From the above report it has been concluded that ethics are a crucial element for an organization
and its application has various positive impacts on the functioning of these organizations.
Moreover, how it can solve environmental issues in an effective manner. It was also concluded
that code of conduct are important for an organization as it enables it to build positive relations
with customers, employees, suppliers along with the ability to develop reliable relations with
other organisations. Furthermore, how diverse recruitment help various organisation is providing
employment opportunities to women, individual of colour along with minority ethnic groups. It
was also observed that there are both positive and negative impacts of diverse recruitment on the
community which are required to be consider before following through with the

INTRODUCTION
Collaborative working is defined as activity in which two and more than two people
working collectively for the purpose of attaining common goals. This mainly involves
brainstorming, dividing work between people, and sharing of ideas that can help to manage the
business activities and performance. Business ethics refers to implementing appropriate business
policies and practices that needs to follow by business concern and individual for the purpose of
developing performance (Roos, and Hahn, 2019). While doing something, there is need to follow
ethical principle and values that uses to regulate all functions and activities effectively. To
understand about ethics, values and collaborative working Morrison has been selected that is
larger supermarket in UK, providing range of products by following ethical principles and
collective working that can help to develop organizational productivity and profitability. The
report is explaining ethics, importance of code of conduct, recruitment process that initiate
women to work.
TASK 1
Explain what is meant by the term ‘ethics’
Ethics is defined as moral philosophy and branch of philosophy that used by people to
arrange their work systematically. This is important for each individual to focus over ethical
concept which can help to arrange the business activities and performance. While operating a
business sit became essential for industries to focus over ethical concept and manage their
working which can help to develop the organizational performance. In case organization is not
following the ethics in their businesses then it would be difficult to operate their business and
complete the task (Wang, Tajvidi, Lin, and Hajli, 2020).
According to (Us, 2019), Ethics are the principles that guides people to make a positive
impact through their decision and action. This plays an important role not in personal lives but
also in business. To run a business in changing environment, ethics is wider concept that uses to
arrange the work systematically, telling truth, keep promises and help someone that can help to
develop the business productivity and profitability. For example, if Morrison wants to increase
organizational sales and customer base then it has to follow ethical principles such as integrity,
moral, honour, choice, consistence, value, honesty, and responsibility that can help to bring
change in existing work and develop the organizational productivity.

Describe how ethics are applied within an organisation of your choosing
Ethics is explained as branch of philosophy that seek to address issues by showcasing what
is right and wrong concept. This is important for individual to analysis the ethical principles and
follows while running their business as it helps to know what next step should be taken to
develop the business activities. Business ethics enhances the law by highlighting acceptable
behaviour beyond government control. For each business industry, ethics are values are similar
practices which is formulated by management for the purpose of running business resolving
issues that arises while working. For example, Morrison is large size supermarket that operates
its business in changing environment and faces issues of corporate governance, insider trading,
bribery and discrimination that directly affected the business negatively. This became important
for management and business concern to resolve the issues by focusing over ethics and its
principles which guides people to work systematically and appropriate manner (Lei, Do, and Le,
2019).
Morrison is following the ethics such as moral, integrity, and fairness which uses to
reduce the issue of insider trading and bribery. Morrisons has been actively engaged with the
Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) since 2015, and were confirmed as full members in 2018.
Membership enables us to join forces with other businesses, trade unions, and civil society
organisations to support wider advocacy and drive positive change in our supply chains. For
running a business and managing functions it is important focus over ethics that keeps employees
aware regarding problems that arises while working and managing each function. The
management and owner of Morrison formulates different business policies and practices that
needs to follow by all people who is indulge in business activities. This can help to bring change
in organizational performance and resolve the issues. To follow rules and policies it vital part for
running industry as it builds confidence about right working and give assurance to manage
working effectively. This also supports to develop the organizational productivity by helping
customer to get right details about products and services that supports to make right decisions
(Tourigny, Han, Baba, and Pan, 2019).
Discuss what an organisation can do to address environmental issues.
While running a business risen of environmental issues is natural where it became important
for industries to identify issues and bring solution. For business industry environment
sustainability is the major concern which is used by business concern for the purpose of

influencing number of customers and developing performance. Morrison is operating business by
offering products at retail prices that supports to increase organizational sales. The organization
faced environmental issues such as climate change, warming planet, global warming, increasing
pollution and increasing wastages that directly affected organization such as lower productivity
and lower sales in changing environment. The management plays important role who make the
use of ethics, values and environmental policies that supports to resolve issue of environmental
issues and manage work accordingly. By following the minimum wastages and fairly work
Morrison reduces its wastages that helps to increase organizational sales. To improve the issue of
climate changes environmental policy and responsibility as ethical principle is followed by
management that supported to increase the business activities and performance effectively
(Meng, DiSalvo, and Zegura, 2019).
The organization is also following the environmental sustainability regulation by
participating in CSR activities that can help to improve the insights of society and make sure
people that organization is doing business for welfare of society and environment. This also
focuses over plantation and less pollution that could help to resolve the environmental issues.
Thus, from the above it has been analysed that Morrison could operating its business in changing
environment by formulating and implementing environment policies that helps to manage all
functions and activities effectively. This also helps to increase business production and
profitability effectively (Jones, Byon, and Huang, 2019).
TASK 2
Create a code of conduct for an organisation of your choosing
A code of conduct is defined as most common policy in an organization which used by
management for the purpose of identifying goals and attaining it effectively. This is important
for organizations to focus over organizational goals and set code of conduct which uses to
manage functions and activities in right manner. In case organization is not focusing over
conduct and behaviour then it will be difficult to operate a business and manage all functions
effectively. For example, Morrison is UK based Supermarket that is operating business by
offering range of products and services in changing environment. The management plays
important role of setting or deciding the code of conduct that needs to follow by all people who
is indulge in activities. The code of conduct for chosen organization is transparency &

communication, stakeholder engagement, supplier improvement, risk assessment, use of
technology, formulation of leave policy and removing discrimination. To follow the code of
conduct in changing environment could be opportunity for business industry to run their business
effectively and manage each function properly (O’Connor, and Kenter, 2019).
The communication conduct states that there should be clear and right communication
between employer and employees that can help to provide right details about products and
services to their customers and influence them to make right decisions. To set stakeholder
engagement conduct, management will get new ideas and fund to expand their business activities
in other location which would help to develop the business activities. Leave policy is important
code of conduct that should be follow by Morrison for the purpose of influencing employees and
satisfying them that organization is welfare for employees. This also helps to retain staff for long
period of time and manage all activities. It has seen that sometime management behave
differently with some employees and give them opportunity to show their talent that create a
feeling of conflicts between other staff, affected the organizational performance. The
management should follow the discrimination policy where all staff would be treated same with
no discrimination on any bases. This will help to bring changes in organizational activities and
performance in changing environment. For running a business and attaining competitive
advantages management has also created use of new technology as code of conduct where
employees are allowed to use cell phones, social media and internet to reach the targeted
customers and influence them to make right business decision. This also helps to bring changes
and new services for customers that supports to increase organizational sales (Friedman, and
Hendry, 2019).
Discussing how code of conduct will help when working with other organisations.
The code of conduct is crucial for an organization as it allows them to establish positive
relation s relative to customers, employees, and other organizations. The code of conduct enables
an organization to build effective brand image along with enhanced reputation in the market. In
context to Morrison the code of conduct will allow them to build better and reliable relation with
other organizations. The communication code of conduct will allow the management at Morrison
to develop a clear and transparent channel of communication with other organisation (Malik and
Kanwal, 2018). This helps the company in ensuring that all crucial information flowing though

the communication channel are not leaked to other third-party sources. In addition to this the set
stakeholder conduct will allow the management at Morrison to ensure that any relation such as
partnership and join-venture with other organizations hold the same business values as them.
This ensures that both the organizations are aligned with a common mission and vision along
with values. Relative to the same the leave policy enables higher authority at Morrison to ensure
that all employees are provided with adequate leaves in both their organization as well as other
organization that they choose to conduct business with. The management at Morrison will able to
build good relation with other organization as they pay emphasis on non-discriminatory code of
conduct (Thrift, 2020) This will allow effective attraction of other organization to conduct
business as they value such code of conduct in order to give each individual fair treatment and
opportunities at the work place. Moreover, the new technology code of conduct will allow the
management at Morrison to build long-term relations with other organization as the company is
focuses on technology code of conduct such as keeping the valuable data of both the customers
and other organization safe. This can help in attracting other organization to work with Morrison
and its management.
TASK 3
Identifying and discussing the initiative by the fire service along with explanation regarding its
legality and its impact upon the community
The fire service issues various campaigns and initiative in order to attract various
individuals to join their service as officers at different positions. These campaigns allow the fire
service to provide hiring and other information to the general public. The fire services also use
such campaigns and initiatives to recruit more women and people of colour and ethnic groups for
office positions. This initiative by the fire service is known as diversification and is applicable to
all kind of organization (Take and Shoraku, 2018). The diversification initiative refers to hiring
individual from various backgrounds along with keeping in mind to ensure all procedures reduce
biased related components such as the candidate, age, race, gender, religion, sexual orientation
and other personal characteristic that are not related to their job performance. This initiative by
the fire serve allow them to higher and promote the recruitment of women as well as other
coloured and ethnic background individuals in their department as officers. This allows the
department to ensure they have a diversified workforce with individual from various background

and expertise (Dawkins, 2018). This initiative by the department also allow them to retain
employees in the long term as women and other coloured individual along with minority ethnic
groups face discrimination when searching for job opportunities. Moreover, it helps the current
and future employee of the department to be empowered and stand for what is correct through
the support of the fire service department. In addition to this havening a diversified workforce
enables the fire service to understand and meet the needs of the employees and establish an
atmosphere that supports positive relation and communication. Furthermore, recruitment of more
women and individuals of colour along with minority of ethnic background leas to variety of
ideas, knowledge as members of the same background take actions based on a narrow range of
experiences (Toma, Villares-Varela and Czaika, 2018). By ensuing members of various social
and cultural backgrounds the fire service department will receive a wider range of perspective
and approaches during decision making. The whole process of diversity recruitment is legal if
performed properly and comes under the equal employment opportunity commission which was
established to ensure that hiring is done regarding to race, colour, religion, sex, age or disability.
Intentional recruiting for diversity is in many case commendable but needs to be performed and a
strict and structured manner in order to be fair and avoid antidiscrimination laws placed by
authorities (Dawson and Sutherland-Smith). This process is although monitored by courts and
equal employment opportunity commission as the government look to enforce antidiscrimination
in employment in various ways. One of such ways is through policing of diversity initiatives.
The employment practices of the organizations that seek to diversity their workforce and other
positing can encounter issues related to antidiscrimination laws even if their intentions were
legitimate. The whole process of diversified recruitment although legal often negatively
perceived due to the concept of reverse discrimination (Kraus and et. al, 2019). Therefore the
equal employment opportunity commission recommends that all selection and recruitment
process should be done without the regard to various aspects but also recognizes that diversity is
crucial in the working environment and works to promote diversity. All other things being equal
between two candidates a choice can be made to recruit or promote a member of a protected
class over one who is not (Clarkson and Miller, 2020). This raises the issue of reverse
discrimination where there is a difference in the qualities or qualifications of the candidates and
the protected member is favoured primarily based on that person’s statues as a member of a
protected class. In addition to this if women are unfairly preferred over men in positions where

gender differences are not vital aspect of the position, or where the sole motivation for choosing
a women is because of her gender, rather than being equally qualified or having a legitimate
business reasons for doing so, the organizations my encounter reverse discrimination liability
(Proctor and et.. al., 2018). The diversification recruitment has various impacts on the
community which can be both positive and negative in nature. As for the positive impacts it
allows the organisation to promote equal opportunity in the community which helps in
enhancement of organizational reputation (Craft, 2018). The diversified recruitment ensures
reduction in the aspect of biasness in the community as well. Moreover, this initiative by fire
services will ensure that a positive message in conveyed in the public relative to non-
discrimination at workplace and hiring. The recruitment for diversification is also essential for
the community as it allows women, individuals of colour and minorities for various ethic
cultures to have a fair chance to get employed. Furthermore, such an initiative from the fire
services promotes other various organisations to instil such a format of recruitment within their
hiring process due to its various positive outcomes. In addition to this communities want to see
more diversification at the workplace as such organizations is able to prove much better level of
satisfaction. The diversity in recruitment helps the national economy as well due to more hiring
of women the labour force is filled reducing the shortage of jobs at local, regional, national and
international levels (Czaika. ed., 2018). The global application of such an initiative will allow
women to work and help in reduction of poverty. Furthermore, hiring and recruitment of
coloured individuals and minorities help in building the structure of the economy and assist in
making it more diversified, reduce risk of exposure related to stagnant economic growth. On the
contrary the diversified recruitment has its disadvantage as well. The improper implementation
of this initiative creates the concept of reverse discrimination and promotes periodic lawsuits on
various organizations that had honest intentions (Holzmayer and Schmidt, 2020). Moreover, this
causes friction between various cultures and race along with genders that causes disharmony at
the workplace of an organization. In the community it has the negative impact of tensions
between various communities which can escalate and causes negative impact on not only the
organization promoting diversified hiring but also on the economy. Furthermore, it can have the
reverse effect for what it is meant for as its application can result in a sudden surge in resignation
for current employees due to their in acceptance of the procedures relative to recruitment of

diversification (Molnar, 2019). This results in a sudden increase of unemployment for an
organization. This contributes to the overall increase in the unemployment rate of an economy.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it has been concluded that ethics are a crucial element for an
organization and its application has various positive impacts on the functioning of these
organizations. Moreover, how it can solve environmental issues in an effective manner. It was
also concluded that code of conduct are important for an organization as it enables it to build
positive relations with customers, employees, suppliers along with the ability to develop reliable
relations with other organisations. Furthermore, how diverse recruitment help various
organisation is providing employment opportunities to women, individual of colour along with
minority ethnic groups. It was also observed that there are both positive and negative impacts of
diverse recruitment on the community which are required to be consider before following
through with the process.
