Explain your role as a system analyst in context of the system you
designed in first assignment. Explain how did you use the OO approach
in designing the system and clarify thebenefits of using the relevant
UML diagrams in your design. Remember to address the advantages
and disadvantage of OO paradigm and give examples as appropriate
and cite your work properly. (500 words)
Role of system analyst is to analyse the performance that is offered by the
system. This also includes designing and implementing the information
system. QAHE University aims at implementing a digital library management
system that will facilitate the members of university with better services. As a
system analyst the main focus was to design the management system in a way
that will benefit each user. The system is being implemented with feature that
will check the credentials of each user and will verify the details. This will
ensure that only authenticate users are provided with the access. The admin is
given with the access to remove any member when they leave the university.
This will ensure that the details are being managed effectively within the
digital library management system. Object oriented approach is being used for
designing the digital management system. With the help of this approach it
becomes easy to fill the gap between the problem and solution. In addition to
this it becomes easy to design, adapt and maintain the system. The main
reason behind using object oriented model is that it simplifies design to great
extent that helps in storing all the essential details within the library
management system. The main focus of object oriented approach is that it
focuses on data rather than on the process and hence comes up with more
realistic approach. Object oriented approach offers several features that
include data hiding, encapsulation and many more. This feature helps in
protecting the data from getting hacked and ensures that the data that are
stored and transferred are authenticated. However there are some
disadvantages that are offered with the object oriented approach. This includes
it fails to show the communication process and fails to identify the object that
will generate. The functionality of the objects is limited and thus the user
needs to access the objects within that functionality. This offers optimal
system design. It becomes easy to design the basic and critical parts of the
digital library system. In order to understand the activities within the library
management system the UML diagrams are being used. UML diagrams helps in
understanding and visualizing the system in all different phases. The main
benefit is that it standardizes the modelling language and offers a better way
of interacting with the system. The UML diagrams that are used for
understanding the performance of digital library management system includes
class diagram, use case diagram and sequence diagrams. UML diagram
reduces the development time and the cost needed to develop the system
gets reduced too. This offers better visual elements for the purpose of
constructing a system. The digital library management system will allow the
user to login at first stage. With the help of UML use case diagram it became
easy to represent the situation. UML diagrams will help in easily designing the
main components. This will also ensure that the system has been implemented
with all necessary data. The digital library management system will offer an
effective performance towards the university.
