INTRODUCTION
Change is must for every single organisation through which they can fulfil all the
requirements of customers. In order to gain competitive advantages, making alterations in
different areas like manufacturing of products and services, policies and etc. is necessary for
business organisations for longer sustainability. Apart from this, it can be said business
environment in today's world carried a rapid changing nature (Kotter, 2012). If companies need
longer sustainability, it is required for them to make changes as per current trends. This part of
report will include many barriers that are related to changes which may put impact on decisions
within a business organisation. On the other hand, it will also focus on various approaches of
leadership which will help in making modifications as per the requirements.

It is being analysed that there are ample number of barriers that are present in business
world which have impacted negatively on companies when they have tried to make changes.
After analysing the whole situation regarding changes in products or in policies, organisations
have faced various obstacles and gave this as a reason which affects their profit the most. On the
other hand, it is required for companies to make changes even if barriers putting impact on them.
ZARA, if do not allow alterations and follow traditional rules then it will directly affect
organisation's profit margins. Modifications consists with different values, beliefs and many
other things which directly impact on business firms.
Force Field Analysis:- Kurt Lewin was the person who propounded this tool and it was
made in the year of 1940. A social psychologist who tried to make changes in hisher own life in
order to make it more effective in nature. Later on, it was that much effective which made
organisations in adopting it. This was done in order to make proper communication while doing
business (Fullan, 2014). This analysing tool has helped ZARA in making changes and to locate
the oppositions as well. Main rivals of this organisation are: H&M and ESPIRIT in all over
United Kingdom which have impacted business of this organisation.
In order to bring in changes which includes both internal and external drivers. Apart from
this, it is pretty much required for ZARA to focus on structured decision-making techniques and
keep their eyes on quality because these are the two factors which majorly impact upon

profitability and productivity margins. ZARA needs to go through different steps in order to use
this tool and these are given beneath:
Step 1 – Proposal of change : It is required for ZARA to select a goal and area where
they are trying to make alterations.
Step 2 – Identify different forces of change : It is needed for company to look into
different drivers which are driving modifications and these includes both internal and external
environment. Under this, proper identifications take place.
 Some of internal drivers are: Outdated machinery, change in profit margins and many
more.
 Some of external drivers under this are: Disruptive technologies, changes under
demographic trends.
Step 3 - Identify Forces Against Change : This is stage brainstorming takes place few of
forces which stops ZARA in making changes.
Under this, some of internal forces that may resist company in making changes are:
 Employees of ZARA may get fear of unknown.
Existing or traditional structure of the company (Doppelt, 2017).
On the other hand, external forces in present context are given below:
 Commitments which has already be done by ZARA to its partners. Government legislation.
Step 4 - Assign Scores : Scoring all the forces from low to high. With the help of this,
leaders of ZARA can make determinations for those factors that are affecting company the most.
This brings in changes as per the requirements. Proper planning can be helpful in making
decisions right on time.
Step 5 - Analyse and Apply : This is being considerer as the last stage where ZARA
properly make analysis through which they can apply decisions that has been made by them.
With the help of this, company can easily make changes within an organisation and this could
help companies out grabbing good position at marketplace.
It is being analysed that there are various segments under which leaders have to makes
determinations. Some of these are like: change in price, enhancement of quality, and many more.
Therefore, it is much necessary for this company to adopt plans and functions through which
many benefits can easily be gained right on time.

It is being analysed that most of employees carries their own perception and attitude. This
brings in many barriers through which company may face ample of problems while adopting
changes at workstation. On the other hand, it is also being found that traditional approaches
every one likes to use because staff members of ZARA are much aware of it. Changes will
brought up fear in there mind because of unknown situations that they will face in near future.
They do not like changes because they feel old approaches that has been used by them were
perfect for them. But, as per the point of view of ZARA, changes are must that can help
company in gaining many competitive and other related to tasks (Yoder-Wise, 2014).
Therefore, it can be said that company needs to make alterations through which they can
hit their targets. Other reason of adopting alteration is that workforce is not having any kind of
specialization to deal with new techniques. So it is a fundamental duty of managers that they
conduct proper training program for staff members to make them future ready by enhancing their
skills.

Under this, both managers and leaders tries to bring in changes at work field through
pulling out different problems and situation as well through which they can easily grab a good
position right on time or adopt changes that has been made by ZARA. With the help of this,
company can develop favourable strategies through which they can reduce all the risk factors
that are related to internal drivers.

modifications. With the help of this, company have kept things in mind that has helped them in
grabbing a good position at marketplace of United Kingdom. Aim of building up changes is to
develop products and services through which company can gain many competitive and other
advantages.

supply of goods and services and many more. On the other hand, it will also show business firms
in hitting companies targets. To take in use of changes in much effective manner, it is required to
for ZARA to carry it out in front of employees and then pull up the capacity so that they can
coordinate and try to accomplish better benefits from the same. Apart from this, it is being found
that here are many sorts of leadership styles that are carrying its own advantages and
disadvantages. On the other hand, it can be said that company needs to make changes as per the
requirements of the company (Hrebiniak, 2013).
ZARA which is a multinational brand has to bring alterations in their clothes so that to
sustain at marketplace for a longer period of time. This can help business organisations in hitting
their targets. various changes to increase its market share and it can be done through several
modifications in ingredients or menu of its products like jeans, t-shirts, jackets, shirts and many
more. People like new things to adopt then they can introduce some new recipe of its coffee to
attract more customers by applying effective leadership style according to requirement.

Contingency Approach of leadership: It is one of the effective approach which is based
on behaviour of the company. Along with this, it also relate with demand of condition which
help in evaluating the current situation at workplace. In addition of this, it also refer to the
situation which implement within the company. This will contribute in improving the
performance of the company and at the same time also reduce any kind of issues at workplace.
Along with this, it also relate with the leader and its situation as well. It directly contribute in
improving the performance of the company at market place. In context of Zara, they also adopt
this kind of leadership as per changes within the organization. This will help in improving
quality of the products and services which may lead in increasing productivity level of the
company (Wagner, 2016).
Advantages: With the help of this approach, leaders of ZARA can easily bring in changes
as per the requirements of the plan.
Disadvantages: Contingency approach may bring in conflicts among employees and
employers.
Situational approach of leadership: It is also an effective approach which is relate with
the changes that occur at workplace. As one of the main motive of this theory is to evaluate the

relation between leader and the situation because it helps in providing guidelines to manager for
attaining set goals and objectives in appropriate time frame. By applying this theory, Zara may
implement effective ways to improve the performance level of the company. This theory also
said they no single leadership style of best because it is highly depend on the situation. With the
help of this, leader can easily handle entire situation is effective manner and also increase the
chances of attaining desirable goals and objectives. One of the main benefit of using this
approach is to enhance the profitability level by introducing quality products to its customers.

Advantages: With the help of this approach, leaders of ZARA can make decisions as per
the requirements through which they can give high competition to rivals and bring in changes in
much effective manner.
Disadvantages: Situational approach of leadership can be helpful for a little time of
period like if company is requiring to hit targets that are small in nature.
System approach of leadership: This is being considered as an approach which is being

maintenance, individuals, production and informal teams. These sub-systems can be done
through independent or international relationship with connection generating factors like
coordination, policies, goals, decisions, communication, authority responsibility relationships
etc. The essential aspects to be fulfilled are integration, adaptation and survival in changing
environment of market as per trends (Glass and Cook, 2016).
Advantages: Determinations under this will directly help out ZARA through which they
can hit their targets.
Disadvantages: This sort of leadership may take time and can slower down the process of
hitting targets.

From above mentioned report, it is being concluded that there are ample number of
barriers which may put impact on profitability and productivity of organisation when a company
looks forward to make alterations. On the other hand, there are ample number of trends that may
put impact on business and on decision making process as well of leaders and managers. Apart
from this, it is pretty much required for companies to make determinations so that to gain many
