Case Study 1
In case study 1 analytical tool for the solving a business problem is discussed.
Analytical Tool for Problem Solving
A business problem is regarded as the issue or challenge that an organization faces in the
achievement of the objectives of the organization (Van Aken & Berends, 2018). The business
problems can hinder the growth and survival of the organization (Boud & Feletti, 2013).
Similarly, His & Hers is a fashion retailing company that faces business issues in making the
brand of the company as a valuable brand. However, the company has an effective management,
marketing, operations and procurements team that work really hard to convert the ideas into
reality. The company is facing a problem in converting the target of increasing sales of the
company. For this business problem, six-step problem solving model can be selected and the
each step will lead the company to a positive outcome (Fletcher, 2016). The steps are
discussed as below:
Defining the problem: The first step is involved in the identification of the problem that
needs to be solved within a particular time period. Similarly, His & Hers is facing issues
in retaining the customers and providing them with the quality and trendy fashion
clothing at the affordable prices.
Determine the root cause: This step is relating to the determination of the root cause of
the problem which defines the reason for the creation of problem (Rausch, et al.,
2016). As per the case study of His & Her, the problem is the creation of strategy for the
reaching the target of maximum sales.
Developing alternative solution: On this stage, various alternatives are derived for the
solution of the problem. Similarly, His & Her has to make an evaluation of the various
alternatives through which they can serve the needs of their customers.
Selecting a solution: After making an analysis of various solutions, an alternative that
best serves the requirements of problem is selected (Titus & Koppitsch, 2018).
However, His & Her selects the best strategy for the enhancement of the sales and
increase in the overall revenue.

Implementing solution: After the selection of the solution, the results are implemented
in the actual situation for a better outcome. Similarly, His & Her has implemented the
proper strategies for the purpose of gaining the attention of potential customers. The
company has worked together with the marketing and operational team for better
outcomes in future.
Evaluation: It is concerned with the evaluation of the solution and taking steps for the
continuous monitoring of the solution being implemented (Pinggera, et al., 2015).
Similarly, His & Her has a management team that will monitor the strategies being
implemented and takes the corrective actions in the light of the deviations being found.
Areas of Improvements
His & Her has to make various improvements for achieving the strategic vision of the company. These
improvements are discussed as below:
Firstly, the marketing team of the company has to be effective in terms of making innovations
and attracting a large base of customers.
Secondly, store operations can be improved by the increasing the effectiveness of the process
being used in the production of products.
Supply chain management can be enhanced for the regular supply of the clothing and creating an
enhanced experience for the customers.
The improvements in the brand can be made to be as a recognized brand and be a significant part
of wardrobe of the target customers.
Needed to improve the efficiency of the staff members by ensuring that the staff has strategic
skills for welcoming every customer coming into the store for purchase.
