A. The Value Chain and Business Functions (70 marks total)
In this part of the assessment, you are to complete two short written activities designed to test
your appreciation and understanding of some key business functions. Using the templates set
out on the following pages, use a range of appropriate academic underpinning to explore and
examine the purpose and value of some key business functions. You will be able to choose
which business functions you want to examine (for example, you might choose Operations
Management, Marketing, or Human Resources Management). You can choose any element
of the Value Chain (Porter 1985), whether Primary or Support function/activity.

section A, please make sure that your answer is not regarding the same function, as well as

business and its growth factors in the event industry (Karakowsky and Guriel, 2015).
Those functions are help to make effectiveness of business in appropriate manner for
success of any event. This section is highlight the main purpose and value of business
functions for event industry. The purpose and values of those business functions are as
follows:
Marketing:
The marketing department of the event industry is plays a very crucial role in their
business. This department is highly required for any business and its impact process. The
main purpose and value of marketing function which is help to create products to
customers as needs and wants of customers and improve upon the ones that already aye
exist to create better values for the customers which is proper analysis of work in
respective manner. This is team important for determining the price of product based on the
research and for launching products into the market in proper manner. The marketing
function is help to event industry to manage new trends in event to attract more customers.
Human resource management:
The human resource management is most important and effective function for business

which is create proper management of human resource in event company. Like event will
happen in this required proper human resource of addressing proper work which is created
great aspects as per division of work (Haynes, Nunnington and Eccles, 2017). The main
purpose and vales of HRM function is for creating, implementing and overseeing policies
between employees and the management of team within the company for great result of
work.
Finance:
Every company and organisation needs a money to manage its work process in proper
manner. Finance is important factors which is properly considers in event industry because
in the event industry is highly required more money for assess work and growth factors.
The main purpose of finance business function is to help people save, manage and raise
money. In this main role of finance department is to be make proper strategy to maximize
values of the firm is the main goals of financial manager (Pawitan, Nawangpalupi and
Widyarini, 2017). This creates a various values for business growth and aspects for
business or events for creates larger pool of customers in proper manner.
Production:
The production is the another business function which is considers in event planning and
industry. This creates a great aspects for business by creating good decoration in any event
by company. This plays an important role in business to attract more customers. The main
purpose of production in event industry I to making sure that about the raw material which
are provided and made into the finishing goods. In that planning is more required because
of proper business functions. Like event manager is take order of any event organize in that
they use different types of raw material for decoration. By using those raw material for
give the best feedback.
Those are the main purpose of different business functions such as marketing, human
resource management, finance and production. Those help to event industry for manage
those requirements in proper manner. This creates more flexibility for effective planning of
organization success in proper manner. Those functions are highly interrelated with each
other which description are as follows:
Marketing with finance:
The marketing department is more important and effective for event industry. That is
interrelated with finance department and have to be close work with finance department.
That is very important and effective (Hamilton and Webster, 2018). Marketing department

department. Through that finance and marketing department are linked up with each other
in event industry and create more successful work for value chain in global business
environment. Like marketing and sales is the important part of value chain at the global
level because can be organized at different place in respective work.
Finance with human resource:
Finance department is more responsible for the business growth in proper manner which is
created more suitably for event at another place. Finance and human resource both are
interrelated with each other in event company. Finance department need to hire more
candidates for team work in that human resource department is help to hire more
candidates for team work. At the global environment event manager need to consider with
hire effective team work. For finance department allocate money to HRM for organize
campus hiring of candidates at global level. On the other side, at the different country
money is also difference.
Human resource with production:
Human resource and production department is also interrelated with each other in the
company in respective manner. This is created more effective work for company and its
growth factors in the proper manner. Al the global level event organize needs to have

the global environment company need to hire candidates as per requirement in that human

customers experience and services in company (Martinez-Martinez and et.al., 2019). It is
the use of any computers, storage, networking and other physical devices to create more
effective process. Information technology is more important and effective for hospitality
sector of the business. This creates a more values at global environment because one hotel
is operates in other places for higher growth. In that they required getting information
about work and task for business suitability in respective and effective manner.
Customer services:
Customer services are also important function for the hospitality industry which is creates
more suitability for the business and its growth factors in effective manner. This creates
more effective and larger customer pool for the business in respective manner. This creates
more suitability. The main purpose of customer services is to satisfy needs and wants of
customers and build effective loyalty of customers towards hotels for in to growth factors.
At the global level, customer services are highly important to considers in proper manner
without any sacrifices. Like at the different country customers have requirement with hotel
to serve food as per taste. That can creates problems but hotel manager is considers with
this and follows that than customers are attracted towards business and creates more values
for hospitality sector at global level and context.
Research and development:
Research and development department is more important business function for growth of
company in respective manner. It is the productive investment and aid to survival and

Information technology plays an effective and crucial role in the business sector and global

Cansoy, 2019). On the other side, research and development is also important which is
important for hospitality sector for better work context. Research and development is had
to closely work with information technology to create more effectiveness for business and
its growth factors for the business. Research and development department have responsible
for collect proper and important information form market place related to customers needs
and wants. In that manager is taking support from information technology department.
Through that manager R&D manager have proper knowledge of customer requirement for

module I have learn different important aspects which are more important for the future
growth and its aspects. Here I learn about the different business and its purpose successful
business growth (Namada, 2018). The business functions are information technology,
customers services, research and development and logistic department. Those functions I
have analysis on the basis of hospitality sector. On the other side, I have analysis those
important factors for global business environment in event sector which are marketing,
finance, human resource and production. Those all are important business functions which
are analysis on two different sector global business environment of event industry and
hospitality sector. This creates more larger knowledge and information pool for business
growth.
I have understanding different skills which are more important or understand customers
needs and wants in effective manner. This creates more effectiveness for business and its
