Executive Summary
Present research report has been conducted on the managerial issues as well as a
challenge that organisation within hospitality industrial sector face in order to conduct research
analysis. Main focus is upon Marriott Hotel is being done. In this report formative discussion has
been done on management theory along with their relevance to hospitality industry activities. To
acquire information and data primary research has been done in which questionnaire is being
developed. This will help in determining the challenges and issues faced by organisation in
hospitality industry. In addition to the report also includes recommendation that allow

Introduction
Hospitality consultants are the individuals who work with the members of hospitality
industry in order to significantly improve, start or renovate business. It is essential for
organisations in hospitality industry determine number of challenges that are prevailing in the
environment. This will significantly assist them to perform their hospitality roles and
responsibilities in effective manner (Park and Min, 2020). In order to mitigate negative impact of
these challenges companies in hospitality industry can undertake advantage of consultant who
offers professional advice in context to a particular issue or problem. With the help of this
organisation within this sector can manage their business and can further mitigate or overcome
the risk in effective manner. It is essential for organisation in hospitality industry sector to
effectively determined issues and other factors that are affecting organisation objectives. In this
is it is essential for manager to ask for expert help. This will not only in resolving challenges in
time effective manner but will also assist entity to ensure more competitive less than other
companies in the same sector.
In this report formative discussion has been conducted on identification as well as discussion
of the managerial issues and challenges that entity in hospitality industry is facing. This report
has been conducted on Marriott Hotel which is leading organisation in this sector. This hotel
provides a wide range of products facilities and services to customers. Proper analysis of the
issue has been done with the help of management theories through which Marriott Hotel can gain
significant positive results. Furthermore, the report also includes SWOT analysis that allows
them to determine their strength weakness threat and opportunity in marketplace. Along with the
recommended measures is also been provided to Hotel through which organisation can assure
long-term growth and competitiveness.

Background of Organisation
Marriott hotel performing the business operations in hospitality industrial sector and is a
multinational company that operate its roles responsibilities since 1927. This organisation was
founded by J. Willard Marriott and Alice Marriott and offers their services worldwide. Main
product of this organisation includes hotels and resort. This company offer a wide range of
services facilities and products to customers with high quality. The service is being provided
with more than 121,000 employees. According to the background of this hotel it has been
identified that Marriott International was founded in 1993 when Marriott Corporation get split in
two different companies that are Marriott International Inc, with franchises and managed
properties and host Marriott Corporation which is now Hosts hotel and resorts. It has been
identified that in the year 1995 Marriott was the first hotel company in the hospitality industry
that provided online reservations (How and Lee, 2020). Product services of this hotel are of high
quality that satisfies customer’s needs in a well effective manner. In the end of 2019 Marriott

International worldwide system usually consists of 7,300 and more than properties with
approximately 1.38 million rooms in 138 territories and countries (Landau, 2020). This
organisation perform their roles and responsibility with highly talented employees and staff
members for which company offer number of benefits to their workers in order to effectively
enhance their performance with an aim to satisfy customers at great extent.
It has been determined that there are number of factors that are prevailing in hospitality
industrial sector (Duff, Hancock and Marriott, 2020). Furthermore it has been underlined that
hospitality industry is one of the quickest as well as to fastest growing industry in all around the
world. There are a number of dynamic factors that keeps on changing such as, behaviour of
customer’s technology and more which are creating major issues as well as challenge in front of
organisation in hospitality industrial sector. All these challenges and issues are required to be
effectively evaluated in order to stay strong in market segments. This will significantly help
hotels like Marriott Hotel to overcome the challenges and issue in time effective manner and
implement strategies to ensure more competitiveness in market.
Research rationale
This aim of the research report is that it analysing existing management theories and
identification of various managerial issues and challenges that are being faced by Marriot (Wang,
2020). It also focuses on providing feasible strategic plan for improvement. The rationale of
choosing behind this topic is that it will help the investigator in analysing the management theory
and results in being providing various alternative solution to solve these problems. By studying a
deep understanding of this topic this will help the investigator in enhancing their skills and
development. In this research, investigator is using both primary and secondary research.
Primary research is conducted through questionnaire survey in which 50 employees are being
taken as sample from Marriott hotel. There are open ended and close ended questions in the
questionnaire. Then there is a use of secondary data which is conducted through literature review
through books and journals. This research is conducted for solving managerial problem and
making a strategic plan which could help the hotel in identifying the solution to the managerial
problems. This will help them in increasing the productivity of employees and reducing the
conflicts in the management.

2.0 Introduction
Literature review is basically related to the main focus of the wider academic community
in the chosen field. This will help the researcher to collect some secondary research for
identifying the gap and make sure about working condition and make particular topic (Fabozzi,
and Fabozzi, 2020). The chosen topic is basically related to analyses, clarity of thoughts, and
make development process for understanding the nature of gap to work and identifying and met
the objective which are set.
2.1 Management theories
In the hotel Marriott there are major changes and theory which are implemented through
the major sources and applicability of the company to work and manage different source and
applicability of the management team to work and manage by different management theory in
the guidelines. Two major theories are explain as per the given hospitality industry:
Classical management theory: As per the view point of Farooq, (2020); classical
management theory are helpful in physical and economical need of the company. One of the
main strong view point of the company is to make sure about working in a clear structure and
manage all the activities for management, function and operational activities. Further the division
of the labour and employee in the chosen hotel are majorly base on the efficient workforce and
accomplish the work culture to enhance the productivity (What is Classical Management
Theory? Discuss in detail, 2020). After working on the different management theory and work as
per the basic growth of company there are some flow which make issue for the company. This
theory overlooks the graph and importance of human relation which are related to creativity.
This theory is related to major changes and make a view of the worker to make job satisfaction
and increase the morale of the employee in hospitality organisation.
Contemporary management theory: According to view point of Cordero, (2020); this is
the behavioural theory which are related to the growth and make claim for no best way to
organised and corporation matter (Hoption, and Han, 2021). This is the lead for the company to
manage a lead and work their optimal decision upon internal and external situation. Further it is
related to major sources which affect the growth and measurement of company to work and
assign and make argument for working with technologies which are related to span of control,
