Non-verbal Communication
Interpersonal and Intrapersonal Communication
Communication Apprehension
This presentation will concentrate mainly on answering two
questions:
What is the meaning of topic?
Importance of topic for management/engineering graduates.

Non- Verbal Communication
Exchanging of information using gestures, body language, hand motions, eye
contact.
It works on encoding and decoding process.
Encoding implies when one person passes gestures, hand movements, eye
contact, etc. to another person (Ciuffiani, 2017).
Decoding implies when another person decodes the received gestures, hand
movement, etc.
Example of non-verbal communication are: convincing information through
posters, gestures, images, etc (Duhr, 2019).

As per Ray Birdwhistell, non-verbal communication is not quantifiable
act of communication process.
As evidence, every organizations prefer written communication then
non-verbal communication.
In organizations, 60% communication happens through non-verbal
source. For example: exchanging information through E-mail, flow
charts, graphs, etc (Sherman, 2018).
Quantas Airways spends over $5million for providing training to their
behaviour detection officers (Campbell & Atas, 2016).
