is important for business organization to recognise their staff and give rewards for their well
performance which can help to develop organizational performance and productivity. In relation
to M&S, management should follow this strategy by recognising ability of their staff and give
rewards that can help to improve business productivity and retain people for long period.
Chapter Three: RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research methodology refers to collection and analysis of data so that the investigator can
reach at meaningful results. It is a step by step process wherein data is collected, analyzed and
interpreted in an efficient manner. To conduct a meaningful study, appropriate research
methodology is highly important. Ample of points are covered in research methodology in terms
of research approach, strategy, methods of data collection and more (Eisend and Kuss, 2019). To
collect data, there are various sources can be used. Apart from this, it is also vital to use ethical

practices in order to accomplish the research in significant manner. In this context, the various
steps of collecting and analyzing the data are mentioned below:
Research Approach
It is an essential part of research methodology so that the researcher can collect significant
amount of data on a specific topic. It is regarded as a systematic procedure where ample of steps
are included from assumptions to data collection, interpretation and analysis. Research approach
is a philosophy or belief on a particular phenomenon. Selection of an appropriate research
approach is important to complete the project work in timely manner. Inductive and deductive
are the two research approaches. Inductive approach is based on development of a new rather
than continuing with the existing approach. On other side, deductive approach is related to using
numerical information to analyze the existing theory in an efficient manner (Daniel, Kumar and
Omar, 2018). Out of the two approaches, deductive approach has been select in current context
as it will help in evaluating the existing theory by numerical approaches so that appropriate
research outcome can be gathered in an efficient manner. With this, it is possible to analyze large
amount of data by using quantitative & numerical tools significantly.
Research Strategy
Plans are prepared during the research strategy so that adequate amount of data can be
collected. A step by step plan is prepared with an aim to provide proper guidance to the
investigator to attain the research goals. In this regard, different type of research strategies like
case study, survey, observation and more can be used (Worthington and Bodie, 2017). In current
context, survey research strategy has been selected as it is helpful in collecting wide amount of
information from respondents. Survey makes it possible to personally interact with the
participants so that the investigator can develop significant knowledge on the given topic.
Research methodology
A procedure that is applied to collect, analyze and interpret the information is known as the
research methodology. This is one of the crucial sections of research study through which, it is
possible to check the reliability and authenticity of research study. Two widely used methods of
research are given below:
Quantitative methodology: This research methodology refers to the collection of
numerical data and information. Statistical techniques are used here to analyze and make

research are given below:
Quantitative methodology: This research methodology refers to the collection of
numerical data and information. Statistical techniques are used here to analyze and make
interpretation out of available data & information. Due to the application of statistical tools, it is
possible to get authentic results in an efficient manner (Ndlovu-Gatsheni, 2017). It enhances the
overall reliability & validity of research study and further help in drawing meaningful outcomes.
Here, main focus is on measurement of numeric data through questionnaire, case study etc.
Qualitative methodology: In-depth and detailed information is gathered here to complete
the research study successfully. While collecting the information, researcher and participants
both c can interact with each-other. This method is significant in order to develop significant
knowledge on a particular topic (Clandinin, Cave and Berendonk, 2017). Apart from the relevant
information, it is possible to collect some additional data through body language and response of
the participants. Case study, group discussion , focus group are some major sources of qualitative
data collection & analysis.
Out of the two methodologies, quantitative methods have been chosen in current
context. It is because of high reliability and authenticity due to the use of statistical & numerical
techniques. Here, quantitative method has been implemented so that the data gathered through
questionnaire can be analyzed appropriately.
Research Tools
In research, tools are the instruments which are applied for data collection & interpretation.
Using appropriate tools is important in order to explore the existing field of study in an efficient
manner. Through research tools, it is possible to collect both primary as well as secondary
information. For this purpose, different research tools are case studies, questionnaires,
interviews, survey etc (Coombes and Ryder, 2019). For completion of present research work, a
questionnaire has been developed so that vast amount of information can be collected from
respondents on the given topic. Questionnaire is one of the significant tools to get reliable &
authentic primary information by recording response of various participant.

Sampling
During sampling, the appropriate units are selected to make an analysis regarding the entire
population. The main rational behind sampling is to divide the entire population in order to get
certain units to represent the entire population of research study. Appropriate sampling
minimizes the efforts of researcher as they are require to collect the information from the entire
population. Through statistical methods, appropriate number is selected to create sample. While
creating the sample, it is required to give fair chance to each and every unit to become a part of
sampling (Ratnam, 2019). Probability and non-probability sampling are two major approaches of
sampling. Out of these two methods, probability sampling is used here to make fair selection.
This will help in attainment of research goals and objectives in an efficient manner.
Identify population and research site
Population refers to the group of various people from whom data will be gathered to
conduct future research. During the project, it is quite difficult to consider the entire population
as it will require huge time & cost (Vodenko and et. al., 2018). For this purpose, researcher
collects data using samples so that meaningful inferences can be made.
Sampling strategy
To attain the research goals, it is important to select an appropriate sampling strategy.
Effective sampling strategy helps in including appropriate units in the sample so that the
investigator can make valuable inferences. There are ample of sampling strategies can be used by
the researcher. The present study is based on probability sampling strategy where equal and fair
chance has been given to each and every unit (Knottnerus and Tugwell, 2018). This sampling
technique is helpful in terms of getting fair and authentic results for future betterment. In current
context, 30 employees have been chosen from random sampling technique in order to gather
appropriate set of information.
