INTRODUCTION
Human resource management is the method through which organization can easily
manage the personnel in the company (Banfield, Kay and Royles, 2018). Manager of
organization motivates and give training to all staff members so that they can give good results.
They also give suitable compensation to workers and they can perform all activities in an
effective manner. Assignment describes about the Netflix company which is a entertainment firm
and offers television programmes to all people. It was established in U.K. In 1997. Report
explains about purpose and scope of personnel management so that they can achieve objectives.
It also describes about the effectiveness of personnel management in firm. Assignment explains
about the internal and well as external factors that affect HRM decision making. Report also tells
about the application of human resource management practices in work related context.

P.1 Purpose and functions of Human resource management in Netflix
Every firm sets various goals for their employees. It is done so that staff members can
move in right direction and can perform their all tasks in right time and in effective manner. Thus
as a result workers can give superior results. Thus objectives of HRM in Netflix are:
Human resource planning: HR manager of company decides to create various plans and
strategies so that they can easily accomplish their goals. Firm do not create policies related to
present but creates plans related to future also. Organization can use job description so that they
can select right candidate.
Recruitment and selection: HR manager tries to recruit and select talented and
competent staff members so that all activities and tasks can run in effective and efficient manner.
Thus as a result they can easily accomplish their goals.
Training and development: Manager has to appoint skilled managers so that they can
easily provide training to all staff members. Through this they can easily enhance knowledge and
skills among all workers. Thus they can give superior results and they can easily achieve their
goals.
Career planning: Organization can promote workers on basis of their performance. It is
important so that they can easily create various plans related to career (Beer, Boselie and
Brewster, 2015). This leas to success and growth of all people in the company.

Motivation: Manager of company can motivate staff members by giving them extra
incentives and rewards. This create competition among all staff members (Bratton and Gold,
2017). Thus all workers can perform effectively and efficiently. Thus they can perform better
and can give good results.
Functions of HRM in Netflix:
Recruiting talented workers: Main function is to recruit and select talented staff
members so that they can easily accomplish the objectives in minimum time. Thus they can give
superior outcomes and hence all activities can be done in proper manner.
Improve management skills: Managers can easily provide training and adequate
compensation to staff members. They create various plans so that staff members can improve
their communication level. Thus it helps in improving the management skills of workers.
Reduce conflicts: In this step manager tries to reduce the conflicts and issues in the
company so that all staff members can work in a peaceful environment. This helps in enhancing
the motivation level of all staff members and thus they can perform in an effective manner.
Safe and fair working environment: In this step company can maintain safe and for
environment for all employees. It is done so that there are no issues and they can perform tasks
effectively. This helps in improving the performance of staff members.

Recruitment methods are used so that they can recruit best candidate. Various methods
are used by manager so that talented and skilled workforce can be recruited in the company.
Strengths and weakness of recruitment approaches used in Netflix are:
Internal recruitment: If company selects employees within the firm then it is known as
internal recruitment. There are various methods such as job analysis, interviews etc.
Job analysis : It means the activities and tasks which are performed in the job. Thus
person can evaluate this and can apply to the job if professional is suitable to the skills of
individual.
Strengths:
Increase zeal of staff members: As company selects existing workers then it directly
increases the zeal and enthusiasm of all staff members (Brewster and Hegewisch, 2017). Thus as
a result they can give good results.
