INTRODUCTION
Management and operation refers to the designing and controlling process of production
in terms of goods and services. It is a type of planning, supervising and organizing according to
the production and manufacturing of the services. Management and operation is the programme
which a identifies managing as whole production system that is the process of input or output in
delivered goods or services. This concept produce quality of product and managed them, also
maintaining balance between cost and revenue. In context of CEO in Toyota, which is Japan
based company was established in 18 august 1937, their headquarters in Aichi city Japan that
deals in a auto mobiles, luxury vehicles and engine globally it also gives various services like
banking, finance to their consumers. This report consist roles of leaders and managers plays a
role within an organization. It also focuses on various key approaches of management operation
also considers on different leadership approaches.

1. Introduction to Toyota.
Toyota is one of the largest auto-mobiles industry in the world. It is a Japanese
organization, which provide their services worldwide. It was founded in 1937 by Kiichiro
Toyoda in Japan. Company have around 364,445 employees which are working with them. They
have biggest management system, for this system they have three hierarchy level of structure.
where first is global hierarchy, that maximise the power of decision making of their regional
heads. Second hierarchy is geographic division, where an organization have divided the world in
to eight different regions. Third is product based division, where they have divided world in
small regions accordance with the sales of product (Ellitan, 2017).
2. Role and definition of managers and leaders or differences between management and
leadership.
Managers and leaders are the important part of an organization. They are eligible for
maintaining discipline in the industry.
Managers: These are the very crucial people in a business concern. They are responsible
for controlling or administering in the industry or group of staff. They are also know their
managing skills which continue lead to maintaining efficiency as well as effectiveness in overall
functions of business. Toyota managers are entitled for getting instructions from high level of

managers also they act as a link between employers as well as employees (Boyd and Dougherty,
2016).

vital role such as they perform the role of figurehead (an individual who is designated to
perform different activities).

that comes under transmitting category like dissemination, spokesperson as well as

business entity and motivation to their employees.ď‚· These are the building morale which involves obtain everyone's attention towards a
common goals that helps employees of Toyota who are working in a efficient manner.

communication skills, honesty, emotional balance which make other people to do good

Situation 1- Conflict: In present business, conflicts are present as common problem for
an organization, but generating solutions for these conflicts are very necessary for industry.
Solving these issues will help them in receiving their goals and objectives. In these conditions
management have to study situation for making an good solution. On the other hand, leadership

have any issue or conflict related to working operations, then management have to guide that
situation and need to make effective changes in their plan for solving that problem. While, leader
have to encourage them, which will help them to achieving targeted goals. As per these
situations, both leadership and management can adopt the conflict management theory.
According to this situation, conflict is a natural process in an organization, which has to be
solved by leader and management (Idris, 2016).
Situation 2- Decision Making: This term is very important for an organization. It lead an
organization to develop plan and strategies, that can help them in achieving goals and objectives.
Leader is a person who is responsible to take decision which can affect the working of their
organisation. Whereas, manager make plan and strategies that helps in receiving their aims. For
example, leadership of Toyota will take decision on their expansion. On the other side
management will make plans which can help them in achieving expansion. For this, they can
adopt all contingency theory of decision-making. It will help them in taking decisions that will
good for industry.
4. Strengths and weaknesses of different approaches of leadership and management.
Leadership approaches are given below:
Trait Leadership Approach: according to this approach great leaders can not build, they
are born. In context of Toyota, leaders must have some qualities such as honest, creative,
intelligent, confident, driven, courage. There are strength and weakness of trait approach is given

providing their services at different corners of world. They use to follow 3 level hierarchy in
their management structure, first is Global hierarchy, which increase the decision making power
of regional heads, and second is Geographic division, which divides the world in to 8 different
regions, and third is, division of world according to product and services offered by them. Their
managers and leaders use different approaches and play different roles in different situations so
that they can make the performance of organisation better (Ma and Sun, 2012). For future, they
further can more divide the world into different regions so that the working get smoother. So that
they can easily achieve goals and objectives for future.

manufactured company their headquarters in Aichi city Japan. That served auto-mobiles, luxury
vehicles and engine across the world and they use so many terms such as banking, financing
services for their customers. Most of the company has many operations to follow that depends
on the working sector of the industry. It deals with the management operation within the
organization and Toyota manage all the aspects related to operations that take place in a
business. Keys operations of Toyota dependents on the functions or strategy of their company.
There are few operation keys such as managing and quality for the product and supply chain of
product and services (Wen-chao, Fan and Wen-wen, 2012). Toyota also focuses on their quality
which makes good value of production system in front of the consumers. Therefore, Toyota uses
different keys of operation which helps to maximise business growth and achieve to their
targeted goals and objectives.
2. Roles and Responsibilities of managers in the key operational functions.
Managers are the crucial key personnel in a business concern who are known to maintain
efficiency and effectiveness in functionality area of a business. They receive some instructions
