Introduction
 Discussion will be done on three specific communication topics.
 Non-verbal Communication
 Interpersonal and Intrapersonal Communication
 Communication Apprehension
 This presentation will concentrate mainly on answering two
questions:
 What is the meaning of topic?
 Importance of topic for management/engineering graduates.

Non- Verbal Communication
 Exchanging of information using gestures, body language, hand motions, eye
contact.
 It works on encoding and decoding process.
 Encoding implies when one person passes gestures, hand movements, eye
contact, etc. to another person (Ciuffiani, 2017).
 Decoding implies when another person decodes the received gestures, hand
movement, etc.
 Example of non-verbal communication are: convincing information through
posters, gestures, images, etc (Duhr, 2019).

 As per Ray Birdwhistell, non-verbal communication is not quantifiable
act of communication process.
 As evidence, every organizations prefer written communication then
non-verbal communication.
 In organizations, 60% communication happens through non-verbal
source. For example: exchanging information through E-mail, flow
charts, graphs, etc (Sherman, 2018).
 Quantas Airways spends over $5million for providing training to their
behaviour detection officers (Campbell & Atas, 2016).
