INTRODUCTION
Hospitality industry is one of the fast growing business in the world that contributes more
in developing economy and country. This sector consists number of businesses including
Restaurants, Hotels, Motels, Resorts, Bars, Pubs, Clubs, Catering and Travel and Tourist etc.
These are around 180,000 hospitality industries that provide employment opportunities to approx
2 million people so, industry have major role in contributing in economy of country (Janta, H.,
2011). This report is based on Hilton Hotels & Resorts which provides various kinds of
hospitality services such as Luxury accommodation, transportations and food and beverage
services to the guests or visitors. The assignment will cover the current scope, and diversity with
different organisational structure and role of hospitality related with firm. In this analyse
operational, managerial issues that affects the industry.
TASK 1
1.1 Analyse the current scale, scope and diversity of the hospitality industry
In the present scenario, hospitality industry play vital in generating funds and economy of
country by providing number of services to the customers. This industry is also helping in
creating more job opportunities for unemployed people so that their living standard can be
improved. People can earn higher revenues and incomes as per the analysis of employment
which is more than 2.8 million people that are to be employed through hospitality sector. There
are defined different types of business that are related with hospitality industry such as foods and
beverages, accommodation, transportations, bars and pubs, restaurants, catering, clubs and many
others. There are some major current businesses mentioned below:
Hospitality services: It is biggest and one of the fast growing business which assists to
another sectors to generate revenues as from hotels to restaurants (Jones, P., 2016). They
considered number of facilities and services regarding management to satisfy customers desired
needs and expectations. In this involves luxury rooms, food and beverages, housekeeping and
safety or securities of visitors. Hospitality industry generally undertake different segmentations
and areas to targets the customers and fulfil their requirements with an appropriate manner
including travel, health care, educations, government provisions, corporate hospitality, leisures
venues, retails, sports events, concerts and DJ, and many more to attracts huge audiences towards
these. Many of countries focusing on developing travel and tourism business where hospitality

services must be required in more efficient manner so that customers requirement are fulfilled. .
Hilton Hotel & Resort is dealing in international market and provide number of services to the
visitors at different countries or places as well. They provide luxury room services, proper
facilities regarding accommodation and transportations, foods and beverages and many others for
the purpose of make customers feel more comfort and relax.
Ownership: In this defined the different types of ownership of hospitality industry that
run their business in an effective way. There are four major types of ownership such as
privately owned and operated, franchise, lease and managed etc. Hilton Hotel and &
Resort has operated more than 570 hotels properties in 85 countries and territories
across the six continent as well (CG Davidson, M., 2011). These properties are either
owned, franchised and managed by the independent operators by Hilton.
Impact of economy: Hospitality industry contributes in developing economy and
country that facilitates to achieve growth and sustainability. This is beneficial in
contribution of UK's economy due to providing employment opportunities, increase
growth rates and GDP, and social development etc. they have generated around £101
billion which was 6.7% of total GDP in the UK.
Diversity: Hospitality industry consist number of facilities and services which
diversified into different areas such as foods and beverages, hotels services,
transportations and accommodation facilities and many others for the purpose of
meeting customers requirements.
Food and Services Management: It is another important sector in travel and tourism
industry which provide support to food and beverage industries such as hotels and restaurants s
well. It serve different types of products or stuffs including food items, drinks and other services.
they also play crucial role in increasing revenues and economies of particular country by creating
employment opportunities for people (McPhail, R. 2011). The best example of McDonald's
which is fast food restaurant and company. Ownership: in this type of business, ownership can be considered as privately owned,
franchise agreements or contracts, self-operated, and outsourcing as well. McDonald's
has franchise types of ownership due to international food restaurant. Impact on economy: it has major contribution on country's economy because of growth
and new trends. They have generated more incomes and revenues by providing their

services at different places as per the targeted customers. McDonald's has helped to
deliver total contribution in UK which is approx euro 40bn to the British Economy.
Diversity: In such types of organisations, there are varieties of foods and beverages are to
be sold at the marketplace. Their production process and tastes always remains same in
different market, McDonald's is selling Hamburgers, French Fries, Soft drinks etc.
Travel and Tourist services: This sector is associated with travelling and tourism
services. it is also fast growing industry that have major impacts on the country's economy. They
serve number facilities regarding travel and tourism across the country (Barry, S., 2011.). There
are some examples of this industry such as TUI, Thomas & Cook etc. Ownership: The ownership of this sector are defined as Sole Traders, Private and
Limited companies, Partnership that considered such business and provide various
services to the tourists or visitors. The ownership of Thomas & Cook company is
privately owned. Impact on economy: Travel and tourism sector contributed high growth in economy of
different countries and this industry is essential in providing numerous services at several
areas including local, domestic, regional, rural, urban, national, international level for
developing such areas and achieve competition advantages in effective manner.
Diversity: in this, several services and facilities are to be provided by the industry to
target customers such as holiday offers, tour packages, hotels luxury rooms,
accommodation, transportations, restaurants, foods and beverages and sight seeing, and
many more while organising tours and trips.
1.2 Discuss the organisational structure of different hospitality organisations
Every businesses have different size, scope as well as structure which is depends on their
nature (Barry, S., 2011.). It can be analysed by undertaking various examples of five star hotels,
catering services and theme parks which provide different types of services to the customers.
These are as followings: Five start hotels: In this, the organisational structure generally different from other firms
as they focus on providing luxury services and more comfort to the visitors so that they
can be satisfied in an effective manner. There are needed appropriate staffs and services
to deal with visitors. In this required at least two general managers who can manage the
entire operations and handle tourists in better ways. One of manager take responsibilities

to manage the various department in particular hotel including front desk, maintenance,
auditing and sales etc. so that business can be run. On the other side, second manager
considered other departments and perform various duties for managing human resources,
finance and accounting, sales, food and beverages etc. So that common goals or
objectives can be achieved in well manner. Catering services: In such kinds of businesses, foods and beverages are to be served to
the customers. Therefore, they recruit and appoint talented and skilled person who can
manage the business activities and functions with effective manner (McPhail, R. 2011).
The role of managers are managing events, balance the demands and supply of raw
materials, stuffs so that better foods and beverages can be produced as per the
requirements. They have to maintain the quality of foods and drinks by considering the
customers health and safety. Manager also ensure about kitchen area, dining tables,
orders of foods and beverages etc.
Theme Parks: In these types of organisation, structure is different from hospitality
industry as there are required to maintain the park, garden, tools or equipments, water
falls and many more for the purpose of providing better experiences to the customers.
Manager are to be appointed for managing entire operations and they consider the climate
of park such as cleanness, greenery, dust beans at every corners, maintenance of swings
and many more for customers relaxations and they can feel better.
1.3 Assess the role of hospitality related organisation and professional bodies
In the hospitality industry, government formulated various rules and regulations that must
be followed by the organisations. It is essential in running business in an effective manner and
provide better quality of services to the people (CG Davidson, M., 2011). There are defined
various business of hospitality industry such as travelling services like Air, Coach, Rails, auto,
Lodging, restaurants, hotels, pubs, bars and clubs, theme parks etc. These businesses are
contributing more in developing economy and generate higher revenues by providing varieties of
services. there is defined some major laws and legislations within hospitality industry such as:
British Hospitality Association: In this defined some professional bodies which are to
be formulated for hotels, restaurants and catering firms. Therefore, it is necessary to consider
legislation and regulations while operating business that facilitates to contributing in export
earnings, and create competitive advantages for the UK.

Spring boards UK: As per this legislation , it can be analysed that there are various
benefits of hospitality industry which can be gained by country and social people.
Help to create more employment opportunities.
Promote the industry of hospitality and tourism.
Provide professional support in adequate manner.
Charted institution of securities and investment: The industry has to focus on
securities and safety for surviving the market (Jones, P., 2016). Therefore, they also dealing in
securities and investments according to professional bodies. This firm provide financial support
to the hospitality industry so that they can run and operate their business with well manner.

2.1 Assess staffing requirements of different hospitality business
The main purpose of staffing is to provide specific person on a right place. This will
enhance employees skills and improve the working conditions. Staffing requirement for different
hospitality industries which are unique to a nature in which recruitment is done. It involves
different sectors such as marketing, finance, logistics, accounting, management, HR and many
more within a hospitality industry. This helps in to run business with better and effective manner,
this includes services as well. As a personnel assistant, it is necessary to take initiate while
performing duties towards an organisation. Some essential points which are needed in hotels
such as housekeeping, receptionist, changing rooms, catering managers, hotel managers and so
on. It requires to manage Hilton hotels and resorts in proper and well manner (Janta, H., 2011).
This will improve and enhance the productivity of an organisation. As, it an intangible services
which provides comfort to their customer wants.
2.2 Roles, responsibilities and qualification requirements for hospitality staff
The general purpose of hospitality is to supervise and provide instructions to ensure
organisation, training, inventory and control over operations within a hospitality industry. This
consider various department that required skilled and qualified staff for managing hotel in an
appropriate manner. Some roles, responsibilities and qualification which are briefly described as
follows:
HR manager: In case of HR manager for Hilton hotels and resorts various skills and abilities are
required to handle and manages the business firm.

Qualification: The qualification required for HR manager is PGDM or MBA in Human
Resource Management and they have at least 2 to 3 year experience in this field.
