INTRODUCTION
Health and social is the most complex sector that depends on providing effectively and
quality of services to the users or patients. There are several legal procedures, policies and
regulations are developed by government authorities that needs to be followed by professional in
care home while providing services to users (Munn-Giddings and Winter, 2013). Present report
will also provide an understanding about various important principles that support care of Mr.
Denis in care home. Further, information related with the legal procedure will also be provided
in this report. This will provide support to the professional and practitioners to work effectively
and provides equal treatment to the service users. Principles determined in this report will assist
the care practitioners in analysing their roles and responsibilities at workplace along with their
effect on the operations. Further, effects of marginalization, isolation are also elaborated in this
context of selected case study.
Task 1
1.1 Applicability of principles of support to care of patient.
Mr Denis was suffering from the condition in which it has the requirement of heath care
support at high level. As per present scenario, it is analysed that people working in health care
and social worker to help the Mr. Denis and provide financial help for the treatment. Denis is
person who is 92 years old and he is collapsed at his home with hypothermia thus after seven
weeks he is now arrived in health care home.
Patient in the condition Hypothermia requires a lot of care and support of people as these type of
activities will be beneficial for him to recover from such dilemma (Aveyard, 2014). Some
important are analysed and discussed in order to provide care to the user coming for treatment at
nursing home.
 Respect individuality: Equal respect and treatment needs to be provided to every
individual. Patients in care home needs to be provided privacy along with space that is
required and their request needs to be fulfilled appropriately by practitioners.
 Rights: It is also essential that the rights of the users needs to be considered by the health
care professionals. Further, these duties have been provided in accordance with the
GSCC code of practices applied to the social workers (Glasby and Dickinson, 2014).
Users posses the right to know and right to be equally treated by care home.

Organisation should promote independence to the patients at the time when protecting
them from critical conditions. They are accountable for the providing quality of services.
 Privacy: It is also essential principle that implies to the legal provision that it essential
for care professional to keep privacy of users information. It is important as when the
users desire to live alone then they must be kept alone.
 Support and attention: It is also considered as necessary for the care practitioner to
provide care and support to the users of their family members, friends, carers groups and
communities that will help to recover from the dies-ease and metal stress.
 Denis is eligible to take support of the benefits provided by the government as he is an
over age and not able to earn the money therefore it is important the care home to provide
them financial support.
 Privacy is also analysed as prior and basis requirements and in this cse of denis medical
team needs to provide him a proper privacy and the confidentiality regarding to this
diesease.
 It is essential for organisation to enhance the choice and control over the treatments.

 Respect for the privacy and self esteem.
In present case, it required for the practitioners that these principles needs to be followed as it
will help Mr. Denis to recover from the situation because he will get an ability to observe his
importance in society and help to cope up with dilemma.
1.3 Benefits of using a person centred approach for Denis
Person centred approach is considered as important strategy that concentrates on a feeling
of mutual understanding and providing respect to the service users by heath care professionals.
In this , organisation in health care sector focuses on the requirements and desire of care users so
that they will get emotionally attached with the workplace (Cameron and et.al., 2014). Further, it
is required that workplace of health and social care should sue the person centred approach as it
will assist service users to build of trust with the workplace and cooperation with the
professionals. Moreover, some benefits are also linked with this approach for the Denis like:
 Giving respect to Mr. Denis will support in development of self respect along with the
team in care home who are responsible for providing him treatment. It will help in

relaxing Mr. Denis through which he will coordinate with the members of staff at
workplace.
 Partnership and collaboration will also assist Mr. Denis to have trust on the care
professionals. If they will build trust then professional will be able to provide them
treatment appropriately and help in getting out of hypothermia.
Professional using the person-centred approach will be beneficial for the Denis to easily recover
from its disease through morale support and assistance in care home.
Essential facilitities: As analysed in the case study, that denis is unable to walk so by using this
appraoc of Wheel chair will be provided by care home management to take him any other place.
Communication: As he is an old age and isolated person so it is prior to interact with him to
motivate him to be laive and do not attempst the suicidal attempts in the future.
3.1 Impact of social processes on health and social care services.
Social processes have major influence on the users in this sector. There are important
social care processes that needs to be analysed by the professional and social workers like:
 Isolation: It is one of the critical aspect, associated with the social processes. It implies to
the conditions that users who are facing communicable problems needs to kept in specific
wards at care homes. Person who are subject of mental diseases needs to be kept one
single wards (Mitchell and et.al., 2012). It is also necessary that health care professionals
should remain touch with the such patients so that they could have been relaxed with and
have comfortable feeling.
 Exclusion: Poverty is also provides major impact on health and social services as users
will not be able to get services properly. Similarly, in this case, Mr. Denis is also facing
issues of poverty due to which he was not able to get treatment from the care home. Poor
health and lack of education are also two main important elements that provides on the
people and they will refuse to take health and social care services.
 Social exclusion: In which an individual totally restricted and blocked by their rights,
powers, opportunities that are normally available for persons. Due to this, some persons
become depressed and easy to angry.

 Marginalization: It is considered as potential form of discrimination as in the conditions
it is treated as the different from others or it can be said that the Mr. Denis will not be
treated normally. Further, it is essential that every individual coming in care home must
be give equal and fair treatment because in equality will lead to raise consequences and
harm to the goodwill of care home.
 Impact of demand : Continuous increase in demand of health and social care service has
also provided a major impact on service as the care professional are free to provide
effective service and not able to concern every patient.
Thus, it is essential for the care professionals to treat the service users equally they are
also human beings who have rights to get proper treatment and benefits that a normal patient will
get.
Task 2
1.2 Procedure of protecting the clients, patients and colleagues from the harm.
As per the case study, by being a senior employee in the staff, Mr. Arthur has the
responsibility to safeguard the users from any problem. It has been analysed that it is not the first
time when Mr. Arthur has forgotten to provide the medicines at many at a time to his patients
that is very irresponsible behaviour. This type of behaviour will provide major impact on the
users and also leads to major issues (Drummond and et.al., 2015). There are some important
procedures that will support in safeguarding the clients, patients and colleagues from the any
type health issues. Further, it is needed to be consider by every health care practitioners working
in the care home.
 Preparation of check list: It is important for Mr. Arthur to maintain a checklist on their
own that needs to be followed. Further, they also need to take a round of every patient in
night to ensure that all requirements and treatments regarding the heath of patient will be
provided.
 Communication : It is also necessary for Mr. Arthur to communicate with user in order
to provide get information regarding their condition and improvement in health (Marmot
and et.al., 2012).
 Assessment of risk: First part of procedure it is analyse the risk. In this case, the patients
hwo has taken drug for treating the epilepsy can do harmm to other patients as well as
staff members.

 Transfer of information: It is also necessary for him to provide all information to the
other staff or colleagues while leaving the shift. Mr. Arthur also have the responsibilities
to provide information and determine the risk which they have identified while
communicating with the patients to the care professional so that it can be resolved in
correct time.
Once the risk is analysed and its impact needs to be evaluated then second step of procedure is
to communicate with the relevant authorities about the affects of risks on the health of patients
and the other people.
Task 3
1.4 Understanding of ethical dilemmas /conflict raised in providing care.
In this case study, there is a situation in which the there is major conflict between the
moral imperatives will be created is considered as ethical dilemma. This type situation will arise
when the obeying an person would result in offending other. In case of Mrs. Helen blood
transfusion and there is requirement a emergency surgery which is suggested by health care
practitioner (DiClemente and et.al., 2013). It is necessary for the professional to do the surgery to
save her life but she is refusing for this surgery because has been already a witness of Jehovah
and this fear is preventing her from this treatment. This situation related to the ethical dilemma
because if the professional will start treatment of Mr. Helen then they will harm the values and
feelings that would be against the Jehovah and if they will not do so then her life will be come in
danger. As per laws, in this type of situation it is essential for care professional to take a wise
decision needs as related with the ethics that any harm will happen with the patient along with
his values, belief and culture.
For the professionals, giving an effective treatment to the users is the most important
aspects that is being attached with his profession. Keeping the care patients safe and secure from
anything that could harm is a most necessary thing for a professional. In this case, care
practitioner will need to take their permission from the representative or the family members of
Mrs Helen for the blood transfusion surgery. Further, if family member will provide permission
then will do the surgery and save the life of patients. Consequences of surgery needs to be
communicated by professional to family members.

3.3 Effectiveness of interpersonal working and in other health and social care
Interpersonal working is considered as the way of accomplishing the job in which the
individuals from the different professions work together. It is also required for the professional to
perform their job with people from different profession and experience so that they will manage
their work effectively (Brach and et.al., 2012). Further, dealing with the patients suffering from
the mental instability, the professional of care home will require the support of other
professionals because those patients will require a special king of treatments and heath care.
Working in a team within a care home help in ensuring that individuals suffering from the mental
instability will be treated effectively and health care professional will provide equal support to
recover from diseases in more effective manner. There is major importance of working in
partnership between the professionals in care so that social care education will be effectively
shared , health, income maintenance and service related with the criminal justice will be
analysed.
Task 4
2.1 Implementation of policies, legislation, regulations and codes of practices in relation to work
in health and social care.
From the study, it is analysed that the rules and regulations needs to be abide by
organisation and their professional in health and social care. Implementation of the these
policies, legislation, regulations and code will provide a direction to them at workplace. Further,
people that are working in effective way and will take care that all the critical patients should be
treated appropriately (Grol and et.al., 2013). Moreover, discussion will provide them knowledge
about how implementation of policies, legislation, regulations and codes of practices will be
done:
As per the analysis of data protection act, 1998. Organisation in health and social care needs to
ensure the information related to the patients needs to be kept confidential by the professional.
Further, it will not be shared with any person other than their family members. Further,
information will only be hold by the authorized person.
Current policies like rights to action and quality protection also have an impact on operations of
care home as they have to consider all the aspect while providing treatments. They needs to take
permission of candidates or their family members before doing any major treatments like
operation surgery etc.

Another important aspect is providing respect to care patients and employees at workplace.
Health care organisation should their employees equally and will provide them all the service
and welfare facilities so that they will get irritated from patients (Cowles, 2012). They also need
to ensure that there must be an effective flow of information between the care practitioners and
they also provide correct information to the patients along with treatment otherwise false
information will lead to creation of problems for the care patients that results in affecting the
image of care home.
2.2 Development of local policies and procedures related to national and policy requirements.
Most of the policies and the practices are always being developed to maintain decorum of
the care home. These are considered as combination of some important decisions, actions as well
as commitment that will be made by authorities. In this, local policies are developed by the
internal authorized persons of care home to make sure that employees will be managed and all
the ethical perspectives will be considered as by people in workplace. For these legally
authorized persons, it is essential that policies will be formulated by analysing the national policy
because it creates authenticity of the policies and procedures that are basically followed and
provide a major influence on the workforce.
2.3 Impact of policies and procedures on organisational policy and practices.
Preparation of local legislations by concerning national policies will provide support and
also reduces the risk of uncertainties and also decreases the risk of involvement of any
government authority (Chretien and Kind, 2013). Further, there are certain policies and
procedures of government which will provide support in effective functioning of health and
social care. Like contributing in the economy of the nation will support in care home. Further,
interest of the people need to be completed by the care homes and services providers that indulge
in various welfare and activities of social care. These organisations in health care should regulate
to provide safety as well as security to the individuals attaches with the workplace.
3.1 Theories that accentuate in health and social care.
Certain practices are their which can accentuate the practices of health and social care.
Further, better understand and experience can be created by communicating various theories that
will be supportive for health and social care workplace (Folland, Goodman and Stano, 2016).
Health cares professional will also have to analyse the Maslow's hierarchy theory that will
provide an understanding about the basic needs of an individual at workplace. Through this,

users will get a better understanding with requirements of people coming for the treatment.
Providing treatments as per needs and wants will help them to recover from the issues which
they are facing. These needs and understanding of people will help in provided treatments.
In some cases, Users in the care home have issues with the safety and security, in that
professional needs to fulfil their safety requirements. Some patients coming for treatments in
care home will require support, care and these type of people falls under love and belongingness
stage, Care practitioners working in health care organisation needs to analyse the age of users
and provide treatments as per the age group (Allen and et.al., 2014). They should always try to
resolve these queries as failure to remove these crises that will affect the psychology of the users.

the mental state of the patients which are coming for the treatment and will provide them
