INTRODUCTION
Management refers to an integrated activity that assist to administrate and coordinate to
achieve the common goal (Nellåker and et. al., 2019). This includes those tasks which involve
setting up the strategy of organization, coordinating the contribution of its staff so that the
objective can be achieved. The operation management creates maximum level of efficiency in
the organization. Operational activities include conversion of raw material and worker into goods
and services in most efficient way to earn the best possible output (Hermansyah and et. al.,
2018). The management structure refers to process that involves companies is organizing its
management hierarchy. The activities that are under management structure are allocation of
resources, supervising the task and coordinating the activities. Sainsbury is organization of
supermarket have 16% share in Britain market. The company was established in 1869 by John
James. This report will evaluate the management structure of Sainsbury and identify the roles of
manager and leaders as well as its functions throughout the company. Further it will determine
the role of managers and leaders plays in the operational functions and their relationship in
Sainsbury.
MAIN BODY
Management structure
Sainsbury has a different level in its management. The employees in this are having their
individual as well as group task to accomplish. The board member has distributed the
responsibilities as per the knowledge and qualification of employees. The company is having
divisional structure in that all the departments have their own marketing, information technology
and sales team so that the work is being divided and all the employee's perform better. As the
Sainsbury's is a large organization so this structure assist for better growth in international
environment.
Definition managers and leaders
The managers are the persons in Sainsbury who are responsible to controlling and
developing the activities that are to be performed in the organisation. The managers use to
allocate the resources in such way that organizational objective can be achieved (Bjørkelo and et.

al., 2021). Managers are having dynamic nature in the environment of businesses. The managers
mainly focuses on four key functions of Sainsbury that are planning, organizing, leading and
controlling. These all are the functions that assists managers to expand the efficiency and
effectiveness.
A leader is that person who regularly tries to improves the performance of group of
people. The leaders in Sainsbury provides a better vision to the people so that they move in right
direction. With the effective leaders the company is regularly gaining competitive advantage.
The company is using different type of approaches of leadership in different situations.
