sector that sell consumer goods like personal
and health care and food and beverages
which will help the company in examining
the internal and external factors as well as the
current and future potential of the company
(Teoli and An, 2019).

The sheer size, longevity and brand
image is the major strength of the
company as company has 400 brands
which sell products all over the globe.
Unilever’s human resource is strength
as they are highly skilled and
knowledgeable.
The price of the products of Unilever
is relatively higher than the
competitor’s thereby losing larger
customer segment therefore the
alternatives are available.
Dependency on distributor and
retailers is the weakness of the
company as company does not have
its own store or online platform to sell
directly to consumers.
Opportunities Threats
The company has opportunity to
diversify itself from consumer goods
with strong financial position and
brand image to advertise.
The current trends towards healthy
and sustainable products provide the
opportunity to Unilever to develop
new product to target modern trend
customers.
The company has a great threat of
competitors like Nestle, P&G etc. as
they have increased threat of
substitution and also affected pricing
strategies of Unilever.
The global crisis of Covid-19 is the
threat to Unilever in various other
markets including UK as it has
turndown the sales of the company in
market.

Analysis of the competitive environment:
There is no doubt that in rural areas the consumer goods
industry is highly competitive. Many big players are
fighting hard for shares in the world market (Hamilton and
Webster, 2018). Other big names in the industry are
Proctor & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, Nestle and
Colgate. There seems a high competition which can
impact the business of Unilever.
