INTRODUCTION
Literacy can be defined as an ability to write, read and understand language, numbers etc.
Literacy can impact ability of an individual to learn a second language so that they can connect
to the world easily (Celik & Yavuz, 2018). In order to learn a second language, it is important to
enhance one’s own comprehensive, reading and writing skills (Park & Warschauer, 2016).
English is one of the most common second language that helps individuals to connect with world
and communicate with everyone easily. English language teaching differs from circumstances
asper the needs of an individual. This assignment will lay emphasis upon designing of three
innovative lesson plans in which English as second language will be taught according to different
needs and language settings and circumstances like: ESL (English as a second language), EFL
(English as a foreign language), and ESOL (English for speakers of other language). This
assignment will focus upon lesson plan designing for ESL individuals with a brief introductory
rationale for all the three lesson plans.
LESSON PLAN 1
Plan
This plan will focus upon designing of a lesson plan in which formal and informal
conversation will be taught to students. Students will be able to understand difference between
both the type of conversation and use it is in daily life while carrying out conversation with
others.

will be able to use it properly
Assumed prior knowledge: Teachers have been provided appropriate and proper training so
that they can teach English to students.
Resources: laptop, white board, white board pen, assignment development on MS word for

students, projector, speaker etc.

Differentiation: Continuous discussion will take place so that students can understand
difference between both the type of conversations

listening communication skills), appropriate knowledge of noun, pronoun, verb etc.

Rationale
This rationale will be focusing upon development of a framework. This lesson has been
designed for graduation students. So that they can understand difference between formal and
informal conversation, can understand situation and people with whom formal or information
conversation should be carried out. This lesson plan is for level 3 students of English as foreign
language. Main objective of this plan is to make students comfortable with English language so
that they can communicate with others without any kind of issue. Not only this, even if they want
to participate in any activity then this lesson plan will help them to learn conversation. Main
need of EFL students to get comfortable with English language and learn an additional language
so that they can carry conversation with anyone (Emiliasari, 2019). This plan has been developed
asper the current situation of Covid-19. Some of the students who live in hostel will be attending
class by maintaining social distancing, but other students who do not live in hostel can attend this
lesson though internet video call, if they have any kind of issue then they can ask their issues
online from teacher. Not only this such students can also ask their doubts and questions directly
though video call. Even in the current situation of Covid-19 students can attend these classes and
bring improvement within their English and work upon enhance their language.
Settings of this classroom will also be defined according to EFL students to whom English
is a foreign language and are learning it as an additional language. But for this lesson, students
will be divided into groups asper their first language or language in which they are comfortable
with. One language speaking students in one classroom will make it much easier for teacher to
communicate with students and make them learn the lesson and difference between formal and
informal conversation. For this various kind of advance technology will be used like internet,
laptop, MS word document, and other multimedia files. In the final word document of overall
lesson, annotation od first preferred language of students will also be provided so that it becomes
easier for them to understand. Teachers will be first describing the activity in English language
and them in first preferred language so that students can get a clarity of the each and every
sentence spoken by the teacher in inappropriate manner.

Rationale
This rationale will be focusing upon development of a lesson plan for graduation students
who have a brief knowledge about formal and information conversation so that they can
participate in interview and excel interview with their knowledge and excel in formal
communication. For this enhancement of understanding of formal interview conversation an
interview activity will be carried out. This lesson plan is for level 3 students of English as foreign
language. Main objective of this second lesson plan is to enhance communication skills of
student and increase their understanding of ways in which formal communication in interview is
carried out (Tagle & et.al., 2020). This lesson will help students to apply for job interview or
training under any company with their excellent formal communication skills. All the activities
that will be conducted in this lesson plan will be explained in both English language and their
local language. So that they can easily understand activity and what is being asked by them to be
done (Sayed, 2016).
Classroom settings will also be defined according to EFL students and this lesson can be
attended by only those students who had attended first formal and information conversation
lesson only after that class they will be able to attend this lesson. This is because students will be
able to understand ways in which they should greet, introduce themselves, answer questions and
say goodbye in an interview properly in formal conversation. For this various kind of advance
technology will be used like internet, MS power point, laptop, MS word document, video players
for playing video and other multimedia files.

This rationale will be focusing upon the development of vocabulary of students and enhance
their opportunities for bringing fluency in their oral language. Basically, this type of lesson plan
has been designed for student, who have faced the issue or problem in oral communication
(Pang, 2016). This plan will support for understanding the conversation of another people. In
order to establish a strong communication with another people. In this lesson plan, it may start
with the review of homework which given by teacher to their student. On regular basis, it has
been conducting the quiz. Therefore, it can easily identifying the importance or significance. In
order to check the learning experience of student.
Main Objective of this plan is to make comfortable for each and every student in term of
oral communication. This will help for eliminating the issue in oral communication while
identifying the learning capability of student. Not only this, even student want to participate in
the quiz activity then lesson plan will help them to learn new words and use on regular basis. As
improving the vocabulary, the most important aspect of lesson plan to inspire or motivate student
where they can use new words and try to learn whole paragraph (Rhalmi, 2018). This type of
lesson plan will make student to understand significance of achieving fluency in speaking and
improve their own vocabulary. Moreover, it also inspiring the student to participate in live
session where they can select or choose appropriate words according to the requirement. In this
way, they can build own confidence level to use right word, at right place. This can be possible
due to lesson plan of vocabulary enhancement. At certain level, it may support for enhancing
own knowledge while improving the English language with perfect words.
Setting of this effective quiz session within classroom which is mainly defined according to
student need or requirement. For this lesson, teacher will divide the task of each and every group
to use right words within paragraph. It is only for learning purpose but also practicing to use

right words. In order to improve confidence level of student towards vocabulary learning.
Through this plan, students can make them to learn within quiz session and identifying the best
conversation (Tagle & et.al., 2020). There are various advance technology will use to give more
materials for study purpose. It involves internet, multimedia files and other online learning
session. It is the best way to describe the different activities in which improve vocabulary,
preferred to select language and get better clarity of sentence.
By using lesson plan, it provides the students with documents and motivated to participate in
the quiz session where they can even practise at home. in this way, they can enhance their
vocabulary and enhance their fluency. It is important aspect of lesson plan which is not only
improve vocabulary but also support to develop understanding towards English language. In this
way, it will be supporting the student in future to understand the another person language during
discussion.
