1.1.1 Scope Description
This project aims to organize the Wimbledon tennis tournament in the UK, with the aim of
enhancing the prestige and global brand of the tournament. To accomplish this goal, the
project team will plan to organize the tournament in the period from Monday 3 July – Sunday
16 July with an expected budget of $ 68,500,000.
The project scope consists of the survey, design, planning, implementing, operating, and
monitoring all activities related to Wimbledon 2017 hold in London Borough of Merton.
Moreover, the entire documentation concerning the activities is arranged. The manuals
related to training and other processes have also been provided. The tournament is expected
to be of appreciable quality which will probably exceed the standards defined by AELTC.
The entire requirement modules of AELTC will be met through the tournament.
1.1.2 Critical Success Factors
The Critical Success Factors (CSFs) are imperative for the completion of the project. The
CSFs help in understanding the factors that are important to achieve the deliverables.
Mentioned below are some of the factors that are under consideration for this project:
- Effective management of risks
- Requirements that are understandable to all the stakeholders
- Presence of better communication among stakeholders
- Delivering tasks within the defined deadline
- Sharing all the improvements or developments with the stakeholders

1.2 Control Scope
The project will be controlled in accordance with the project scope that has been developed to
manage the requested for changes for some activities in the project (PMBOK, 2013).
Moreover, the activities defined with the project work breakdown structure will be monitored
and controlled in accordance with the industry standard, defined duration and the identified
budget. Mentioned below are the control activities that should be considered:
- The evaluation of scope change impact will be undertaken concerning the project
timeframe, budget, and resources.
- The validation needs to be taken from the project team if there are some project changes
or impacts. Moreover, the presentation of the same should be provided to the director for
assessment.
- The documentation of changes in scope should be present in the new project plan.
- The project sponsors must approve the improvement in the project scope concerning
human resources and funds.
1.3 Project Schedule
MS Project 2007 has been used as the tool for the creation of the project timeline. The
deliverables from Project WBS will be clearly detailed through it. There will be various
activities listed in the project which will be completed under the defined duration and budget
to reach the respective deliverable. The activity sequencing has been considered to define the
activities that need to be completed at any particular duration. The Activity Duration
Estimation will be undertaken to understand the required timeline for the activities.
Moreover, resource estimation will also be undertaken for the effective allocation of the
resources. The development of the preliminary schedule development will be followed the
review of the same by the project team. The resources assigned to the project and the project
team should be on the same page concerning the project timeline, activities, and the schedule.
The approval of the project team and other associated resources will be followed by the
approval from the project sponsor. The schedule will be baselined after the approval.
