INTRODUCTION Talking in reference with the tour operations industry, it is defined as an integratedapproach in regards with the travel and tourism sector. There are many recent trends anddevelopment within the industry that significantly influence the performance as well asdevelopment of the tour operations industry (Page and Connell, 2010). Considering this fact,the main aim of the current research writing is to carry out detailed analysis of the touroperators industry within the travel and tourism sector. As a Tour Coordinator of lcb Tours,the main focus will be laid on analysing the recent trends, developments, issues and theirimpacts on the travel and tourism business. Finally, the later part of the report will help inunderstanding strategic as well as tactical decision making for tour operators in differentsituations. TASK – 11.1Evaluating the effects of current and recent trends and developments on the tour operatorsindustryTourism means travelling for pleasure. It includes the business that helps in attractingand entertaining people who travel all across the world for various purposes. The most vitalcomponent of tourism is the tour operator. These organizations offer specific packages,travelling, hotels, sightseeing and many more services to travellers. There are different typesof tour operators and these are as follows: Inbound tour operators – These are defined as those tour operators that accomplishesthe needs of the foreign tourists into the nation and there main focus is on offeringservices to the foreign tourists right from their arrival to their departure (Medlik,2012). They offer services such as food, sightseeing, travel guides, hotels andentertainment. GTI travel group is the leading inbound tour operators in UK. UK Outbound tour operators – These types of operators develops packages fortourists of their own nation. They send own people to foreign nations by marketingand selling packages. They have collaboration with the inbound tour operators ofanother nation so that tourism services can be offered to tourists. First Choice is theleading outbound tour operators of UK. Domestic tour operators – They carry out their operations within the boundary oftheir own nation and provide packages to people who want to travel within the1

country borders. Leisure Breaks is the leading domestic tour operators in UK thathelps the local people to travel in the nation (Huang and et.al, 2015). Specialist tour operators – They are engage in offering special tour to people andgroup as per their choices. They have numerous untouched destinations and modifythe packages as per the preference of the tourists. These tour operators also have in-depth knowledge of all the amenities available at different destinations (Batabyal andAlao, 2015). 2Recent Trends and DevelopmentsResponsible tourism – it involvesremoving the negative effects oftourism and maximizing benefits thatcan be earned through tourism. Now,each and every people is thinkingabout the welfare of the community ofthe host nation and enhancing theirwell-being through economic vitality,environment conservation andawareness of culture (Duffy andStroebel, 2015). Integration (vertical and horizontal) –Vertical integration means investing inthe related business at different levelsand horizontal integration meansmerging of companies within the sameindustry. Tour operators have increasedthe variety of products in packages tofacilitate tourists. They are adopting bothintegration practices to widen theirproduct range Advancement in technologyTourism industry is developing atfast pace due to advancement in thetechnology. All transactions arebeing taking place by making useof new technology. Because ofdigitization within the tourismindustry, quality and reach of thetour operators has increased.
