ROLES OF PMO IN AN ORGANIZATION2

ROLES OF PMO IN AN ORGANIZATION3
1. Background
1.1. Introduction
Current research for evaluation of the role of project management offices has
expanded potential in order to act as knowledge brokers between various projects as well as
top management. The study does not give adequate evidence of brokering role of project the
management office (Müller et al. 2013). The research has aims to analyse the functions of
PMO from knowledge sharing perspective as well as expand if there are any functions that
reflects the requirements of knowledge sharing of the project management. The issues are
evaluated with the help of cross analysis of an organization. The major contribution is insight
into the role of PMO in sharing knowledge as well as knowledge sharing in PBOs. There are
also some I practical steps in order to assist project management offices for better adaption of
the functions to the requirements of project management as well as knowledge sharing style
can be proposed (Kutsch et al. 2015). The present study deals with introductory part of the
research consisting of role of PMO in project management as the topic of research. Literature
review about the topic is discussed in the present study. Moreover, research methodology and
findings and analysis is also discussed in the study.
1.2. Problem of statements
Projects are considered as temporary organizations with intentional death. It has been
purposefully designed in order to provide advantages for permanent enterprise or specific
stakeholders with the help of complicated solving procedures. The projects are generally
considered as effective procedure of combining knowledge as well as optimization of values
from the investments (Takey & de Carvalho 2015). On the other hand, the projects are
considered as temporary enterprise, it is existed within the boundary of the project that is
based organizations. There are no standards from as well as previous researchers discussed

regarding project management. On the other hand, PBOs are defined as the organizations in
which main products can be generated through the projects for getting internal or external
consumers (Takey & de Carvalho, 2015). It may be the standalone organizations and
subsidiary of larger organization. However, there are both types of characteristics in the
organizations and capable of handling several projects. Thus, it is important to research the
role of PMO with top management and different departments within the organization.
1.3. Research questions
What are knowledge sharing criteria of PMO with the top management as well
as other departments within an organization?
How is it helpful in achieving an organizational goal?
1.4. Purpose of the study
The study has purposes to analyse role of PMO in order to achieve organizational
goal. The expected advantages of developing project based organizations as well as the PBO
needs to work jointly. In addition, new ideas, challenges as well as learning obtained from the
process. PBO needs to ensure effective knowledge sharing process in order to ensure the
projects avoid risks of reinventing wheel as well as repeating the mistakes.
On the other hand, project management office is usually considered as the formal
layer of control between the top management as well as project management office within
PBO. It is an institutional of the governance strategies (Lee-Kelley & Turner, 2017). The
shapes as well as roles of PMO has functions that can vary as per contexts that are
incorporated. The PBO has no explicit for the functions that are often incorporated with the
organization. The study starts with discussion on knowledge sharing procedures in project
based organizations. It consists of knowledge sharing of PMOs as well integration of
behaviour as well as the role of PMO as knowledge broker. It continues with description of

the methods utilized in the study. An analysis has been presented followed by discussion on
results along with implementations.
1.5 Significance of the study
A critical finding of the previous researches is to have depicted the method by which
the PMO propels starting with one stage then onto the next. The passing thought of PMOs
was then cleared up by this methodology exhibit in view of logical researches and affirmed
through reactions to a survey (Nicholas & Steyn, 2017). Here, the short idea of the PMO
suggests the traverse of a specific state of the component as it occurs to be truth be told and
not as predefined. While this definition relevant applies to tasks and undertakings, it doesn't
speak to the significantly brief sections of the affiliation's life. The objective of this article is
to make the research a walk encourages by more especially exploring the impact of the
advance.
The change conveys the typical results. Toward the day's end, it will improve
execution. Developing the advance strategy appear, this exploration hopes to research the
association between the conditions that provoke a PMO change particularly the issues and the
consequences of these movements, by the day's end, the consequent execution (Alexandrova,
Stankova & Gelemenov, 2015). This article relies upon the doubt that movements are
endeavoured to upgrade execution by one means or another.
1.6. Limitations of the study
For the present research, the researcher requires to go up against the limitations for
adequate time. The researcher needs to complete the entire research in a half year. The
researcher can fulfil more suitable research if more two months for completion of this
research mull over could be considered. Moreover, some of information identified with PMO
are not accessible that reason impediment in the discoveries.
