INTRODUCTION
Business ethics refers to the modern standards within an organization, principles, sets of
values as well as norms that govern the behaviors as well as actions of an individual in an
organization. Also, there are different benefits for organizations to comply with different ethics
as they contribute to their overall success (Annunziata and et.al., 2018). Working collaboratively
can help the employees within the organization to work effectively and help the company in
attaining their goals as well as objectives.

Ethics can be defined as a set of rules or principles within an organization that govern the
actions as well as behavior of individuals. Ethics are important and can help in enhancing the
overall reputation of the organization. There are different factors that can influence the overall
ethics within an organization. Individual, social as well as opportunity are some of the factors
that can influence ethics. The different factors are explained below -
Ethical code of the organization – When the size of an organization is large, its overall
standard of ethical conduct tends to increase. Therefore, any kind of unethical behavior or
conduct on the part of employees can affect the overall reputation of the company. Thus, many
organizations are cautious about the same.
Social Pressures – Social pressures as well as forces can have a significant impact on the
ethics of a business. If a company gets into selling sub-standard products as well as unethical
conducts, the overall behavior of the customers towards the company will get affected (Aquilani
and et.al., 2018). This can exert pressure on the company to abide by different ethics strictly.
Legislation – It is already known that the government intervenes and enacts laws only
when businesses become too unethical and ignore their responsibility towards the society. As a
result, the government does not have any alternative but to prohibit the unethical behavior of the
organization.

Policies of the Company – The different policies of the company also affect the overall
ethics within the business. This is because standards of ethical conduct within a particular
industry are mainly affected by the dominant firms within it. The managers of the company
should ensure that the policies are developed effectively. Therefore, it can be said that these are
some of the factors that affect the overall ethics within a business organization.

in the industry. An organization that is perceived to act in an ethical manner, is able to obtain
positive business outcomes. Ethics in the workplace can stimulate positive behaviors which can

because an unethical behavior of the employees within the company can lead the company into
trouble. Unethical behavior can also lead the company in to damaging the reputation in the
market. However, there are benefits of moral behavior within the place of job past the avoidance
of reputational harm. An enterprise that is seemed to act ethically by employees can comprehend
superb advantages and stepped forward business results. The notion of ethical conduct can
growth worker overall performance, activity delight, organizational dedication, trust and
organizational citizenship behaviors. Organizational citizenship behaviors encompass altruism,
conscientiousness, civic virtue, sportsmanship and courtesy. Marks and Spencer is a widely
known British retailer that has a huge and loyal customer base. The company is committed
towards doing the right thing and complying to, the different ethics. It is essential because it has
helped the respective company in developing a positive working environment. also, the company
has been able to achieve its organizational goals as well as objectives in an effective manner. It
can be said that ethics have impacted the overall performance of the company in a positive
manner and helped it in gaining a competitive advantage as well.
