Topic: The role of social and cultural activities in community development
1. Introduction:
Developing cultural and physical environment significantly influences a community in
rendering a significant improvement both culturally as well as socially. Urban regeneration,
cultural participation, standing beside neighborhood is the most significant ways of community
development. It is observed that large number of children belonging to different localities of
Australia is not able to show their skills and talents due to family constraints. As a result, they
have to stop their educational journey at the middle of their career. Non-profit organizations of
Australia in this situation have taken initiatives for spreading their hands towards those children
who really seek help and cooperation for continuing their education process. This very specific
study has focused to make detailed overview about the role of social and cultural activities in
developing the community.
2. Backgrounds and research statement:
In last five years one survey is conducted on behalf of the community developers in order
to know how much children are socially deprived in maintaining their proper education
effectively and getting social recognition (Parkay, Anctil and Hass 2014). After identifying the
victims the community developers have decided to involve those children in cultural activities
and numerous extracurricular activities in order to render a social development. As a result, the
gaps between the “haves’ and haves’ not” would be overcome automatically. After identifying
this specific research issue numerous research scholars have showed their own opinion in order
to evaluate the role of social and cultural activities in community development.

3. Aims and objectives:
The aim of this very specific research is to critically understand the role of social and
cultural activities in community development. The objectives are as follows:
 To critically evaluate the role of social and cultural activities in community development
 To identify the factors which affect highly in maintaining proper plan on social and cultural
activities for community development
 To provide major recommendations on how to conduct effective cultural and social activities
for developing communities

5.1 Role of social and cultural activities in community development
Gorman (2017) pointed that community would be developed only when the gap between
poor and rich would be reduced. It has been observed from the community research of Australia
that large numbers of people are there who are still deprived of getting proper education and
culture from their family due to economic constraints. As a result, they are not able to get proper
