Chapter 1: Introduction
Overview of Research
Tavistock house hotel is a small sized privately owned townhouse hotel that is famous for
its lovely restored offerings and designed rooms in a sumptuous surroundings where a warm and
friendly welcome is provided to all guest and customers (Chen, Lee and Ahlstrom, 2019). But
with the rapid expansion in hospitality sector and enhanced competition level together with new
and more creative services and facilities it become essential for Tavistock House hotel to look up
for some better strategies and ways to maintain its viability and ensures better growth and
success of its organisation. Therefore, following research is based on concept of talent
management and its importance for entrepreneurs and small business.
Rationale for research
The selection of current research topic is rationale as talent management is a crucial topic
especially for new entrepreneurs and small business as it facilitates enhancement in their skills
and competencies to cope up with competition and ensure better growth and success for them.
Beside this, the topic of talent management is also suitable and justifiable form educational
perspective of researcher and ensures betterment in skills and knowledge of investigator and
other scholarly individuals.
Aim and objective
The aim of this research project is, “To develop better understanding about the importance
of talent management for entrepreneurs and small business in order to enhance motivation level
and productivity”. This research project is focused on identifying the crucial role played by talent
management in facilitating success and better growth opportunity to small business.
Research Objectives
The objectives of this research work conducted on Tavistock House Hotel are stated as
follows:
To understand the concept of talent management.

To evaluate the importance of talent management in success and better growth of small
business and entrepreneur in hospitality sector ( Spraul and et. al., 2019). To identify the various strategies and effective way that can be adopted by Tavistock
House Hotel to have better talent management within its organization
Research questions

What are the various benefits and importance lead by talent management in success and
growth of a small business and entrepreneur in hospitality sector?
What steps and strategies can be adopted by Tavistock House Hotel to have better talent
management within its organization?
Activities and Time scale
Activities and time scale of current research work are reflected by following Gantt chart
to ensure a systematic presentation of all activities of research together with their frames and
duration (Ogbu Edeh and Mlanga, 2019). Use of Gantt chart ensures timely completion of
research work through facilitating more clarity and understanding regarding various research
task.
