7 HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE PEOPLE The first habit of effective people is “being proactive”. It means individuals must havehabit to take responsibility for their reactions. They must have courage to take initiatives so givea appropriate response to situations. The second habit is “begin with end in mind” which meansthat individuals must have clear aim in their life so that they can modify their actions andthinking process accordingly. The third habit is “put first thing first” which states that highlyeffective people always prioritise the tasks and events according to the extent of theirimportance. This habit helps them to accomplish necessary tasks on time and to preventunnecessary time wastage on less prioritised events. These habits are associated with independence of individuals while habits 4-6 emphasisupon interdependency skills of people. Habits 1-3 are not influenced by others and thus effectivepeople have their own control over them (Diver, 2018). Habit four is known as “Think win-win”and describes individuals who provide a fair share to other individuals so that a bettercollaboration and positive relation can be developed. This habit helps effective people to enhancetheir capabilities and interaction skills. Habit 5 is “seek first to understand then to beunderstood”. This habit demonstrates that individual uses empathetic listening to understandspeaker so that problem can be solved only after complete description and analysis of problem. Habit five plays great role in improving problem solving abilities of effective people. Thesixth habit is called synergize which makes people understand that positive team work can makeit possible to achieve hardest and impossible tasks. The good team work skills enable effectivepeople to make them adjust and favourable in event complicated situations. The last habit ofeffective persons reflect that they are highly dedicated to continuous improvement. The seventhhabit is known as “sharpen the saw, growth”. Individuals with this habit renew balance newmethods, resources and approaches for maintaining and sustaining effective lifestyle (Books,2017). Thus people with this habit emphasis on physical, mental as well as spiritual renewal. Thegreed to strive for long term sustainable life style helps effective people to retain theirexcellency. The above discussed habits of effective individuals make them liable to individualdevelopment, continuous improvement as well as for interpersonal development. In my opinion as university students habit two “Begin with an end in mind” holdsoptimum importance. Most of the students blame circumstances and lives a aimless life. Theyconsider university life as only means of attending lectures and getting degree. However1
