3. Differentiate the

methods of project

negotiation, conflict

management, and

stakeholder

engagement across

projects consisting of

differing technology

standards and asset

lifecycles.

It can be stated that there are different methods of negotiation that occurs in

the project management. As in the English channel case the data can be in form

of normative and prescriptive. This project takes huge cost to develop that is

$21 billion and also faces the mechanical problems. This arises a dispute in the

organisation and that can be solved by the way of negotiation. To solve the

dispute with the process of negotiation they have to follow the certain steps

such as firstly they have to plan and prepare the norms then identify that rules

on the basis of problems. Then they have to justify and clarify that rules for the

parties. The problem can be solved with the help of different technology and

lastly implement the result on it.

The English channel used the strategy of negotiation with the objective to reach

at the solution. To enhance the lifecycle different techniques are used such as

they have to use the effective equipment that helps to determine the expense

and value(
Ury & Fisher 2012).

4. Explain and apply

methods of

identifying and

reconciling

inconsistent and

conflicting objectives

and drivers that

develop, maintain

manage relationships

and communication

with key

stakeholders.

The English Channel can be developed by the government and different

stakeholders are involved in this project and they also invest their money and

resource to develop it. But still there are different circumstances that create a

risk for the project and that hampers it’s functioning(
PMI, 2013). One of the
situations is inconsistent objective which determines that if the objective of

stakeholder is differ from the objective of the company then it results in

conflicts. So to ensure the proper implementation of the project management it

is necessary to match the goals and objectives. Apart from that, if there is any

conflict among the members then it can be settled by the methods of

negotiation that can be in form of collaborative negotiation, adversarial

negotiation. This issue in the English channel also causes the disagreement

among the members as well as it can be treated as violence(
Peña-Mora and
Tamaki, 2001
).
5. Explain the

consequences of

project delays,

disruptions, and

changes to planned

activities and the

methods for claims

variations, liquidated

damages, contract

entitlements, and

arbitration.

The project of English Channel is the rail tunnel in UK. This project takes a long

time and more cost to come in process. At the time of execution of project,

there are many disruptions; delays have occurred that creates the issue for the

parties. It is the responsibility of the manager to settle that issue as it not only

affects the project development but it also delay for the completion in the

channel of project. It can be asserted that to settle this dispute, it is necessary

for the parties to make the proper agreement with the terms and conditions.

They have to specify each and every detail such as cost, equipments and the

number of damages in a proper way. If later on, if the party denied for any

conditions then the other party has right to claim against the damages. The

other technique can be used by the parties is arbitration in which they can solve

the dispute in a quick manner(
Kerzner, 2013).
6. Evaluate project

management tools

that help avoid or

It can be determined that the project of English channel has faced many

problems in respect to mechanics , cost, development etc. Due to this, there is

conflict among the stakeholders and manager. For this, there are various

methods that help in solving the problems such as, if the problem is regarding

the stress in shareholders then it can be recommended that to avoid that

problem or withdraw. For this, they can appoint the third party to settle the

dispute. If the issue is regarding the use of power then in that situation they

have to determine the effective and efficient shareholder who can handle each

and every problem. The other solution can be a meeting in which both parties

state their issues and problems to the third party and that party guides and

recommended a solution to settle that problem. It is on the discretion of the

stakeholders that which method they adopt to settle the issues in respect of

channel project(
Alfredson & Cungu 2008).
