INTRODUCTION
Literacy can be defined as an ability to write, read and understand language, numbers etc.
Literacy can impact ability of an individual to learn a second language so that they can connect
to the world easily (Celik & Yavuz, 2018). In order to learn a second language, it is important to
enhance one’s own comprehensive, reading and writing skills (Park & Warschauer, 2016).
English is one of the most common second language that helps individuals to connect with world
and communicate with everyone easily. English language teaching differs from circumstances
asper the needs of an individual. This assignment will lay emphasis upon designing of three
innovative lesson plans in which English as second language will be taught according to different
needs and language settings and circumstances like: ESL (English as a second language), EFL
(English as a foreign language), and ESOL (English for speakers of other language). This
assignment will focus upon lesson plan designing for ESL individuals with a brief introductory
rationale for all the three lesson plans.
LESSON PLAN 1
Plan
This plan will focus upon designing of a lesson plan in which formal and informal
conversation will be taught to students. Students will be able to understand difference between
both the type of conversation and use it is in daily life while carrying out conversation with
others.

Topic: Lesson planning for ESL and EFL students
Aims of lesson: To develop a lesson plan for formal and informal communication
Lesson objectives:
Students will be able to understand difference between formal and informal conversation and
will be able to use it properly
Assumed prior knowledge: Teachers have been provided appropriate and proper training so
that they can teach English to students.
Resources: laptop, white board, white board pen, assignment development on MS word for

students, projector, speaker etc.
Assessment: Teachers observations, conversation activity, assessment results
Differentiation: Continuous discussion will take place so that students can understand
difference between both the type of conversations
Skills for Life / Key Skills to be addressed: Good communication skills (oral, written and
listening communication skills), appropriate knowledge of noun, pronoun, verb etc.
Number/ numeracy: no number or numeracy skills are required for this lesson
Information Technology: Projector for showing screen of laptop for teaching, maki to reach
all the students, laptops for doing assignments in MS word, Internet for video call for online
students
