Chapter Three: Methodology
3.1 Research Approach
Research approach has some set of actions that assist in evaluating and measuring gather
data. It is classified into deductive and inductive approach. In the present research report,
researcher has dependent on deductive approach because it helps in evaluation of numerical data
whereas inductive is not selected because it does not support numerical information and takes a
lot of time.
3.2 Research Strategy
Research strategy is defined as tool used by investigators for collection of relevant
information for conducting research. There are different types of research strategies case study,
survey, experimental research, grounded theory etc. Survey has selected by researcher because it
helps in collecting appropriate information in short period of time. The method is economical
and time saving (Sahay, 2016).
3.3 Research Methodology
The two types of methodologies of research methodology are primary and secondary.
Primary methodology is used for the collection of first hand data through the method of
questionnaire, interview etc (Asher, D. and Popper, M., 2019). Secondary methodology is used
for the collection of existing information by secondary sources like journals, articles,
publications, newspapers, business sites etc. Basically this type of information is already taken
by other people in prior time for their work. Hence, primary as well as secondary both are chosen
by researcher for attaining objectives of research successfully.
3.4 Research Tools
The two types of research tools are quantitative and qualitative research tool. Qualitative
research tool refers to the gathering of subjective information and all data other than presented in
numerical data. The qualitative research tool is used for creating new theory related to the topic.
Quantitative research tool refers to the way of collecting data that is presented in numerical
format (Joseph and Gupta, 2021). This kind of data is more accurate, relevant and appropriate
because it is dependent on collected statistical data. So, in the current research quantitative
research tool has been used by researcher. This type of information is taken out by the instrument
known as questionnaire.

3.5 Sampling
Sampling is the process of selecting participants or respondents from the given large
population. Basically this process assists in selecting representatives of large group of people. It
is not possible and viable for researchers to select whole population for the collection of
information. So, sampling provides method through some participants act as representatives of
given large population (Retolaza and San-Jose, 2017). Probability and non-probability are
classified as types of sampling. Probability sampling is selected by researcher because it allows
selecting participants randomly and it also helps in taking large number of respondents. Non-
probability sampling is not selected because it selects samples with specific criteria.
3.5.1 Identifying Population and Research Site
The researcher has selected probability sampling for conducting research in successful
manner. 20 managers of Boots UK Limited are selected as participants and they act as
representatives of whole group of managers working in the organization.
3.5.2 Sampling Strategy
Researcher has selected simple random sampling in the current research because it is one
of the best probability methods that assist in saving resources like money, time and other
significant resources (Preser, 2016). In this technique every participant is chosen randomly
without any specific criteria and all the selected participants are treated equally when they are
asked questions related to the topic.
