Chapter 1: Introduction
1.1) Background of the project
Workforce is the most vital and crucial asset of any organisation as it is the one on which
the overall performance of activity and function of an organisation depends. Thus keeping
employees motivated and satisfied is essential to maintain an effective coordination and
providing better services and product to customers. The hospitality sector is also about providing
most comfortable and positive environment together with offering best possible services and
guest care thus, attitude and behaviour of employees become more vital and important to
maintain the integrity and higher success level (Chang and Teng, 2017). To have a long lasting
and more positive impact on customers, it become vital for hotels to keep its employees
motivated in order to properly direct their efforts and competencies in achieving higher success
level. Hilton Hotel is also among those hotels who keeps their customers at first priority and
ensures to provide a wide range of facilities and services ot customers. Hilton Hotel is well
known global brand that is having its headquarter in Virginia, U.S. and is famous for its luxury
and world class facilities and resorts. Thus, being a multinational organisation and to maintain its
position at gloabl level it become more vital for this organisation to provide all necessary skills
and keep its employees motivated to have an enhanced and better performance. Thus following
investigation is conducted on Hilton Hotel to examine and study the impact of employee
performance and motivation on success of hospitality industry.
1.2) Aim and Objectives
Aim of the project
The main aim behind conducting this research project is, “To analyse the impact of
employee performance and motivation on success of hospitality industry.”
Research objectives
The main objectives and purpose behind conducting current research work on Hilton
Hotel are as follows:
To evaluate the impact of motivational factor and employee performance on
organisational success.

To assess the significance of employee motivation within hospitality industry
(Mohiuddin, 2017).
To analyse different strategies used by hospitality service providers for motivating their
employees and to improve their performance.
1.3) Rationale for project
The selection of current research topic is rationale as Hospitality industry is facing a higher
level of competition due to globalisation and increasing number of hotels thus, to maintain the
better performance and success level it become more crucial for hotels to keep their workforce
motivated. Lack of satisfaction and motivation can cause issue of higher turnover thus, to retain
its employees and meet dynamic demands of customers it become essential for all hotels to focus
more on motivation and satisfaction of its employees. Thus, selection of current research topic is
suitable and justifiable from view point of hospitality sector and employees working in this
industry as provide better information about the significance of employee motivation within
hospitality industry. Further, the selected topic is also vital from academic purpose and for
personal development of researcher as it ensures betterment in knowledge and interpersonal
skills.
1.4) Research questions
The main questions and issues addressed through following research are stated as
follows:
What impact is lead by motivational factor and employee performance on organisational
success?
How significant role is lead by employee motivation within hospitality industry?
What are the different strategies used by hospitality service providers for motivating their
employees and to improve their performance?
Chapter 2: Literature Review
A Literature review is conceptual process of summary and description about the research
topic on the basis of review of scholarly paper and articles, books and online websites which are
relevant resources through particular research(Mohiuddin., 2017). It helps to determine the
research requirement and determining the nature of current research approaches topics as the

analyzation of impact of employee performance and motivation on the success of hospitality
industry as the company has been taken(Chang, and Teng, 2017).
To evaluate the impact of motivational factor and employee performance on organization suc-
cess.
According to the Anar Nasibov, 2015. As motivation is word which emphasis the to need of
encouragement which defines the needs and wants of the drives within the persons. By which it
helps to process of inspiring people of action which helps to achieve the goals as well as
organization goals. In organization the motivation factor plays an important role where it leads to
motivate to employees for working aspects as it only organized by the managers and Human
resource department as they work on Job satisfaction, Achievement, team work and need of
money with procurement of respect(Gross., 2017).
By having the effectiveness of employee performances brings the success in the organization
in terms of productivity, profits and upbringing of the new talents within the organization
premises through the motivation influencing where it helps to accomplish the goals of personal
professional life(Bhat and Bharel, 2018). As employee satisfaction is important where it
comprises about the needs and wants are fulfilled in the time of orientation and during the work
alignment, where it brings the positivity as well as helps to retain the high skilled employees in
organization. Productivity is depends upon the factor form where the employees contributing the
skills and provide the favorable outcomes where it only depends when employees is highly
motivated and gets the procurement of skills and knowledge through training facilities from
organization.
To assess the significance of employees motivation to within hospitality industry.
According to the Michelle Nystrom, 2020. The importance of employee motivation is
very essential in organization where it defines the logical factor to work productivity and growth
of individual are determined on it. It refers to work is the desire platform to perform. In
connection with employees it stats that they having employees wiling work to best of their ability
to analysis the company growth in the market(Downes, and et. al., 2017). As the employee
motivation helps in hospitality industry as the company has opted Hilton Hotels in United
Kingdom for this discussion where the employees or staffs of each department in hotel are
frequently participate in the training and development and the implementation of Employee

Engagement in the organization where it allows to making the stress from work and contributes
with some creativity and knowledge that helps to classified the talent and uniqueness of work
innovation. Employee motivation helps to meet the personal goals which are desirable and a
individual having the expectation regarding the work achievement goals and personal life which
considered to having the presence of guidance as well as if someone needs to instructed properly
for to attaining the goal.
Through motivation employees get benefits in terms of enhancement of sense of satisfaction
increases when n individual employees faces challenges through work stress and depression and
not get any kind of way to overcame from that but the impact of motivation creates the aura in
which it helps to enhance the confidence and satisfaction level increase by which he/ she can
work with peaceful sense of mind. As it also implement the power of efficiency to each
individual employees where it makes directly impact to achieve something when it distracted
from some one’s priorities and it helps to directing and building the work efficiency in terms of
productivity increases which helps the growth of organization, as it above discussion is all relate
to implement of employee motivation in hospitality industry as how it works and enhance the
employee productivity(Finkelstein,., Costanza. and Goodwin., 2018).
To analysis the different strategies of used by hospitality service providers for motivating
employees as well as to improve their performances.
According to the Nick Stanley, 2018. To implementing the positive factor in the
organization it has to follow some sort of process or strategies which helps to implement changes
in the organization which bring the productivity and comprising of positivity in the organization.
As in the context of hospitality business factor in Hilton Hotels, the strategies of motivating of
employees or workforce in their premises in the aspect where to improve their performances as
will it get productivity and success in the organization where it scrutinizing the employee
efficiency and effective skills and knowledge through which they work on their performances
level. The strategies which has been implemented in Hilton Hotels are follows:.
Trust Building : This one of the most important factor which providing trust
enhancement between peers and managers where it develop the coordination, interest, which
help to motivates them succeed in eh organisatin work related task as the leaders are only have
to trust with their team member proficiency where it helps to building positive
relationships(Koohang., Paliszkiewicz, and Goluchowski, ., 2017).
