.
The harmful effects are mood stimulation, poor vision, coughing, heart
diseases, wrinkly skin, bad teeth etc. Therefore, the following objective
will help increase the awareness in the university students about the
harmful impacts of smoking.
The approach used for health promotion within the context of
university students is behaviour. The following framework has related
with the groups or individual person whose behaviour has placed him at
a higher risk of developing unhealthy lifestyle. With the help of this, it
has easy to enhance the health of group or individual of university
students. The health promotion approaches for the students will be By
displaying the anti smoking posters on notice board of university, Mass
media campaigns on anti smoking by using slogan 'Every Cigarette Is
Doing Damage', Displaying messages like “ Smoking Kills, Smoking Is
Dangerous For Health” on notice boards, By conducting small role play
or drama about smoking effects on health, Anti- Smoking videos and
messages at university and social media sites and distribution of
pamphlets or leaflets with weekly newspaper & monthly magazines of
university.

Outline of Intervention
To attract and aware the students, will organize anti-smoking
campaign program of 2 weeks in which these below methods will
be implemented.
Invite the health care practitioners and other care specialized to
give motivation to students in anti smoking campaign. During this
event, the different types of impacts of doing smoke in the age of 18 to
29 years, the interest of university students can be reduced. ( this
can’t not be possible )
Will give them awareness about smoking effects on health through
the presentations. The university should organize the different health
events where the teachers should provide the enough knowledge about
the smoking effects on the health.
Will do In-person counselling and also talk to the students. The
university should provide the counselling to those students who are
facing the smoking habits. This will assist then to get the proper
guidance to leave the smoking habits very soon.
Will conduct quitting programs and give them guidance. Under this
program, the various kinds of methods and ways should be explained
by the university and health care practitioners which help in quitting

Health Promotion approach
While carrying out the health promotion intervention which relates with
increase number of smokers in youngsters, campaigners will consider
following ethics:
In campaign, will not hurt emotionally to any student.
Campaigners will not target to a particular person.
Will not disclose the student's name.
In 2 weeks, will give full support and motivation to the smokers for
quitting smoking.
If there is a disclosure of the name of student who is smoking then
firstly campaigners will inform and also take the permission of him.
The given poster is on suggesting interventions for anti smoking within
the university students. The interventions is likely to bring a reduction in
smoking habits of university students.
