INTRODUCTION
In a business organisation HR department and managers are playing crucial role
who identity the needs of people as there is vacant position and fill the post that helps to
get completion of task. This is important function in organisation which is deciding goals
and share with employees who are working in organisation so they can perform well
and helps to attain the business goals (Webb, 2017). Now a days it become compulsory
for organisation to have HR who perform various functions and getting the work
complete. This can help to increase the business performance and employees feel
good. To understand the importance of HR and its role Virgin Mobile UK has been
selected that is mobile phone service provider company operating telecommunication
service in UK. This organisation is running business successfully by hiring the people

HRM refers to the procedure of hiring, choosing, managing and controlling the
employee and business of the firm. It help in formulating plans and polices as per the
requirement of effective running of the firm and maintaining a health and friendly
working environment (Sadgrove, 2016).

 Organising training and motivational sessions and programs for the employees of

Personal aspect- It is affiliated with human resource planning, hiring, choosing,
placing, promoting, training and remunerating etc. HRM influence and create impact on
characteristics of the working people in different manners.
Industrial relations aspect- This covers organized administration relations,
conjunct consultation, agglomerate negotiation, resentment and corrective process,
agreement of conflict etc (Schwalbe, 2015).
Welfare aspect- It deals with temporary conditions and conveniences such as
canteens, rest and lunch rooms, housing, transportation, medical help, health and
safety etc. It help Virgin Mobile organisation in providing services to the people who are
working in the firm and making contribution in its success (Brewer and Brewer, 2010)..

Operative function- This HRM function consist recruitment, training and
development, compensation & welfare, professional evolution, performance appraisal
and insure legal abidance in the company. These activities and actions are considered
in the operations by the company on daily basis (Mok, Shen and Yang, 2015).
Recruitment- It is the process of hiring and sorting the candidates for filling the
vacant position of the company. In Virgin Mobile, it is the important function because
with the help of it the management of the company can organised hiring process and
select skilled and qualified applicants for the vacant posts in the organisation.
Training and development- It is another essential function of HRM which is
effective for making improvement in the skills and knowledge of the workers of the. In
Virgin Mobile, the administration can utilise it to develop the competencies of the
employees so that they can make their contribution appropriately in operating the
activities and operations of the organisation.
Performance appraisal- It is a tool and technique which help in monitoring the
performance of the workers. With the help of it Virgin Mobile can monitor the
performance of its human resources by organising the process of appraisal on the basis
of quarterly, half yearly and annually. If the employee perform good then the firm can
rewarded them though, bonus, extra leaves, promotion and others.
