INTRODUCTIONPersonal and Professional development can be determined as a process in whichorganisation conducts effective activities for employees to learn new approaches and concepts toperform their work. It is necessary for the staff members to improve various skills andcapabilities which aid them to achieve corporate and personal objectives (Dowson, 2015). Travellodge is a hotel which provides hospitality services to various kinds of consumers in UnitedKingdom. The present report describes about self managed leaning approaches for theindividuals. Further, it introduces advantages of self managed learning for the company and staffmembers. It evaluates the own critical skills and competencies against corporate standards andobjectives in the hotel. It determines development opportunities to meet out my current andfuture defined needs in Travel lodge. In addition to this, it represents the process and activitieswhich are required to execute the development plan in the organization. It updates personal andprofessional development plan on the basis of feedback and evaluation. It states solution of workbased problems in Paramount organization. Furthermore, it analyses the use of effective timemanagement strategies in the hotel.TASK 11.1. Evaluate approaches to self-managed learning. There are many approaches of self managed learning which can aid me and my staff toincrease knowledge and information in their respective areas. Some of them are described belowin the points.Seminars and conferences: In this process, I will attend seminar and conference toimprove my learning level for hotel. This process can assist me in gaining better knowledge fromexperts which can aid me to manage operations of Travel Lodge. In addition to this, it can alsohelp my staff members to raise knowledge level at the workplace (Cottrell, 2013). Furthermore, Iand my employees can ask various queries which can aid to sort out our problems in anappropriate manner. This way, I as well as my staff can increase myself managed learning inTravel lodge.Internet: Internet is also an appropriate medium for self managed learning in theorganization. For this, I and my staff can read online articles on our receptive areas which aid toimprove our knowledge level in the organization (Cottrell, 2010). This process can help my

members to make proper business strategies for travel Lodge hotel by evaluating latest trend,need as well as requirements of the consumers. Journals and Books: Mainly, Journal and books are effective method which can assist me andmy employees to increase knowledge in the organisation. In addition to this, it can provide latestinformation from certified authors which can support the Travel lodge to manage its hospitalityoperations by providing effective facilitates to consumers in the present sector. For this, Books, journal as well as internet are useful for me and staff members whichwill aid to improve knowledge level in our respective areas within Hotel (Robbins andHunsanker, 2011).1.2 Representing ways in which lifelong learning development can be encouragedAs an assistant manager, I can also encourage my Staff members by using many wayslike Honey and Mumford model continuous professional development and apprenticeships whichcan aid to increase lifelong learning at the workplace of Travel and lodge. Honey and Mumford modelActivist: In this method, employees learn through brain storming, problem solving,puzzles, role play and group discussion in the hotel. In addition to this, activist method can alsohelp the staff members to raise self managed learning by using diagrams and chart as well astables (Bates, Phalen and Moran, 2016).Theorist: In this process, staff members of Travel lodge learn through statistics,background information and by applying theories which aids them to increase their knowledgelevelPragmatist: This method helps the employees to execute the learning into practice in theorganization. For this, human resource of Travel lodge can utilize problem solving, properthinking, discussion and case studies to increase lifelong learning at the workplace (Mobbs,2016).Reflector: With help of this approach, staff members increases their knowledge bymonitoring and thinking about what happened. This approach aids the employees to evaluatetheir mistakes and issues in the organisation.
