INTRODUCTIONResources are the essential elements for an organisation for carrying out various processand activities. Whereas talent planning refers to the identification and attracting the potentialcandidates for getting an competitive advantage and to meet the changing needs and trends ofmarket. Resourcing and talent planning is very essential for the success of any organisation andalso to understand the future skills which are needed by the organisation. The taken company inthis assignment report is Argos which is a UK based catalogue retailer and is a subsidiary ofSainsbury. This report will analyse the current labour market trend which can influence talent themanagement and workforce planning along with the different types of legal requirements whichneeds to be followed by an organisation while workforce planning. This report will alsodetermine the current and anticipated skills requirements through examples and also thedocuments and processes which contribute to effective recruitment and selection process. In theend, stages and integration of the HR life-cycle in organisational HR strategy will be discussed.TASK 1P1 Analyse current labour market trends that influence talent management and workforceplanningWorkforce planning: Workforce planning is used by organisations on a regular basis formeeting their organisational goals easily. It is a continuous process for determining therequirements of workers with respect to organisation in order to maintain the balance amongthem. It is necessary for ensuring the balance between the requirements and the organisationalgoals (Ahmadi, Ahmadi and Abbaspalangi, 2012). HR managers of Argos needs to hire the rightpeople for the right job designation in order to eliminate the risks related with the execution ofstrategies of firm.Current labour trend: Organisations needs huge number of workers who can work forthe company to achieve the desired business goals and objectives. HR managers of Argos alsoneeds to analyse the recent labour market trend for choosing the appropriate employees whichare beneficial for the company. This trend analysis helps the Argos in determining the potentialemployees which needs to be hired according to the needs of corporation. Some of these marketlabour trend are discussed below: 1

Flexible working hour: Flexible working hours refers to the working time of employeesin which they can work according to their needs and requirements. In flexible hours, timing ofemployees is not fixed and they can work on the time which is suitable for them (Armstrong andTaylor, 2014). HR managers of Argos can provide flexible working hours to their employeesthrough which employees can work with their full capability while maintaining balance betweentheir personal and professional life. Through flexible time, employees can do their personal workwithout any effect on their professional performance.Work from home: Work from home is a latest trend in the labour market which gives thefreedom to the workers of doing their work at home instead of going to office. Mostly work fromis given to employees when are unable to come to office such as in cases of fever, transportationissues or availability in remote locations. Management of Argos can provide this facility to theirworkers mainly to the accounts and finance department as employees from these departments hasthe relevant data collected from the company. These workers can do their work from home andalso can coordinate with other employees through phones and other communication channels.Part time Job:The major aim of the Argos is to retain their employees for long time andalso to recruit the required and potential employees for the vacant positions. It is essential for HRmanagers of Argos to recruit the part time job employees and to utilise them effectively formaintaining the required efficiency in the business processes and activities. There are variouspeople who are unable to work full time due to their personal problems and issues. So, HRmanagers needs to recruit them for part time job and use their skills and knowledge forenhancing the performance, profit and productivity of the organisation (Armstrong, 2011).Education and Training:This trend is very beneficial for employees and organisationsfor improving their skills and knowledge. Organisations are adopting this strategy for providingtraining to the employees which in result will increase their efficiency of doing their workeffectively. HR manager of Argos are also using this strategy. They recruits the potentialemployees and afterwards provide them necessary training and knowledge with respect to theirjob role and responsibilities. Argos is also providing guidance and motivation to their employeesfor achieving their goals as well as organisational objectives in an efficient manner. Throughthis, organisation can maintain healthy relationship with their employees which in results willsupport the overall development of company and of their employees (Betz, 2011).2
