TOPIC 1.0: WORKPLACE HEALTH & SAFETY LEGISLATION AND DRIVER SAFETY
1.1: REASONS why we need to induct new staff into our driving school: (minimum 2 reasons)
ANSWER 1: New staff member needs to be provided inductions in driving school so that they can have
information about safety features of vehicles and the way guidance needs to be given to individuals
related to the driving.
ANSWER 2: Secondly, it helps in providing knowledge about the cause and effects of fatigue to the new
staff so that it can easily complete its task.
1.2: BENEFITS of inducting new staff into our driving school: (minimum 2 reasons)
ANSWER 1: The first and foremost benefit that has been gain by driving school through providing
induction to new staff is enhancement in productivity because of increase use in vehicle.
ANSWER 2: The new staff get ability to effective manage the fleet safely through making use of

information and fleet safely.
1.3: LICENCE REQUIREMENTS a trainer must hold to conduct this training: (relate to your
particular situation e.g. c class, LR, MR, HR, HC, MC)
ANSWER: For the class vehicle, the trainer must have a valid open driver licence that has been issue in
New Zealand or Australia and vehicle that applicant wants to learn. Along with it, the licence must be
continued for at least 1 year immediately prior to making application.
TOPIC 2.0: VEHICLE SAFETY CHECKS (MAPS TO TLIC1051 - PE1, PE2; KE12, KE15)
FOCUS FOR THIS SECTION: Safety regulations and established workplace safety and hazard control practices and
procedures are obtained, interpreted and applied to day-to-day work activities (maps to TLIF1001 – P.C. 1.4)

TOPIC 3.0: POST START-UP CHECKS / SHUT DOWN CHECKS
3.1: Post start-up checks
Check(s) to make: (1-2 sentence answer/dot points acceptable)
ANSWER: There are numerous things that needs to be kept in mind while driving, stop care and checking
such as temperature gauge reads hot, unusual noise and oil pressure gauge read low. In addition to this,
other things that has to be check before post start up are warming light on or any experience related to
abnormalities when braking.
3.2: On Road Parking Procedures (eg picking up and dropping off students for lessons)
Expectations of Trainer: (1-2 sentence answer/dot points acceptable)
ANSWER: It is expected that the trainer needs to safely park its vehicle, all system are switched off and
battery is isolated. Along with it, it is expected that it is legally parked at secured location and is not
vulnerable to other traffic.

TOPIC 4.0: EXPECTATIONS AND GENERAL ITEMS
4.1: Expectations in relation to communication between drivers and the office. (ie if the office is
trying to make contact with the trainer during training sessions with learner)
Expectations of Trainer: (1-2 sentence answer/dot points acceptable)
ANSWER: Use of appropriate language, body gesture and posture, active listening and participation are
various drivers of communication that are being expected to be present between the trainer and office
for effective exchange of information.
4.2 Motor Vehicle Incidents (do not include managing injuries in this section)

4.3: Dealing with crashes/incidents with injured people:
(MAPS TO TLIC1051-KE14; TLIF1001 – P.C. 1.7)
Expectations of Trainer:
Attend to injured person(s)
1 The first thing that trainer needs to do in case of dealing with injured people is apply first aid and avoid
moving the seriously injured person. Thus, it should make use of protective gloves to prevent itself to
contact with blood and other bodily fluid.
2 Secondly, the trainers should also take step to ensure that injure person is comfortable and other are
also safe.
3 The place at which the incident has occur needs to be isolated if it require police investigation.
4 Last it can be stated that it needs to call on triple zero that is 000 in case it does not work 112 is
another number on which call can be put for any emergency.
4.4: Dealing with crashes/incidents requiring reporting to police:

Expectations of Trainer:
Immediately report the crash to the police if:
1 The trainer needs to report police in case the person has been severely injured or killed.
2 It should report to police in case the vehicle require towing.
3 If the driver does not provide its personal detail to the company.
4 It should also report if the damage to property or vehicle has been caused over $2500 and various
detailed needs to be shared such as:
5 Name as well as model of vehicle
6 Full name and address of the owner of vehicle.
