Modern day lifestyle is becoming majorly dependent on internet andweb based applications. This report is based on the purpose of delivering basic knowledge that isrequired for creating and implementing a website design. This platform has emerged as thelargest platform for earning money without investing much money. In this assessment variousconcepts related to the subject will be discussed and certain testing of designed interactiveplatform for Shiny Kitchen Worktops Ltd. shall be provided for better understanding offunctioning websites. TASK 1 1.1 Design concepts of a websiteInternet based portal or website is an implementation of ideas and thoughts of anindividual into digital technology. Before designing a website there are certain concepts whichneed to be understood (Berenson and et. al., 2012). These are described as follows:Users:The most significant component of a website is its users. These are the people who aregoing to handle and operate proposed website of Shiny Kitchen Worktop Ltd. The different typesof users are:ExpertRegularOccasionalNoviceThe website design can be more effective if designers are aware about types of users thatare going to visit and utilise sources of proposed forum. Moreover, it also helps in getting aninsight about the specific needs and requirements of these users (Larman, 2012). For instance,Shiny Kitchen company will focus more on occasional and regular users and their psychological,social and environmental needs. Site Analysis: 3
The process in which certain parameters are checked and analysed for website isconsidered as site analysis. Purpose behind proposed design should be served effectively andcommunication as well as interaction should be smooth. Site analysis also involves appropriateplanning of structure because several functions like uploading, downloading and search engineoperations are interconnected with structure of website (Lauer and Pentak, 2011). Users'adaptability towards presentation of the design is also measured in site analysis.Accessibility:Often certain barriers are faced by users when interacting with websites. These can bevisual or navigational problems that limit usage and access of website. Hence, design for ShinyKitchen should be in accordance with legislations and standards so that accessibility increases.Disability Discrimination Act, Data protection act, etc. are mandatory to be followed bydesigners.Design:People opt for internet based sources because of comfort and convenience that is beingprovided. Design of website must fulfil user expectations. This can only be possible when setrules and regulations are followed and implied in the designing structure (McNeil, 2010). Ease ofuse and navigation functions can be evaluated using specific tools like W3C (World Wide WebConsortium) Mark-up. It is a validation service that helps in judging website design and makes itmore profitable and efficient. Validation Service Environment:The environment that validates and certifies digital documents that are digitally signedand communicated through websites. Aforementioned tool that is W3C is implemented forexamining quality of proposed web design. Client side and server side scripting, judgement ofbrowser behaviour, validation of HTML and XHTML documents are some aspects which areexamined using specific tools for the correctness of website (Christensen, Johnson and Turner,2011).
